Anthony is a very good barber and prices are reasonable. He has been in business a long time and he knows, from past experience, that certain days business is sometimes slow so he will decide to close early rather than waiting 2 hours without a customer. This is a classic barber shop and the kids with their fancy fades, streaks and coloring probably go to Super Cuts where they can feel more comfortable with a younger peer doing their style. Most any barber shop can give you the same exact service and an older more experienced barber, who uses scissors instead of clippers, will give you a better hair cut. This is one reason that the old thyme barber shops are loosing customers. The same thing that happened to your local hardware store because of Home Depot. Another reason why business is slow is because, men particularly, dont groom and dress as conservatively as they did in the past. People just dont get dressed-up anymore. Years ago, a man would stop by the barber shop every couple of weeks for a trim ( "Just take a little off the top" ). I miss the old days where people would actually put on a good shirt, wear a tie and blazer, and press their pants before walking out the door. Instead of shopping at the mega stores, we should make a conscious effort to patronize our local businesses before they all disappear.

I should start by saying that I have been using this barber shop for about 5 years and I generally get a decent cut. The problem is that the business is somewhat unreliable. I very recently went there on a Saturday at about 12:30pm. The doors were locked with no sign of explanation. The normal Saturday hours are listed as 8:00am - 4:00pm. I must also note that this is at least the third time I have gone to the shop during normal posted hours and found the shop to be closed. Its a shame really as the service is generally ok assuming you can actually get in the door! I need to find a shop that I can count on to be open when they say they will be.
