My daughter had been going and I had been paying for her attendance here for five years. Granted, when she started this place was called Abby Dance and under much better ownership. Mary Schonover sold this to Shannon Reichelt a couple of years ago and it has gone down hill ever since. Just noticing that over half of the above 5-star reviews are from OUAD staff may give you an idea of the disingenuousness you may encounter here, especially if dealing with the Owner, Shannon. Here is a recent email conversation I had with her. You will notice that she starts the conversation spelling my daughter’s name correctly, then changes her spelling at the end when she tells me she will be removing my email. Nice, right? Since she decided to end the conversation there in that manner, I decided to continue it here. On Wednesday, April 15, 2015 Hi Doug I was just checking on Christen. She just wasnt getting much out of the class and rarely wanted to go. Doug *** On Wednesday, April 15, 2015 Ok, thank you. *** On Thursday, April 16, 2015 Shannon, Although you did not ask, I think you should know Christens reason for not wanting to attend. Christen still loves to dance and is really eager to learn more. However, she said that her instructor, Lindsy didnt pay much attention to them and that half the time she was doing something else or stretching on her own. I obviously wasnt there but it sounds like the instructor may not have enjoyed the class much either. Not what I like to hear when I am paying for the classes and outfits (which is exactly like the one she wore during last years recital-btw). Lindsay has been an instructor with me for years and I feel she is a great instructor. The viewing windows are open once a month if anyone ever wishes to view. I was just going to let it be but since you emailed back. I am completely disappointed that I was not made aware that she was quitting earlier since it has now been several weeks and the students and the teachers have to re choreograph the routine for the recital. I wasnt trying to stir anything up and cause you to defend your instructor, Lindsy who has been with you for years. She doesnt spell her name with an "a" in it- btw. I just thought you might appreciate the feedback. Take it or leave it. I would have liked to observe, but I understood Christen not wanting her dad watching her class practice. When was the last time you observed that class? I also appreciate your concern for her future. Im sure she will find something that "works for her" as you say...perhaps shell take some classes that focus a bit more on actual dance instruction and less on preparation for a once a year, parent exploiting, revenue generating recital. Regards, Doug *** On Thursday, April 16, 2015 Doug The pictures of the recital costumes have been hanging in the lobby since Before the first of the year. If it was brought to my attention before then I would have changed it. The costume was picked before Kristen moved from the hip-hop class to the lyrical class. The venue is extremely expensive to rent therefore thats why we sell recital tickets. If you are to attend another studio you would find the same thing or they would not have a venue as we use. I am an extremely hard worker and business owner and I deserve to get paid for my work also just as you do at your job. I wish Kristen the best and I will be removing you from my email. Shannon

This is studio is so wonderful! I have grown up coming here for both cheer and dance, and the whole studio is truly a family. Everyone here is so welcoming and kind. All the teachers are very caring and willing to help the student, and make sure it is a good experience for the kids. The owner Shannon Reichlt is amazing and works so hard to make the studio such a great place!

For dance they are great. For cheer, not so much. Dont get on the tumble/cheer coachs (VW) bad side. She can be mean to a 10 year old and get her kicked out. She talks about parents she dislikes to everyone. Please, let me be clear, she is in her 40s not a teenager. Unprofessional, immature, and just mean.

I have grown up coming to this studio for cheer and dance and have absolutely loved it! The teachers and coaches are so welcoming and always have a positive attitude. This studio is truly like a family!
