The barber shop is cheap and takes cash only so make sure you have some before you go. (or you can walk to the CVS next door and buy a pack of gum with a debit card and get $20 back.) Occassionally, you will notice that there are customers waiting for a specific barber. I would try to get one of them or you might get an experience like the one Ian posted. (My reccomendation are for the vietnamese ladies and the middle aged caucasian.) They take their time and make sure they understand what you want first before they do anything. Some of the other barbers just start cutting away and try to start chatter with you. Being a guy, Im not interested in talking about myself alrhough I understand they are trying to develop a rapport to get you to come back. I feel that the Rockville Barber Shop is a place I can go without having to wait very long. There are no thrills or frills here. This is my type a place, where I can walk in, get my hair cut and roll out.

This is the first review of any kind that I have ever written and I am doing this as a public warning. The man who cut my hair redefined "incompetent". After getting clear instructions about the amount that I needed cutting he then spent the next 20 minutes messing around with the back and sides, and diid nothing with the top except for wetting it down and combing it. I swear he must have used 4 different types of clipper blades on the sideburns alone. He took WAY too much off the sides and back (he had my back to the mirror si I couldnt see the damage until too late) and not one clip off the top. He was bemused when I asked him to cut the top and started doing one hair at a time along the front. It was a bloody nightmare. If you want a really crappy experience, try it for yourself.

I have gotten consistently good haircuts on Sunday afternoons from one of the Vietnamese ladies who works there for several years. She takes her time and does a thorough job. That experience alone is well worth the $14 (before tip) they charge for a mans haircut. Craftsmanship is a dying art in the world of business, but it is alive and well at the Rockville Barbershop. This is one "door" North of the ChickenOut on the East side of Rockville Pike, across the Pike from Staples.

Like someone else said, they only know one cut. I dont think the guy could understand what I was saying because what I got (and have gotten for the past 10 years) is nothin close to what I asked for. If you are under 40 and want a contemporary haircut, go somewhere else. If you want a traditional part and comb over, well this place is for you.

Stay away. How does a taper and trim turn into a sloppy buzzcut? After a haircut from this place, reactions ranged from, "did you lose a bet?" to "do you have lice?" and hushed laughter. The younger non-asian with glasses is particularly effective at executing a birth control haircut. Stay the hell away if you think hair is important.

the Vietnamese lady on sunday who is on your left as you walk in is wonderful. Also during the week the Vietnamese guy straight ahead as you walk in . The rest I wouldnt let them cut a piece of lettuce. Price is cheap.

Service is great and its cheap. They do their job professionally and thats what I expect from a hair cut. I recommend this to everybody who wants a hair cut cheap and w/o the fancy stuff.

They only do one cut, a choppy uneven buzz cut. If you want anything besides that, stay away.
