One user said that they felt the staff was not good with little kids, which doesnt square with our experience at all -- our daughter started there around the age of 5, and the staff were very good with the little uns. They do uphold high (but age-appropriate) standards, and maintain the traditions (e.g., long hair must be in a bun). Some parents see this as overly restrictive, but most children understand that this means that theyre serious -- and kids absolutely crave serious adult attention. As for not being late, well, thats part of the tradition too. In fact, when my daughter was older, she insisted on being there 15-20 min early so she would be at the bar, dressed, warmed up, and ready to go at class time. The technical training is very good. With the basic training she got at LBS, my daughter was admitted to high-quality summer programs and ended up at one of the best professional dance conservatories in the country. What does set LBS apart, though, is the extraordinary performance opportunities they offer young dancers through their associated performance arm, City Center Ballet. Every year they put on a partial Nutcracker, with almost entirely homegrown talent, and also do a "big" ballet in the spring -- the last few offerings were the Prokofiev Cinderella, Giselle, and The Sleeping Beauty. These are performed in a real theater (Lebanon Opera House) with professional stage crews and outstanding costuming. Even at my daughters conservatory, there are very few dancers who have performed such demanding roles as Giselle.

My daughter joined the Teen class at Lebanon Ballet School after being away from ballet for a few years. We chose LBS specifically for this class geared towards older, returning ballet students and first time teen ballet dancers, even though the school is an hour and a half away from where we live. It has been a wonderful experience for my daughter. She has learned so much in the last six months. This school is the real thing - real technique and real skills (with the vocabulary to go with it). My daughter has also benefited from the increased confidence that comes with approaching a difficult discipline and succeeding. The teachers are supportive and knowledgeable and encourage students to do their best. Their expectations are high, and I appreciate that. To respond to another reviewers remark "dont dare show up late" - The teens in this class (and other classes, too, from what I can see) take dancing seriously. It is respectful to them and the instructors to show up on time and ready for class. Frowning upon habitual lateness is not a negative in my book, especially when students are learning an art that requires discipline. I would highly recommend Lebanon Ballet School to anyone who has a teen dancer, whether their student has been away from ballet for a few years or is new to it.

After I was placed by a pleasant staff in class when I wanted to start dance classes three years ago, Ive been extremely satisfied with the quality of training Ive received. After just one full year of dance, I was accepted into my first ballet summer intensive with Burklyn Ballet, and the next summer went to Interlochen Arts Intensive (ballet major). My peers who have danced longer than I, have gone to places for summer and/or full-year training at Miami City Ballet, Ellison Ballet (NYC), Alvin Ailey, and many other prestigious programs. In addition to the training, my experience learning the discipline of ballet has given me: physical fitness, the ability to move fluidly, time management, work ethic, and commitment to the group all of which have helped me with other aspects of my life. LBS is my supportive second family who welcomes all who are committed.

My daughter was a student at Lebanon Ballet School for 12 years. She received an excellent dance education in a nurturing environment. Because of the training she received she auditioned and was accepted into competitive summer dance intensives at Boston Ballet and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. Being a company member of City Center Ballet gave her numerous performance opportunities where she progressed to the role of principal dancer. She is currently pursuing her BFA in Dance at Point Park University in Pittsburgh and hopes to dance professionally after college.

the staff at Lebanon Ballet School are a highly motivated professional group of people dedicated to instilling the discipline and art of dance. They really instill a sense of self motivation, balance and commitment that i find helps my child on a daily basis in all areas of life. I find that most other dance programs for younger children are disorganized and chaotic. I am pleased with the level commitment to guidelines and structure Lebanon Ballet School provides. I am very glad my daughter has an opportunity to work with such a professional group.

Extremely unfriendly and rude. I would not recommend this place for any parent who is looking for their kid to have a fun place to learn ballet. The instructors we encountered were rude and not very accommodating when it came to little kids (ages 5 & under)learning this art. Little kids will be little kids, cannot change that. The instructors do not know how to cater to this age group. Also they seem like they were in it only for the money. And they were crabby!!!! Do not dare come late to a class. They are not flexible.

I studied at this ballet school for almost 10 years and I dont think it gets better. The skills I learned at LBS have helped me in every part of my life. I learned discipline, respected, and compassion. And beyond that, I came in to dance without any flexibility or coordination and now, I am in the most Advanced level of dance at my high school. I dont think there is a ballet school as good as this and the friends I made at LBS are still my closest friends today. Thank you LBS!

Excellent school - My daughter has been with this school for 8 years. She has had exceptional performance opportunities and high quality technical training. Dancers from this school go on to very prestigious dance programs. The instruction the students receive is age appropriate, supportive, and creative.
