Ive had experience with both the clerical and industrial sides: Registered online with the clerical side and advised the office that my most recent experiences with MS Office applications were with Office 2010; however, I was asked to complete testing for Office 2003. I went into the office a few days later, received my results, and reiterated that my test scores were low due to the MS Office version that the testing was for. The clerical office re-tested me for Office 2010, and my scores reflected intermediate - advanced knowledge on most MS Office 2010 apps. My typing test results indicated a speed of 60 wpm; however, the 10-key test score was low. When I indicated my willingness to receive further training on 10-key, I wasnt offered any resources or additional training to improve those scores. During my visit with the clerical side, I asked if I needed to fill out paperwork so that I could be placed when a position was found for me. I was advised that I would be asked to return to fill out this paperwork if a position was found for me. After calling the office twice a week for two months to notify Penmac Clerical of my availability, I gave up and started applying for positions on the industrial side. Industrial side: This is when I discovered that the clerical office had no intention of placing me... I was considered "inactive" because I didnt fill out paperwork. My first visit didnt go so well... The associate didnt seem to understand that Id filled out my paperwork online, and that all I needed to do was sign it. She had me fill out more than one I-9; which caused confusion later on when that I-9 was deactivated in the system. She then advised me that while I didnt "qualify for a position in HR," that I should qualify for positions on the clerical side. I refrained from advising her that the posters that the company had were outdated because they did not indicate Missouris minimum wage, and told her that the clerical side didnt have any openings for me. Once the paperwork was done, I was referred to another associate who was bored and could have cared less about finding me a job. She told me to call in my availability twice a week; which I did for the next two months. After getting the run-around for two months, I went back in to the industrial office to see what was going on. Apparently the mistake with the I-9 caused my account to show as inactive, and my calls for the past two months had been disregarded because I was shown as inactive. The situation was rectified, and I was given a position that day. I was assigned to a client where most of the workforce are temps. My supervisor, another temp, decided that she didnt like me. It was in the middle of summer, and she repeatedly assigned me to physically demanding tasks every day. One day I started exhibiting signs of heat exhaustion, and she ignored them. I went home early that day, and sought medical treatment for heat exhaustion. I advised Penmac of the situation with the supervisor, I was advised that the supervisor would be disciplined, and was assured that the agency would find me another position. Ive stopped by the office and called in for the past three months, and Penmac has yet to place me with another client; despite the fact that I didnt alert Workers Compensation of the incident, and the fact that the E.R. visit came out of my pocket.

My experience is with the industial side of this office. Im not sure how their internal system works. But it seems that if you are a first-timer and will accept any job, you will probably get a decent position with plenty of hours. My friend was able to eventually get a raise at his first job through Penmac, while i actually had to give up my first job from them for school and was thus bounced around for a while. Im not sure if works this way but it seems like it. Expect jobs with an hourly wage of $7.50-$9.00 and a few rare $10.00 and $12 gigs. Dont expect to be hired by the company you are placed at, they are contractually bound to work you for something like 480 hours before hiring is even an option. Also saying you work for Penmac can bring somewhat of a stigma in this town, so be prepared for people to be rude or discredit it in our resume. That said, the people in the main office are nice, and I somewhat enjoy physical labor, and sometimes working outside. Also you can meet some interesting and friendly people on the job. Can be a good job for students.

Penmac is the worst temp agency I have ever tryed working for I had received a temppermanent job placement Friday to start on monday.i figured ok im good show up at my time set and ill make some money for doing work . what I received on Monday when arrived to the job I was placed at was a bunch of questions. Saying I was not on a list to work there nor was penmac sopose to do work for that company till 4to 6 hours later and in any case my name wasnt on the work list. So I said ok ill return to penmac to figure out what is going on bare in mind I live about an hours drive to the nearest penmac. What I was told was no help what so ever I was told from the same person that gave me the work at penmac is quote "I gave them the paperwork and there is still work there" so I asked do I need to go back? Was told quote "will give you a call". All other questions was replaced with the same awnser "will give you a call" i have sat here for 4 hours in the office with name on waiting list to speak with someone name was not called. no resolve nor even an effort to resolve
