Ive been with Arthur Murray Cambridge for the last four months, and I couldnt be happier! Three reasons its so awesome: it is a great place for beginners, it has a terrific community, and the teachers are wonderful. Before Arthur Murray, my formal dance training extended to little more than an hours training in gym class so that I, and all my friends, could have a dance with our parents for 8th grade graduation. Thus, I was mildly afraid of embarrassing myself when I walked in the door. And sure enough, Ive lost track of how many times Ive stepped on my partners toes, messed up a fancy hairstyle, and even socked my partner on the nose! So heres the first thing I love about Arthur Murray - all of that clumsiness is forgiven (or so I think). Its a place where you can be comfortable learning and dont need to worry about being a beginner or having your inner klutz ruin things for you. I realize I originally said that Arthur Murray has a terrific community, but that is only half the truth. It is also an open, yet close-knit and supportive, family. Now, a lot of places like to say they are a "family," but Arthur Murray is one of those few gems where the term actually fits. The other students here are the first part of this family. Everyone here is so welcoming that the Thursday evening parties, where everyone gets together to dance, are as much about dancing as getting to know everyone else. Some of the dancers whove been with Arthur Murray for a while even talk about how the experience has completely changed their social circles. The studios teachers are the second part of this family, and they are amazing!!! You will largely work one-on-one with a specific teacher and then choose some (free) group classes to supplement your learning. This system ultimately gives you flexibility for your busy schedule and makes sure you get the individual attention you need to make good progress. The teachers are all professional and experienced and will design a personalized regimen for you to meet your own goals. I have especially enjoyed developing a relationship with my own teacher, and Ive found that this relationship makes lessons more enjoyable and productive. As I said - I couldnt be happier!

If youve ever wanted to learn ballroom dancing, now may be the time, and this is definitely the place! I was very nervous to actually commit to taking my first steps on the floor after years of watching others, both in my family and on Dancing with the Stars. Three months ago, I signed up for my first free lesson at Arthur Murray Cambridge and it has been the best thing I have ever done for myself. I know that my positive experience has been because of the expertise and warmth of the instructors, Kia, Kate and Christian, and because of the close community they are creating in a beautiful new studio near the Alewife T Station. The structure of the program has been fine-tuned for decades and it is designed to take you from right where you are to the level of performance you desire, no matter if you feel challenged by moving to music or have a natural sense of rhythm. It has really worked for me. As someone who has felt challenged learning physical skills, I have felt remarkably comfortable with the pace of the lessons. In fact, I feel so excited each time, the 45 minutes seems to go way too fast. The combination of private lessons, group classes and practice nights is fantastic. Enrolling in a private lesson allows you to attend all of the other weekly events at your level as part of the package. I signed up by myself, so I take private lessons with my instructor, Christian, but I also have fun with Kate and Kia in the group classes and on practice nights. They make it so safe to get out there and try, even if you are just beginning. I love the people at this studio! Ive quickly gotten to know many others in the same boat--folks of all ages, shapes and sizes, in it together--figuring it out and steadily gaining confidence and skill. You get a hefty workout while learning to look great on the dance floor. You can do this! Come and join the supportive, growing community at Arthur Murray Cambridge.

I had an excellent experience taking classes at the Arthur Murray Dance Center in Cambridge, and I highly recommend the studio to anyone looking to learn to dance. I was first given a free introductory lesson, and I felt very comfortable right away. My instructor, Kia, helped me figure out how a five class session could help me accomplish my goals of learning several new dance styles, such as salsa, waltz and tango, and feeling more comfortable on the dance floor. I was given helpful guidance in a fun and lighthearted atmosphere, and found myself learning the moves very quickly under Kias friendly tutelage. I even was able to bring in my own music and learn how to dance to it! In addition to private lessons, I was also able to attend many of the practice parties, which provided an opportunity for me to dance with fellow students, and to learn to dance with a variety of partners. The parties were accompanied by lovely snacks and drinks, and felt festive and fun. Really, they were very much an extension of the warm and welcoming atmosphere that the dance center provides. Kia and Arthur Murray gave me the skills and confidence that I wanted when I first entered the studio, and I will put putting these assets to good use on the dance floor soon. If you are interested in learning some basics of dance, or in improving your abilities, you will be well served by checking out this up and coming Cambridge studio.

From the very first moment I walked into the Arthur Murray Cambridge studio, I was hooked. Kia and Christian greeted me warmly and made me feel very welcomed. For several months I had been wanting to try ballroom dancing and when I noticed that a studio had opened up close to work, I thought I would give it a try. Im so glad I did!! From someone who is a bit on the timid side, I was a little bit hesitant to actually get myself to commit to going. But once I did, I never looked back. The group classes are a great way to practice all the new skills you will learn in your private lessons as well as a way to meet new and amazing people. The space alone is so beautiful with gorgeous chandeliers and lots of natural light. I feel challenged just enough and love the interaction I have with my instructor. I am motivated to push myself out of my comfort zone and I have the support of all the astounding and talented instructors in the studio to help me achieve all of my dancing goals. Whether youre a couple looking for that perfect first dance at your wedding or youre someone who is looking for a fun new hobby and to meet new friends, this is the place to do just that!!!!

One of the teachers and franchisee at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Cambridge, Ms Kia Kenney.... she was my first teacher! I met her in a chance social event and was intrigued by the thought of taking lessons. Well, now it is my passion. I ballroom dance about 3-5 times per week. At AM you can take lessons, attend group lessons and get involved in a social world of like great, minded people. At every lesson I learn, she meets me with a smile and gives just the right encouragement... to make it all fun. I sometimes wonder what Id be doing in my life now if Id not found ballroom dancing. My children are grown and living in LA. I also want to say that I have gone elsewhere, but the quality of the teachers, the teaching and the entire experience at AM is second to none. You feel so welcome every time. Also, their system of teaching is proven. They teach in a tiered method, growing your dancing at the right time and speed. They know what they are doing and it shows. Love it.
