I have been getting my haircut in Ann Arbor for over 25 years. A couple of years ago I was lucky to find Martys Hair Care and have not gone to anyone else since then. Marty is an excellent barber. He has been cutting hair for decades and knows how to listen and get things done exactly how you want it. All the previous places I went to like Borics and Fantastic Sams were terrible. Those places are filled with part timers, recent “graduates” and other people you should never let touch your hair. I must have had my hair cut by at least 100 people over the last 25 years at those lousy $9 haircut places. None of those “stylists” ever lasted more than a year at the same place. So you get what you pay for. Marty charges a reasonable amount for an excellent result. I don’t know what the other review was all about. Every hair salon you will ever go to will have, god forbid, hair on the floor. That lady sounds like she is out of touch and has unrealistic expectations. Although it does have older equipment, this place is just as clean as any other salon in town. Give Marty’s a try, I bet you will be back again.

I took my son to get his haircut by Marty. The salon itself is now State St. Salon (it used to be Shear EnV) and is a nice salon. Marty is independent working with in State St. His prices are almost double the salons!! While my son was getting his haircut I noticed that Martys station was extremly dirty, there was hair all over his stuff and nothing looked sanatized. he didnt even sweep the last persons hair before thaking my son!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hair cut was ok, but not what I wanted. I really wished that I would have just gone to one of the stylist that work for State St. Salon. The lady at the front was friendly and gave my son stickers and a sucker. The other stylist satations were clean and organized, they were polite and friendly. NEVER GO TO MARTY!!!!!!!!! BUT DONT LET MARTY MAKE A BAD IMPRESSION ON STATE ST. SALON!!!!!!!!!!!

Marty is without peer as a barber/stylist. He shapes and layers his cuts so well that my hair still looks good when I return for the next cut! I first went to Marty in the 70s. Through the years, my work schedule occasionally required that I obtain a haircut from someone else. I was never satisfied. I always went back to Marty, and Ive been a regular customer for over 20 years. I highly recommend that you give Marty a chance to improve your hairstyle.

Marty has been my barber since 1995. He provides an excellent haircut every time. Every month I walk in, take a seat, and he provides the same haircut / style. I think he has a template that he uses because it is that precise each time. I drive from Livonia to Ann Arbor each month, because of the quality. Thank you Marty !!!

Marty is the best you will find in Ann Arbor. I just moved to Ann abor and had few bad experiences until I found Martys.
