I would not recommend this funeral home at all. I am only giving it 1 star because I have to. But it was the worst funeral home I have ever been at. Our family has always been to Lucilles Funeral Home in Ypsilanti a beautiful place. My Mom passed away in March of 2014 and we had her viewing the beginning of April and I didnt go til that day and it was dirty and had a mildrew smell. The front was not appealing at all, old and run down. They show you there nicer place at a different location. The letters was falling off, graffiti writing on the garage. The obituary was done poorly the picture was blurry and didnt represent my Mom at all. Thank God my sisters boss did some also and they where beautiful. It was bad, a bad set up all around all my family could do was cry when we got there and say she did not want to be there, but we had no choice due to her husband having say over everything. The only thing that was nice was how she looked and her casket that was it.

I personally would not recommend this Funeral Home. These people only care about money. They took advantage of our family and asked us to come up with a large amount of money or there wouldnt be a Funeral. When we decided to switch Funeral Homes, they charged us over $2000 and wouldnt release the deceased body until 10:00 PM the night before the Funeral. They are unprofessional and in business for money. They do not care about grieving families. They are liars and overcharge their customers. For example, they charged $300 for a fuel charge and $300 for an Assignment Fee. What in the world is an assignment fee. I have heard feedback for Pastors in Detroit and Jackson that people should not deal with this Funeral Home. There are much better Funeral Homes in Detroit like McFall, Stinson, Coles, etc.

A family member referred us to The House of Johnson Funeral Home when my brother was tragically murdered out of state. The entire staff showed us so much dignity and compassion during this time of confusion and extreme grief. Due to my brothers injuries we didnt know if we would be able to have an open casket. House of Johnson did an amazing job and we were able to say goodbye to our beloved in peace. From the first telephone call to the last point of contact they were professional and caring. During the viewing they even offered a space where we could have refreshments. We received our thank you cards already addressed and ready to be mailed. That extra touch was like a final hug from the entire staff. Thank you House of Johnsons for a job well done.

Mr. Johnson has always done a fantastic job. We used him for both our parents and other relatives. He really takes care of the families needs. Who else comes to your home to pick up clothing, brings everything into your home. Keep up the good work Mr. Johnson.
