Horrible...just horrible. My boyfriend and i recently moved back east and were looking for a quality barber shop. This place seemed like it fit the bill. Awesome reviews, nice shop, and Close by. So we go in there. We should have just gone with our guts and found else where but we had prior engagements and didnt have the time to look else where. From the beginning they were snobby and judgmental. If you dont wear busted ragged high tops, skinny jeans, man bun, and beard they treat you funny. Then they give horrible quality cuts for double the price. We dont mind the price cause i believe in "you get what you pay for". But in this case based off of that saying, they should have paid us. My boyfriends fade was nicked, uneven, patchy, and entirely to long on the top. He even had a Line of hair down the middle of his head of hair longer then the rest. And That was just the hair cut. His beard was just as bad. His side burns werent even, his bottom left jaw had a bunch of hair that didnt get trimmed and stuck far longer then the rest. He looked worse after then before. Never again. Maybe it was just the barber. I dont know. Maybe hes not familiar with white peoples hair??? For whatever the reason i would never recommend this place.

Vogons with scissors. The place is like a hipster version of the BMV. I walked in at about 2PM on a Friday and was advised to come back if I didnt feel like waiting over an hour. I was counseled to return before 6:30 PM. Armed with this advice, I left to take care of my business at, you guessed it, the BMV. After dealing with the bureaucratic waterheads at the Ohio Department of Public Safety, I returned at 5:30PM only to be turned away because four people were waiting and they couldnt possibly be expected to finish that volume of work before their 7PM quitting time. Must be a union shop. The barber (different guy, a bearded midget) began to hold forth on minutiae of their business model. Since I had come for a haircut and not a lecture, I declined to listen further and politely refused an invitation to try my luck again on Sunday. In the service business, if you have to explain it, youre doing it wrong. I felt silly for having darkened their door a second time, I will not go back for a third disappointment.

DONT SEE PAT! Did absolutely the opposite of what was requested (uh, trim the sides and back, dont touch the top, the most basic instructions ever, and he cut off the whole top and did a *terrible* fade!,) obviously didnt know how to cut around cow licks, and now its like military short for wedding photos and sticks up everywhere. Nope. Boo. Very uncool. Also, the dude didnt accept the tip at the end because he KNEW he screwed this up. Its going to take like three months to grow back the length they *werent* supposed to cut, which was in the process of trying to grow out even longer, so thanks for the 6month setback. And wedding photos are forever, mkay, and this was the haircut for the Best Man. Thanks guys! FU!

Go here for a real cut and/or shave from barbers who take their work very seriously. Ive had cuts from Kenji and Josh (owners/barbers) and both rank as top haircut experiences for me. I only need to tell them to make it look fresh and they bring it. Hot lather with a hot towel and straight razor shave, even when theyre just trimming around the ears and neck line... these guys do it right. Theyre professional, but still completely cool and the fact that they love what they do comes across completely. I live about 20 minutes drive from this shop and I wont go anywhere else. The shop has a chill atmosphere, always good music and I walk out feeling like a new man.

Such talented barbers who create a professional, yet relaxed environment. I was a walk-in and I didnt have to wait too long. Waiting isnt even bad because theres so much to look at in the shop. Its a very old-school vibe with fun, down-to-earth guys. I got my hair cut by Patrick who takes his time, is very professional, and a good conversationalist. These guys really care about the haircuts they give. It was my first time going in and I will definitely come back. I highly recommend Old Familiar Barber Shop to anyone who appreciates a good cut.

To start things off, I had never been to a barber in my life. My mom cut my hair when i was younger and then as I grew up I cut my own hair. I was extremely nervous to pick a barber to go to. I had heard from multiple people this was the place to go. Blake ended up cutting my hair and I honestly walked out with a smile and completely satisfied with the job he did and cant stop looking in the mirror. I will now be going there every time for a haircut. I would recommend this place to any person looking for a very solid cut.

Go here if you want a fresh cut and chill atmosphere. I recently decided to give these guys a try on the recommendation of my roommate, and after one visit I wouldnt go anywhere else in Cbus to get my hair cut. Great environment, and for the first time since I moved to Columbus I walked out of the barbershop with a fresh hair cut that I liked. In addition, being able to set an appointment was much better than having to go wait for a haircut because I was able to walk in and be in and out of the shop in about 15 minutes.

2015 JAN 9: AVOID AT ALL COSTS! A bunch of hippies chilling, not a barber shop. I called in to book an appointment, but they said I should just come in, as there was no wait. ABSOLUTE LIE. I have waited for 90 MINUTES for a haircut. I have been to best barber shops in New York, London and L.A. and I HAVE NEVER WAITED FOR AN HOUR AN A HALF. Place is quite dirty too, and there is virtually no heating, so good luck in Winter. Avoid this place at all costs.

Hmmm... I walked in without an appointment and was fit into a busy schedule (the chairs are always filled so they are doing something right which may explain having to get an appointment, Señor Douche). As I was in uniform, I can safely write that I am not a hipster but I do certainly enjoy the open banter and welcoming atmosphere. And the BMV is only as bad as you make it, so chill the f*** out!

Went there got cut by a man named pat. Asked for a blowout, he gave me a bad fade instead. He presented the cut to me as if he had finished but hadnt even given me a edge. Asked for an edge up and to shape up my moustache and goatee, received a hot shave along with that(didnt ask for one) and then tried to charge me 45 total. Took a long time. Wasnt a very experienced baber.

WTF? Since when do you need an appointment to walk into a barber shop? This is not really a barber shop. There is a long line of chairs against the wall but Im not sure what they are there for if you need an appointment. Look, I dont have enough hair left to worry about making an appointment to get a buzz cut. Maybe the name should be Old Familiar Beauty Salon?
