I read the review below when I was researching daycare options for my infant, and it terrified me; however, since it was only one review I wanted to check it out for myself since the daycare was such a great location for our family (and get some actual parent reviews, since they would have a more comprehensive view of the facility). We considered in-home as well as large chain centers, and found this to be a nice blend of the two. Is it immaculate inside? No. But neither is my house. And perhaps the current - soon-to-be-retired I hear - director/owner isnt overflowing with chattiness, but I have seen her holding, rocking and kissing my baby on more than one occassion. The facility is in a church basement (no religious affiliation, however, they just rent the space), yes, but it is sweet in its simplicity in my opinion. There seems to be structure, but not too much structure. THe kids spend a lot of time outside, weather permitting. They have art projects and field trips. There is an educational component for the non-infants. I have seen sign-up sheets for computer classes, and I think they offer add-on classes like tumbling and soccer. If youre looking for Montessori or Reggio Emilia approaches though, this isnt your place. Its more straightforward. But in getting to know the ladies who care for my baby, I can honestly say that they are warm, and approach these babies with sensitivity, affection and a great sense of humor. As far as Im concerned, theyre saints. They make recommendations and observations in an appropriate and very helpful way, and my daughter is always changed into her spare clothes which tells me they dont let her sit around in her soggy drooly spitup clothes all day. They give me updates on what she did, what her mood was, and provide a detailed account of her naps, feedings and diapers. Ive had to stop in unannounced on a few occasions and what I see is always consistent with the environment that is presented at peak times when parents are present. Ive stopped in just as the toddlers are winding down for naptime, which consists of dimmed lights, a story, and classical music playing in the background. I can live with that. A good friend of mine told me when I had anxiety about finding the perfect daycare option that there will always be something that is less than perfect - because its my baby, and of course we want perfection for our babies. But I cant even provide that, and she is mine; it seems unfair to expect perfection at all times. They take care of the important things very well in my opinion (this aligns with what I was told by the referral parents I spoke with when searching). Im okay with pieces of paper on the floor. And regarding dianes review below, the reference to the smell...to me, it reminds me of going to sunday school as a little kid. It smells like crayons and snacks and paste and graham crackers and yes, occasionally, someones diaper or not-quite-potty-trained outfit. Look, if you walked in my house at the wrong moment you might catch the same thing - just give me a second to get that diaper changed and the air will clear : )

I have gone to LHCCC for 2 years and have been very happy with the care. We have been in the infant and toddler room. The infant room had amazing staff. You could tell they truly loved their jobs and care about your baby. I echo the other reviewers comment about helpful suggestions. They provided sincere feedback without ever being judgmental. I always felt very comfortable leaving my baby in their care. The center is in a basement of a church so was not built for a childcare center. It is not the best physical space I have ever seen, but I was more concerned about who would be holding and caring for my baby than the physical space she was in. Others may have a different opinion. I find it interesting that another reviewer said it was the mix of a center and in-home care as I have described it as such to my family and friends. I think that is a very appropriate summary. For the reviewer who commented on the citations, I do suggest you read them. They include things like leaving diaper rash ointment under the changing station and not posting the license in a visible location. I went to the department of human services site and looked at 5 centers within close proximity to my house. All 5 had correction orders with various citations. I believe it is worthwhile to review to determine which citations you can live with (one had a citation for torn carpet) and which ones you cant. Overall, I would say my experience has been very good.

The director of the program (Jane) was lazy and horrible when I went for a tour. Jane, was closed off, let the babies cry without getting up to get them and console them. When I went to ask about openings, she had short responses and further stated well what do you want a tour or something, acting as if I were wasting her time. I only hope the other instructors there are kind to the children. I was so horrified I walked right out. The place smells, there is no fresh air since it is in the basement. When we dropped by, the floors in the rooms were dirty, covered in bits of paper.
