I have never been treated as poorly as I was today. I scheduled my first ever appointment with this salon for 4:30 today. I work downtown and left for the salon at 4:19. I realized quickly that traffic was slower than normal so I called the salon to make them aware I would be a few minutes late. The girl that answered how late and I said probably 7 or 8 minutes. She seemed annoyed and said we will see you soon. I rushed to the salon and walked in at 4:39 and I knew that due to my GPS that was still on when I walked in. The young man at the front desk greated me and I apologized for being a few minutes late and let him know there was a minor accident and traffic was slower than normal. He excused himself and said he would be right back. I took my suit jacket off and started to sit down when he came back and said they would not be able to help me today. At this point it was 4:41 and he said they had a 10 minute rule for appointments and that I could come back some other time. Upset I delicined and decided to leave. Upset with the scenario I walked to my car and decided I wanted to make the owner aware of my horrible experience. I called the salon while in my car and was immediately put on hold. I waited 7 minutes on hold until I realized they were never going on pick the phone back up. I walked back to the salon with my phone in hand and asked the two associates at the counter why I was still on hold. They apologized and then I demanded the name and phone number of the owner. Finally I got a generic email for the salon and the owners name. I would recommend not going to this salon due to the attitude of its employees. I usually experience much better service as a Clintonville resident at local Clintonville businesses.

I went here after a friend had her hair dyed bright purple/violet by Angela Dean, which looked super awesome. When requesting a appointment, I was unfortunately assigned to Adam. I showed Adam a picture of my hair a few months ago where the ends were dyed turquoise that faded to a bright/vibrant blue. I told him I wanted something similar, that I would normally do it myself but I had recently cut my hair shorter and didnt want to risk over bleaching it and damaging my ends. He looked at my hair and said we wouldnt even need to bleach it and that it was already light enough. I said I didnt mind bleaching it and then I wanted it to look vibrant. I think I must have said vibrant at least 8 times during my initial consultation. Low and behold, 3 hours after he finished it was a dull grey, and the turquoise (if that what you want to call it) didnt even show up. I said I was hoping it would be more vibrant, and he said that if I wanted that we should have bleached. Either Adam wasnt listening to me or he doesnt know how to properly assess hair for color. I called later and complained and they gave me a full refund. The salon itself is cool, and there are probably really talented people there for producing cool, edgier hair, but Adam is not one of them. If you are going to go here, do not book with Adam.

Nothing like paying $112 to have your hair done and walking out feeling like your hair looked better before, and then going home and fixing your own bangs. I thought the point of going to an edgy salon was getting edgy hair, but I wound up with the same lame layered cut Ive gotten at fantastic sams or great clips many times. My bangs lay really funny, and I think the color looks stupid. When my stylist was doing my bangs I pointed out that I didnt like them and described (in various ways) what it was I wanted. He just said "well they shouldnt be any shorter, just brush them back into your hair if you dont like them." When I said I thought the highlight colors looked bad against my natural color he said "thats what you picked" and then walked me up to the counter to pay. I couldnt believe the audacity. The receptionist then tried to get me to buy discounted products and gave me a frequent visitors card. I was clearly upset, turned down the products and card, slammed the door and left. I cant believe this is how they run a business. Will never return. Glad I kept another appointment with a different salon so I can have them fix this in a few days.

Because of their pricing, location and great reviews I decided to give Lucky 13 a try for a cut and highlights. I walked in, put my name on the list and waited for about 20 minutes (which I thought was pretty good for a walk-in kind of salon, which is how Lucky 13 markets themselves) before Kathleen, the owner, came over to help me. I really think it was just the luck of the draw on getting Kathleen as my stylist as to why I didnt have a good experience. She was really sweet, but just didnt listen well to what I wanted to accomplish. She seemed very inexperienced with her foiling technique and the cut....well, I wont really even go into that. I ended up saying, "Just cut off the back to make it even and I will fix the rest at home." I think perhaps shes better suited to just running the business side of things. One good thing: she knew how sad I was and did not charge me for the cut. I think Lucky 13 has a great atmosphere and pricing, but I would recommend making an appointment with one of their stylists that has more experience.

I have been going to Lucky 13 shortly after they opened. Kathleen, the studios owner used to cut my hair and did a great job. She has gotten so busy I now see Adam, who is a great stylist and makes sure you leave happy. Adam has a lot of tattoos and that may put some people off, but he is the nicest person. My daughter see Jonathan, and he treats her like royalty when she goes into get a cut. My other two sons also go there and prefer to have one of the many capable women stylists cut their hair. Its hard to say anything bad about this place. If I had to give anything negative it would be their appointment system. It used to be you could just walk in and get a cut. They got so busy to get a specific person you might have to wait awhile though. They changed this system to an appointment system a few years ago. I liked being able to walk in when they werent too busy to get a haircut, where now I have to wait a day or two to get a cut.

Poor customer service from management: My first appointment went fine, Kelly did my hair. She barely painted my hair and charged me full price. The second appointment, hair trim, I was running late. They do have a 10 min late policy. Their front desk called me at 11:09 and said they had to cancel the appt. I told them I just parked but they still turned me away. All I wanted was a trim, how can 10 min impact that? I called back and asked for the manager, I was told she would call me back after a client appt. She never called back so the next I called again, she was out of town but they gave me her email so I sent an email request to call me. The manager still never called me back. Their late policy is a double standard, I waited 10 min for Kelly for the consult and the first appt. Horrible customer service. Only go here if you want to spend a lot of money to get treated like dirt.
