Pete N.....A little over a year ago my wife and I started our journey of ballroom dance at Fred Astaire – Upper Montclair. From the first night we were met with smiles, encouragement and a feeling that we belonged to this group of people who seemed to be perpetually happy. The studio is a place of music and laughter, a place of good times and a place of physical challenge. After only a short time I found that ballroom dance provides me with a vehicle for expression that I have only dreamt about. As an introvert the thought of dancing in front of others was out of the question but the professional instructors helped me navigate in and out of the layers of what I call my “comfort zone”. Throughout this ongoing journey I have been challenged, frustrated, enlightened, had sleepless nights, laughed and smiled. I am and will always be learning to dance but something else is happening along the way, something completely serendipitous. I have become a different person...I have grown physically, mentally and spiritually.

I purchased a group of classes and lessons for my wifes birthday in Feb 2013. It has been the best experience we have ever had and are still having. We looked into Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Montclair but choose Fred Astaire and I am glad we did. Carrie, the owner, is a wonderful person and is truly interested in what you want and will create a program to fit. No high pressure sales tactics. I highly recommend this studio, 5+ stars, whether you want to learn just for social dancing or if you want to get serious about dancing for competitions. They are professional, knowledgeable and talented.You will not regret it. We sure havent!

For the past 8 years, Fred Astaire Dance Studio has been a part of our lives. From the moment you walk in the door you are met with smiles and kindness. My daughter started dancing there 5 years ago and is now an accomplished ballroom dancer. I would highly recommend this studio. The wonderful people at Fred Astaire Upper Montclair will become a part of your life - your family. Great music, great people, great teachers, great classes.. What more could you want?

I have two reasons now to say that Fred Astaire is a truly wonderful place. First, I am celebrating my 6th year with the studio and I have enjoyed every class, every show, every moment there. The teachers are awesome and the fellow students have become a part of my live. Second, we just moved to a new location in Cedar Grove. It’s beautiful and fresh, and I look forward to meeting even more new enthusiastic students.

George and Lanie have danced at FADS of Upper Montclair for 11 years. We think there is nothing more wonderful that we can do together than ballroom dancing, as we have learned to do it from our instructors, Carrie and Kostadin. They are champions, and we look forward to every lesson with them.

Its surprising how fun it is to try something new. The instructors are incredible and the facility always boasts an exciting new theme or event. Everyone should take some lessons and become a solid social dancer.
