This is the ABSOLUTE WORST funeral home ever!!!! We buried my father from this funeral home and they are just horrible. We should have walked out when they told us the price but it only got worse from there. James S., the older gentleman, while polite & nice is extremely absent minded and leaves out vital information. I corrected him on my first name several times and continued to call me by “Sharon”. We made my fathers arrangements with James, during this time, we explained that our fathers wish was to have his obituary in the paper the day after his burial (which was a Thursday (obit should have been in on Friday). He assured us that wouldnt be a problem. Well, it wasnt in on Friday, Sunday, or Monday. My brother had been trying to get in touch with the funeral home since Friday and none of his calls were returned. I finally called on Tuesday, left a message.. again, no return call. I called back Tuesday night, James answered the phone I explained my concerns, and asked what was going on with the obit. He replied ” we were waiting for someone from the family to call us back.” Why would we when we thought it was all taken care of? He apologized for the misunderstanding and only then asked me for my fathers name (how did he know who he was talking to in order to tell me that he was waiting for a family member to call back and they had our phone number & called several times… why didnt they call us?) and then said it would be in the paper on Friday (April 22nd). The following day a representative from the funeral home (NOT James) called my mother and said they forgot to ask for a credit card number to pay to put it in the paper and it would cost $350.00. I called the paper, it only costs $225.00… quite a big mark up on a 2 minute phone conversation. We are going to put it in ourselves and save $125.00. I was also told that my dads death certificates were available, I could come pick them up but to call first to make sure someone was there. This is a joke, apparently no one is ever there. I have called 2xs now wanting them to return my call, letting me know when someone will be there so I can come by and get them. My fathers family has buried 99% of his relatives out of this funeral home & are all buried in the same cemetery. I KNOW that my dad would never have put up with this nonsense. Its obvious that this funeral home is run by a bunch of low lives that will have to meet their maker one day. Please, DO NOT USE this funeral home if you dont want to be ripped off. Over 15,000.00 later and a week after we buried my father, I am still dealing with them to get death certificates, let alone the error on their part of not giving us full information regarding the obituary. Did I mention that we were charged for TWO men to come get my father at the hospital, while there was only ONE!? We stayed with my dad until the funeral home personnel arrived, there was ONE man!!!They wouldnt absorb the cost of the obituary… bad, bad business!!

When we lose a loved one, we want the grieving process to go as smooth as possible. Recently, I just lost my Dad, and being an only child, was left the burden of making the final arrangements. His wish was to be cremated. I called a few places on pricing and Elmont was the cheapest of them all. Also, being from the town, I was glad I could give the business to a local. When making the arrangements I was in touch with Jim. I came in, talked over what I wanted and filled out the papers, as needed. I couldnt of been more Happy while dealing with such a depressing matter. He made everything easy, and was very comforting through the whole process. We talked and laughed about certain things, which helped ease the pain. He called me when every step was complete and when my Father was finally ready to be brought home. I was very happy with this experience. I wish no one has to go through losing a lived one, but if you do, think of calling and speaking to Jim. We all have different expectations, and mine were met and more.

A family friend used Elmont Funeral Home after his wife passed away, and he recommended them to us. I was nervous based on there only being one review online, and it being negative. In the end, we were pleasantly surprised with their service. My husband planned parts of the funeral over the phone with Jimmy and then the final details in-person with Jimmy and other family members. Jimmy was helpful, easy to reach, and returned phone calls promptly. He provided us with 2 copies of the death certificate in a very timely manner (just a couple days after our initial contact and the day before the actual funeral). He answered questions and gave my husband necessary information that served to guide him through the process. We needed a funeral that would rightly honor family and be something we could afford. This funeral home provided us with that.

Funeral director covered my brothers body in front of our whole family, three children and my MOTHER!!!! We never got to say our last good byes. It was a nightmare. Told us our fault. Church was totally messed up , told it was churches fault. Never got back to us why that happened???? Honor Guard was present, we were told funeral home had no idea what they were doing (funeral director included). Spoke to Ralph, Jimmy(owner) and Kim he is funeral director.....Pretty sure Laura??? was in charge of church arrangements. They said the preformed their job...unfortunately this cannot be fixed or redone. So head to Krauss Funeral home as fast as you can..RUN dont walk...You get what you paid for and that is bottom line this is their business and they only want the $$$$$$$!!!!
