No-nonsense old-school style barber shop. Leave your political correctness at the door and enjoy a great cut and/or shave by a long-term Astorian. Alex, the owner and main barber is meticulous with the clippers and shears. He does a great job every time, with just the right amount of time. He never rushes and never takes too long like some other barbers. I guess you could say hes got it into the Goldie-Lox zone. Ive never had to wait more than 2-3 people in line to get seated, but it can get busy. Alex encourages folks to call in and check on the wait. The reading material is always fresh and in good condition. You wont find worn, dated, year-old issues of the same Maxim or Road & Track like some other places. Hes got the good stuff too. Popular Science, National Geographic. More than just bro-mags. Stuff to feed your senses and your brain a little. Ive only been going to Alex for about 6 months now since leaving my old barber shop for reasons we wont speak of, but I have to say Im very please with the experience and getting a haircut is an even shorter walk for me now. I will continue to frequent this establishment as long as Im an Astoria resident and have hair.

Worst haircut i have ever experienced in NYC. One young barber even didnt know what he was doing and asked his more experienced co-worker to finish his job. When I got home and washed my head i realized how bad the haircut was done, taking into acoount that i asked him just to trim my hair with already know nozzle number. Totally unprofessional work and attitude.

Doesnt pay attention while cutting your hair - would rather be watching TV. Does not shave your neck. Does not follow through with timing. Im lazy and live blocks away. This would have been the perfect situation. 1 star for good price.
