Tldr; My hair cut is a mess, so choppy that even a ponytail doesnt look neat. Overpriced and not worth your time! I have given it time and washed my hair several times since my cut/dry to see what I can do, but I need to spend money on another cut to fix her work. I paid her a visit to talk about my dissatisfaction with the services specifically, remaining calm and collected, but Patricia attacked my character; she is pompous, rude, argumentative and doesnt understand customer service etiquette. Full review: Id never been to Monument Style before and thought Id mix it up and give it a go! Patricia cut my hair and Ive never had such a bad experience, with such bad results. The cut/blow dry was painful at times, lots of tugging/tearing (my partner was there and described me as nearly being lifted from the seat!) I asked for my hair to be cut 2-3", for long layers, for there to be a V shape at the back, and for my bangs to be trimmed/blended into the rest of my hair; none of which was achieved. The bangs are a disaster and Ill have to grow them out again before their next styling. She hadnt blended them into my hair and when I asked her to do this she trimmed too much off resulting in them being shorter and thinned out, but still not blended. After blow drying my hair she proceeded to curl a few strands, which Im lead to believe is what concealed the choppy and inconsistent hair length when holding the mirror to the back of my head. After a two hour cut and dry I was ready to get out of there (Ive never sat for so long!) and although not thrilled with the bangs, it seemed alright and I decided to go along with Patricias philosophy of live in it for a day and see how you feel... I got home and the curls had fallen out—so the choppiness was obvious—and my family commented on how there were sections of hair missing. I typically have long layers, but they are supposed to fall together and give the hair volume—not appear scattered and choppy! Im not sure what shape it was cut in either, because it isnt anything close to a V shape and there are chunks that clearly stick out. To fix it up before going out that night I tried straightening it to see if that would help at all, nope! It was an absolute mess... Ive had to put it up and pin the bangs back. I have pictures but it seems I cant add them to a review? Now I need to drop more money on a shorter cut to neaten it up and the bangs are a lost cause until they grow out! Not worth $72. I paid up at the time because it seemed ok and yes, it is her time, but I didnt realize just how badly it was cut. I went back the day after to discuss my dissatisfaction without the intent of making a scene or posting on social media, hoping it could be resolved. A partial refund for a new hair cut would have been appreciated, but all Patricia wanted to do was argue that she was entirely in the right. I understand that it was her time, but it was my time and appearance as well, and this is the worst hair cut I have ever received. She did offer to cut it more, but I would rather put my hair in the hands of a skilled hairdresser. During our discussion she informed me I dont have any hairdresser certifications, which is true, but I have had long hair my entire life—and as most have experienced at least once, there have been times I havent entirely loved the results—but I have never had such an awful cut which actually needed to be fixed! When leaving I said that I will be reviewing her poorly and she said she didnt mind, comparing herself to Donald Trump, speaking along the lines of: "He has a bad reputation, but look at him—hes our president!" Clearly she doesnt care about her reputation & quality of cuts, but rather being in the black and making a profit. No wonder most of her clients are one-time Colonial Inn visitors! Some salons I have had better experiences at are Serenity Spa & Salon, Salon at 142, InStyle, and Dellaria! Never have I required my hair to be cut again.

I had my haircut at Monument Style last Saturday. It was the best hair cut ever! I couldnt recommend Patricia more. She showed me three different styles for the same haircut. She also made sure the style and the length were exactly what I wanted. She is the queen of customer service and attention to detail! I am very health conscious, and liked the paraben-free and phthalate-free products she used on my hair. Monument Style is the place for me. Experience it for yourself.

I wanted to give a new local salon a try and WOW, I was spoiled!! Patricia spent a great deal of time learning my hair before coloring it-- I swear, she colored it strand-by-strand--meticulous! She also gave me a wonderful manicure while my hair processed. I came out not only with a great new color & look, but a better understanding of how to work with my hair. Looking forward to my next appointment, but I cant stay as long--even if I want to!!! Amazing!

This may be the worst Salon in the history of the United States, which is SUCH a shame because it sits in the midst of so much great history of the United States. Sometimes I wish this Salon (perhaps sheep shearer is more apt a description) existed during the Revolutionary War, because we would have sent British prisoners to Monument Style and then paraded them around the square.
