Locked out of my place at 1:30 am on 3/14/15. Called one of those "call-center" numbers that came up on the top of a Google search and it just sounded shady. HOW TO SPOT: 1) A shady website will say "local" an awful lot, and theyll list a bunch of towns that they service 2) A genuine companys website will (generally) have pictures of their van(s) or storefront because they know that the shady ones dont have that 3) Reviews: even these arent fool proof, because the shady companies still do that to seem legit, you need to sort through the BS ones. 4) If you call a number and they say a "technician will call you back", its a scam. No one should have to call you back. 5) Never fall for the $19 or $39 "15 min or less" tag line. Depending on the time of day, it should cost about $100 to pick your lock and itll take 3 seconds. NJ Locksmith - I got their name from my apartments management company, again its 1:30 am, and I was a little weary of the name (because thats the typical generic name most shady companies use). But then I saw their website - complete with address, van pics, and a little history about the company. That was enough for me. I called them up and they said theyd be there in 20-25 minutes. I said I was bringing cash so how much exactly do I need (thats a good way to dissuade a potential scam artist too, sometimes). The guy comes, nice big van with company info all over it, and no drill - thats key. If they show up with a drill, just stop it right there. 99% of the time they can pick it. So this guy was great, he picked the lock in 3 seconds flat, I paid him the $120 (no problem with that price at that hour, the poor guy looked real tired.) I had just spent about 15 minutes reading about the whole scam that I almost fell victim of, so the fact that I just spent 2 hours outside in the cold, and this guy didnt take advantage of me made me give him the firmest handshake most genuine thank you ever. Theres something to be said about someone who can clearly rip you off, but doesnt. I dont know, maybe Im jaded and shouldnt expect so little of people, but I dont think Im alone in that.

My first time going here was a last resort to get a new electronic key fob for my used Toyota recently bought that didnt have it when purchased. A previous locksmith I went to was unable to complete the job. Another so called auto locksmith said it was too difficult. Dealer wanted a lot more money than I was willing to pay. So I went here to North Bergen on a Saturday without an appointment. The lady there completed the job relatively quickly with no hassle or trying to get me to do or order things I didnt need. I was able to test all keys before paying and was explained exactly what needed to be done. I was very pleased and price very reasonable. I will definitely go here again for any type of locksmith needs. Price was less than half of what dealer wanted plus both my old keys work as spares which wouldnt have been the case going to the dealer. I recommend checking here first before going to a dealer for any types of auto keys. Would also go here for any residential key needs also.

Called and told them that I needed a set of keys for my 2007 mazda 5. My spare wasnt working (the remote part). Dealer wanted an arm and a leg, and NJ Locksmith quoted me half of what the delaer wanted, and he had my key in stock! I went the next day, and within 20 mins, I got 2 sets of new keys. I should also mentioned that he reflashed my key, so whoever found my old key cant use it to open the car and drive away with it………. If you need a new set of keys and you have one of those fancy keyfobs, Id check these guys out first. I traveled from Queens, New York because no one around me can do it. I found one excellent, helpful locksmith in Brooklyn, but he wanted almost as much as the dealer.

AUTO TRANSPONDER KEYS! I needed two extra transponder keys for my new vehicle and the dealer wanted nearly $200 each. NJ Locksmith cut, programmed the two transponder keys blanks (that I purchased on E-bay for $12 each) and reprogrammed all of the existing keys for about $100. Dave responded promptly to my email questions and the young lady in the store (forgot to ask for her name) couldnt have been nicer. Also they have a nice website. I highly recommend them.

Just lost my keys to my Honda Civic 2002, great service as well reasonable price compare to other companies and dealerships. Lady on the phone was very helpful, and it took about 30-45 minute for everything to be programmed.I will recommend this place.

Knowledgeable and informative locksmith. Prices to fix a car remote were much cheaper than dealer, and doesnt keep you waiting as long as dealers always do. Bring a quarter for street parking.

I made 9 copies of my key but only 3 would work. The guy copied my key quickly and careless. Expensive and worst service ever. Never go back again.
