I phoned the owner a few days after I had my daughters shower there ... told her the shower went well but that Id like to give her feedback. Although she had told me that ice cream would be included with the cost of the meals, it was never served, so I asked her, "Are you aware that ice cream wasnt served?" She said yes & went on to say that it wasnt because I had brought in a cake. I asked what that had to do with it. Her response was that she provided the plates & had the servers cut the cake. I then reminded her that she knew in advance that I would be bringing in a cake & told her that she should have informed me then that by my bringing in a cake, ice cream would not then be served. In addition, days before the shower I called Birchwood & asked the owner, specifically, whether I should bring in paper plates & a knife for the purpose of serving the cake. She said no, that they would provide them. Had I known that THEIR cutting/serving the cake would take the ice cream out of the picture, Id have gladly done it myself. I next questioned her why, even though she had clearly told me at the get-go that the guests could order from EITHER a "specials" menu OR the regular lunch menu, in fact she did not allow anybody to order from the regular one (unless they had dietary restrictions). She uttered sheer bologna, that if the shower were to have been held in the "other" room (i.e. in the bar) that they could have ordered from either menu. I replied that, 1) she had never informed me of that, 2) that she had told me that the guests could order from either menu, knowing that the plan was to use the room we wound up in, & 3) I could not understand what difference it should make as to whether or not to include the regular menu depending on what room we were in! I believe this was a bait-&-switch, owing to the fact that the "specials" menu mostly cost more than the foods offered on the regular lunch menu. She then became extremely rude, telling me that she gave my daughter a lovely party & how thankful I should be instead of complaining! Although I remained calm, reasonable, & polite throughout the conversation, she actually had the nerve to tell me, a few times in fact, that I was rude!!! Additionally, she had me know that (as a result of our conversation ) I would never be having an event there again. She doesnt have to worry. That wont happen!
