On April 19th, 2014, my father passed away. He loved Motorcycles. A few years ago, my father and mother were at a biker rally and met a man who owned a motorcycle hearse. My Father requested that he be taken to his final resting place in that hearse. I found the card he had and called the man that previously owned it. He gave me the name of the funeral home that he had sold it to. I called McAlister Smith Funeral Home and they were so kind. I wanted to fulfill his last wish, and without McAlister Smith Funeral Home, this would have been almost impossible. The staff assisted in everyway possible. Mr. Smith escorted my father to his final resting place. I cannot thank McAlister Smith Funeral Home enough for all of their help and kindness. Words cannot describe what they did for my family. Thank you so much.

Extremely compassionate on an extraordinary level. Bernie Putnam assisted a family from his home town. Mr. Casey! Mr. Casey was the fabric of so many lives of those who attended Highschool in Churchville, NY. When Bernie was presented with reality of having to assist the Casey family with bringing Mr. Casey home! No one could have imagined the magnitude of how much this meant to the Casey family. The dignity, respect and admiration was so evident, from the family to Bernie and from Bernie himself, to the Casey Family. This was nothing short of amazing to watch. Our father and mother were visiting Charleston from New York and while on vacation, our father passed away suddenly. Bernie Putnam from McCalister-Smith graciously assisted in the arrangements for the return of our father to New York. McCalister-Smith Funeral Home exceeded our expectations by going above and beyond with the level of comfort and care extended during such a difficult time.

I was personally verbally attacked online by co-owner, Mr. Mark Smith, regarding my post about my family friends horrible personal experience at the hands of PALMETTO CREMATION co-owned by MCALISTER SMITH FUNERAL AND CREMATION. This is terribly telling of the deep and upsetting negative behaviors exhibited by this organization from the top-brass - down. I hope Mr. Mark Smith changes his negative and disgusting ways. They are unprofessional and downright rude and crude. So very sad and unfortunate.

Bernie Putnam was my neighbor from his hometown. When my Dad passed away, I recommended to my family that Bernie handle Dads arrangements. They didnt know him and were pretty hesitant. But I persevered. My family is pretty hard to impress but Bernie, with his compassion and profesionalism, put everyone at ease and gave us a beautiful service. What an incredible young man. In spite of being one of the worst days of my life, this place was the best. Mary was on point with us. She was outstanding and let us know what options we have for the cremation of our beloved (dog) Scooter. Really helped us get through such a tough time and process. Highly recommend!!!!!
