My fiance and I wanted to take dance lessons for our first dance at our wedding. I googled around and saw that Arthur Murray offered lessons for $250 to learn some basic steps, so I called the White Plains Arthur Murray and they told me all about their dance programs and then when I asked for the price, they told me the packages started at $900. I asked them to please tell me if they have anything under $300 as we could not afford $900 at this time, and they finally told me about the $250 package. I had a lot going on at the time and didnt follow up or book a lesson and they called me three times to try and get to me to book. As our wedding is coming soon I called about three weeks ago to go in for a free lesson. It is all about selling there, the minute you walk in its one huge sales pitch. I have to think that some of the positive reviews come from people who work at Arthur Murray because their reviews sound like the pitches they give you. We went ahead with four lessons for $250 and after two lessons I get an e-mail confirming our appt and letting us know that they will be unable to teach us a routine for our first dance because we are only taking four lessons. We already were told this and we were fine with it because we didnt want a routine, we wanted some steps. Then, our instructor tells us that we can register for dance lessons and she will give us cards to give to our guests. I dont even know how that would work considering the wedding is in 25 days. So I call to cancel tonight because more stuff came up and the girl on the phone asks me if I can re-schedule for this week. I cant. So she says how about you make a tentative appt. and cancel if you have to? All they do is push you there. They keep pushing us to go to the parties and the dance classes and try to book our lessons before a class so we will stay. A good dance instructor or studio would teach you some steps and give you SOMETHING to do for your first dance rather than tell you that you wont be able to do a routine and push you to take more lessons.

I was quite surprised to read the last review. I have been going to this studio for about 6 months and find the instructors are extremely professional, very conscious of class time, and the receptionist is always polite and hospitable. While the classes can be pricey this is an all encompassing experience joining private lessons, group class, social parties, and exhibition/showcase events in spirit of having fun while learning to ballroom dance. I personally have gained more confidence in my dancing abilities, learned new dances not just to perform while I am at the studio but to enjoy for years to come at weddings and other social events. I have met many new friends at the studio and I am confident they would parallel my review. Lastly, as a look from a different angle, this business has been around for many many years with a franchise footprint all over the world. It would be hard to believe that a long standing and successful business would carry a reputation such as the one described in the last review.

I wanted to dance for a long time since my wife loves to dance. I really thought I didnt have what it takes, no rhythm in my step! My wife does all the things I like to do so this was important to me to learn to dance. We signed up for a series of lessons after we did the Groupon intro program. We found the team very professional and pleasant to work with. I was surprised I was able to dance. The programs they offer are extensive and there are different dance experiences and many dance options. I would recommend this dance organization. Cha-Cha!!

Friendly, patient instructors make learning to dance fun, even for a skeptic like me. No judgement, just help. Enthusiasm of instructors and other students is infectious. I recommend highly.

The classes are overpriced and the employees are very unprofessional. The receptionist had a nasty attitude and the instructor cut the class short, so I felt ripped off.
