If youre trying to get a reasonable quote from someone that isnt bias or discriminates, keep moving! I guess this guy thought I was some ignorant teenager that drives his parents BMW. He WILL try to rip you off if you come off as vulnerable. I went to this shop to get a quote on getting some pipes welded plus a muffler added, I was running no pipes at the time and quickly got annoying! This not-so-smart man took a look under my car, said it would take ONE FULL DAY and it would be around $350-$375............. Apparently to weld some pipes onto my car (E30), its SOOOOOO much labor especially since its a BMW..... Let me continue.... I searched around for another muffler/welding shop as I knew this guy was crap and luckily found "The Muffler Shop" located 21 minutes out in Whitehaven. The friendly gentlemen took a look under my car as Power House did except with a way different result. I was quoted $125 including the muffler! I literally talked to the two gentlemen as they were welding my pipes, took NO LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES! Cleannnnn weld, clean nice sounding muffler, no complaints. tl;dr (too long, didnt read) Power House tried to pull a quick one as he recognized my age (I assume), quoted me $350-$375 and would take a full day to weld on my pipes. Went elsewhere to some honest mechanics, was charged $125 with everything being A+. Go elsewhere for a quote.

After reading good reviews for Power House I decided to give them a try after Walmart refused to change the oil in my car claiming I had an oil and possibly a transmission leak. I dropped my car off at 8am and was given no time frame or estimate on costs, just "Ill give you a call". I waited 9 hours (till after 5pm) and called Power House to hear they were just getting to my car and it should be done by 6. I picked up my car at 6 (10 hours after I dropped it off) and was told simply that the O-ring in my distributor cap was bad and it had been replaced for me. I was then handed a bill for $72.00! That type of O-ring is 7bucks and takes less than five minutes to replace. I feel cheated and taken advantage of. If you dont personally know the owner, I suggest you go somewhere where the mechanic will be honest with you and give you options before taking a good sum of money for a 5 minute fix.

I work downtown and feel very fortunate to have found Powerhouse Motors, on the corner of 4th and Union across from Autozone Park. The place looks like a dump for sure, but the service and pricing for repairs is excellent. I have an old 88 Dakota that has been repaired 5 or 6 times by these guys. The first few times, I had them give me an estimate and then priced the same repairs with a couple of other places, only to find that Powerhouses price was about half the price of the next lowest estimate. One time, I had to get some brake repairs made so that I could pass the City of Memphis vehicle inspection. For no additional charge, Powerhouse drove my truck to the inspection location, waited in line, and returned my truck to me after the repairs had been made. This is literally going the extra mile!

I had these guys repair my previous lemon/piece of junk about 10 times. They were honest and told me that it was a piece and sometimes they fixed it for free or only 10$ because they felt bad. Then they also did some repair work on my current car and only charged me $60. AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! I would never EVER go anywhere else. They are not the type of shop that tries to make a big repair so they can submit it to your insurance company. Now, their appearance isnt some fancy schmancy high tech garage and also they are always very busy. But they will take the time with you and they will give you TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I recommend this place to everyone. Oh and they are not a body shop, so if you have a body damage then this is the wrong place. They do engine repairs, alignments, etc. AAAAAA+++++

Agree with the positive reviews. Just went Power House to have my tail lights checked out because they wouldnt work after a recent rear end accident. Turned out to be only a minor problem, but importantly, they replaced the couple lights and fuses that needed to be changed, and only charged me $25. To get anything fixed for only $25 seems pretty damn reasonable. Also everything was done the same day and the guys there were all nice. Would definitely recommend for any sort of electrical work.

I used to recommend this place to everyone. Last May I spent almost 1500 in repairs for my work car and today Im spending 600 at another shop to have the exact same repairs actually done. Thanks for ripping me off next stop is a complaint at the BBB!!

This shop is by far the best I have been to. I have a Saab...which everything is expensive on and they have been extrememly fair and price alot lower than any other shop I called. They are the only place I would take my car peiod.

Jeff, the owner, is fantastic. The place doesnt look like much, Ill admit, but this shop does great work-often at fraction of the price of other shops.
