Forest Mill Work and Bill H came highly recommended to us by a custom builder friend, so I called and set a time to meet with Bill, who assigned Joel to our project. After changes in our house design, we set about to get a final kitchen design, working off a model kitchen piece on their showroom floor, asking to duplicate it with its trim and ornation and end panels, changes to the hood, and different wood/color selections. Given the impression we were all on the same page, a final meeting was asked for by Joel, that only the primary kitchen user was able to attend. At this meeting Joel essentailly said to her, here is your check back, here is your house plan back, our communication is not good and I cannot work with you. Imagine being so far down the building path, selecting Forest Mill Work and Joel over other recommended kitchen design houses because we were all agreeing that we could work together, Joel saying he had the vision of what we wanted, and now with the builder asking for the final kitchen layout as to not cause a delay, Joel understanding our time frame, simply and coldly giving our good faith deposit and house plans back and told he cannot work with us. We asked Bill to meet with us regarding what had happened so as a business professional, which both of us building this house are, Bill would know the customers side of the story too. Bill listened politely, offered that he (Forest Mill Work) could work with us still but was only offering to consider another designer at FMW, and, that Joel did not do anything wrong in Bills opinion. We would tell you be careful of working with Joel. You may think all is good and then find yourself well into the process being told your business was not worth the effort for Joel directly, indirectly Forest Mill Work. Joel claimed to have the vision but in the end did not. We have moved on to another recommended design center, who in a short period of time, grasped our vision, has moved us quickly and completely through the process, listening to and offering what we want, how we want it, and our kitchen is designed and the builder is no longer waiting for drawings. They validated our trust in them 10 fold. Forest Mill Work was really indifferent in the end, not really carryng enough to have our business, insensitive to our known timeline. We would not recommend Forest Mill Work for your kitchen design. Forest Mill Work, represented by Joel was not straightforward, in the end blaming the customer for poor communication, who was pointing at their showroom piece saying "that is what we want in appearance". Forest Mill Work must have enough business to have it their way or no thank you. We would suggest starting and ending with someone else and leave Joel and Forest Mill Work behind.

We moved into a very outdated home in North Asheville. The kitchen was a total nightmare. We completely renovated the upstairs (1900+ sq/ft) including custom cabinetry and trims in the kitchen. We also created a very nice washroom area off of the kitchen that we had not planned at first. Joel was able to recommend some very cost effective materials that really make the washroom beautiful. With Joels help we were also able to create an incredible kitchen where we spend most of our time hanging out and of course cooking. I think that Forest Millwork has a great selection of material and the pricing was good. Probably not the cheapest in town but you get a much higher quality product and service. We had some items that were added to the punch list after completion and Stephen, the craftsman, completed and finished everything beautifully and in a timely manner for us. Joel and Forest Millwork Inc. was by far our favorite Subcontractor that we got to work with! I would use them again without hesitation.

I have worked with Forest Millwork for over 20 years. I highly recommend them. I have been a builder and designer of custom homes in Asheville since 1979. I keep coming back to Forest Millwork for cabinets and custom millwork because they consistently keep my clients and me happy. A vertically integrated team handles all aspects from sales and design, through shop drawings, manufacturing, and installation. Professional and timely service combined with high quality craftsmanship are what they deliver, job after job. They have built and installed custom cabinets and millwork on both my current and my previous personal homes. This company is one of the best vendors I have ever done business with.

I want to thank Forest Millwork for delivering a beautiful kitchen on time and on budget. My rep, Amanda James was personable, professional, and efficient in delivering both a beautiful product and fabulous customer service. She was unbelievably patient and sensitive to my time and budget constraints. Because I was doing this long distance, it was extra work for her to coordinate installation and to document with photos every step of the the progress. I appreciate her work ethic and customer service and would highly recommend Forest Millwork to anyone in the future.

I have worked with the designers at Forest Mill Works on multiple projects over the last decade and have always been met with beautiful designs, excellent craftsmanship and timely, knowledgeable service. They are professional, friendly, and the showroom really gives you a chance to play with all the whistles and bells and figure out what you want. I have passed their card onto more than one friend and I will return.
