We moved here in the Summer and we were under the gun to find quality daycare for our two kids, aged 4 and 4 months. A friend recommended Wonder Years, as her daughter went there, and another friend of mine used to work there and enjoyed it. We were able to squeak in with little notice. They have a great group of friendly, knowledgeable, energetic and caring teachers who work here. The owner is very accommodating and kind as well - shes very invested not only in the business but especially with the kids. My oldest gets the structure, instruction, play, and care that she needs, and Im kept apprised of her progress and how her day went. They were careful to assess her development, so she went into Pre-K. The infant room teachers are very kind and knowledgeable about infant development, and they give each child the attention they need, so I know my son is well taken care of too. They call me when they need to (illness). The only downside is the amount of germs going around - but stick large groups of kids together who hug, kiss and otherwise slobber on each other and they are bound to get sick. They clean all of the toys and rooms every day, and they have an air purification system so it doesnt reek in there like some places I toured. (Little Sprouts - the infant room gagged me!) What they cant do though is prevent parents from bringing in their sick kids. They are also highly organized and send home calendars and newsletters, and other notices as they need to in an effort to keep the parents involved and updated, which is nice. As a busy mom who works full time outside of the home, I get peace of mind when I drop my kids off for the day, and that means everything.

I went to visit the school to see if this was where I wanted to send my daughter. The older kids were preparing for graduation the day I visited. The school was very crowded. It looked like the teachers were not that great too. While on the bottom level of the school looking at the preschool/ kindergarten area, i saw and heard one of the teachers yelling at the kids for about three minutes. Now, I know three minutes do not seem like much. But time yourself for three minutes and you will see how long it is. I just kept looking at her. After a while one of the other teacher pulled her aside and (I figured told her that I was observing) after which the young teacher gave me a cheezy smile, like that makes everything OK... I told that to the assistant director who was showing us around and she acted like she had hearing issues and that she didnt hear anything. The whole situation was disturbing. The assistant director was standing about a foot away from me. To make matter worse, the same teacher who did the yelling pulled one child real hard by his arm. I am sure that if it was any harder, she would have dislocated the arm. Then while looking at the outside play area, there was an old man there with the kids. I asked who he was to which the assistant director said that he is the husband of one of the teachers who helps out... Of course, my child will not be attending this school.

We have sent both of our daughters to WYLC to the Salem, NH location and have had nothing but great things to say about Cheryl, Mike and the staff. Recently, one of our children became seriously sick and the outreach they have shown to support my family has been nothing short of astounding. Even before that incident, our oldest daughter blossomed socially and emotionally, largely in part due to the staff on hand. Highly recommended for sure.

We couldnt be happier with WYLC, both the Derry and Salem locations. Both of my kids have been there for several years. They are always patient, engaging, and informative regarding daily activity. They always worked with us, in any way they could. It will be a sad day when our youngest enters first grade and will no longer be enrolled. Highly recommend.
