Dance Revelation Studio is the BEST thing around!! I personally attended other dance studios and my daughter attended two others before finding DRS. There is no comparison. I like that the teachers are dancers and showcase their dancing abilities during the annual performance each year. It gives my daughter something to strive to. It shows her that dancing doesnt have to stop once you grow up. We also love the dads dance. The fathers participate to have a bonding experience with their children each year not to go on to be professionals. The dance is to be humorous...it is not intended to turn the fathers into full fledged dancers!!! As for the "Ghetto Cupid" comment, it was my ex-husband that played that character, trust me it was neither stereo-typical nor racist. He and I chose to make the costume that way FOR HUMOR not to make a political statement!! I purposefully altered the costume to put a hip hop theme to it, if you want to categorize that as “ghetto” perhaps it is you that has an issue with race not us! It is true that Johanna cannot make changes based on EVERY comment in the comment box (especially the absurd) but she does strive to reach an overall feeling of harmony…and Id like to challenge the person that posted the comment below to tell me where there is a studio that has never raised their rates?? This is still a business and rates changed with the new dance year not "on a dime". Being a single parent I have to sacrifice and save to send my daughter here as well, but I believe it is worth every penny to see how much the staff cares to make my daughter and her dance goals priority as they do with EACH and EVERY child AND FAMILY as a whole. We are like a family here, a relationship that is not rivaled by any other studio that I have found yet.

As a member of several years, I have decided to leave. The owner, Johannah, isnt interested in any feedback from the parents. She has said to several parents that if you dont share her vision, she isnt interested in your feedback. Prices are skyrocketing. The floors flooded this year, and despite the inconvenience, we were told some of the price increases were due to the lack of flood insurance. Dance classes for my daughter are a luxury that her father and I have to save to afford. When the prices change on a dime, it is impossible to save appropriately. My husband participated in the Daddy Dance. The teachers love the fact that this is an opportunity to embarrass the fathers. Johannahs expectations of the fathers is unreasonable and disrespectful. She even cast an African-America man as "Ghetto Cupid!" How insensitive and inappropriate! One father had to leave Daddy Dance practice to go to work and Johannah asked him what was more important, his job or the dance. Finally...I am fed up with the recital. $15 a ticket and it is just a show for the teachers to perform. The teachers are in more performances than the students - and they even have the nerve to show commercials during the show! Johannah must have all the attention on herself, ALL OF THE TIME! Her teachers are starting to demonstrate the same amount of ego as well. It is unfortunate and I am really upset that we are making the decision to leave.

I have known the director of dance revelation, Johannah, for years and have been involved with the studio since it opened. The students enjoy coming to class each week and love their teachers, who are always friendly and greeting each student with a smile. The recital gets better every year, and parents and students alike praise the dancers for putting on such entertaining and professional performances. Johannah betters herself each year by studying dance in NYC, and she enjoys sharing what she has learned at her home studio in mechanicsburg, pa. She is always adapting her teaching methods and listening to parents and dancers concerns, offering a suggestion box for comments. I love dance revelation and would recommend it to anyone!!

The people who said this studio isnt good are stupid. They Must be harboring some intense bitterness for someone reason. Perhaps the owner told them their child would get a lead part or something. But anyway, if you ask me, 5 stars from the majority of people should show that the studio is amazing. And for the minority of people who are bitter and decide to say that its a terrible studio and have no proof at all.. Ridiculous.

I have danced at many other studios in the area and none of them compare to the quality of dance that Dance Revelation teaches its students. Johannah and her staff really show their committment and appreciation for each student. The teachers are constantly reaching out and educating themselves so they can better teach your child. DRS is a family and we all work together to help the students be the best dancer they can be.
