I have found Evins extremely professional, and extremely trustworthy, once I built up a relationship with them. I have worked for them in a number of assignments over the years. The company has been around for quite some time, and is owned by an older woman who works on the premises. It has always been in a strip of small offices. I think several of the reviews here were applied to the wrong company. (The office has never been in a trailer, the owner isnt a man, the women dont all wear dresses, the computers are modern, etc.) My experience with them finding me jobs frankly varies a great deal. This agency is very popular and therefore often doesnt have enough jobs to go around. It is usual at such agencies to be most likely to get a placement if you happen to talk to a recruiter when a job exists. Sometimes the jobs worked out, and sometimes they didnt, for varying reasons, but Evins values good employees. The only criticism I have is that they do tend to go through recruiters. Also, one wont just talk to a specific recruiter when one calls, but with whoever is available. Most of them are good, but over the 16 years I have dealt with Evins there have been a couple I just couldnt get anywhere with. Also, I was recently on the wrong end of what Im sure was the recruiters hard time trying to fill a weekend job staffing the womens section at the Salvation Army homeless shelter or something like it. I thought I really dont have the leadership and authoritative skills to do that job competently, and she got cross, and I got the impression that the fact that I turned the job down might cause me to not be considered for any other jobs that might have been open or come open. The receptionists are pleasant, professional, and dressed professionally but not flashily or artificially so. One does have to behave professionally with them as one of their jobs is to report it if you arent (one way a company judges how you will treat clients and customers). Again, I think some of the reviews here must have been applied to the wrong company.

I went there to apply for a job, but after I filled out the paperwork the young woman who interviewed me was very condescending. And afterward I never heard from them, not one email or call. I dont know what that was about. Agencies that I have found reasonable to work for are: Integrated Human Capital (IHC) on Braker Ln. Staffmark on Executive Center Dr. - I worked with Jessica TMD Temporaries in Round Rock - they currently have a 1-star rating on Google, with 5 reviews. I havent had a bad experience there, nor have I heard complaints from other TMD temps, however individual experiences might vary. At Randstad (formerly Spherion/Dell) it depends on who you get. I worked with Rocio and had a positive experience. I went to the Manpower at Tech Ridge (I-35/Parmer Ln.) one time to see about working at the Samsung chip plant, but the guy who was there was unfriendly for some reason. I tried Volt on Pecan Park Blvd in far NW Austin because someone told me they were hiring people to assemble parking meters at 3M for $12/hr., but the lady who was handling that assignment put me off and I canceled my application.

I had the misfortune of being employed by this company several years ago. I came to them looking for a temp to hire job and they hired me on internally. The company operates out of a stationary trailer building and is powered by ancient equipment, the best computer in the place was windows 98 with a barely functioning keyboard. They offer sub-par pay, less than half of what should be paid for some of their job titles. They demanded I wear makeup, cut my very long pretty hair (because it would wreck the 14 year old keyboard), and wear dresses at all times... after I already signed on. The VP sniffles all the times and is very hostile towards others, especially women, to which he is very sexist and condescending towards women and gets away with it because his mommy runs the company. The company has high turnover because they treat their employees like crap and offer pay that matches that treatment. I walked out and they put me on a blacklist which prevented me from getting another job for almost a year.

A waste of my time. I applied for an internal position only to have them change the position halfway through the hiring process; from an hourly clerical position to a sales, commission position. They put me through several personality / behavioral tests which were exhausting and quite frankly innappropriate: one of the many questions I vividly recall asked if I would feel comfortable joining a nudist colony. They also put me through timed tests assessing mathematical skills I felt were beyond the scope of the position. Of coures it didnt matter to them that there were many people talking in the background making it difficult to concentrate; not to mention the antiquated timer that gave off a loud ticking sound. After the tenth damn test; I finally just gave up and didnt complete it; were talking about three hours worth of these crazy, intrusive, irrelevant and ancient tests. Good luck to anyone interested in a position at this place.

Update: Jill ended up leaving due to the companys focus on locating clients and not filling existing jobs. This is verified by the fact that I only got one interview and never was placed. What surprises me is that the one interview I had was for an IT job but it was held at a Starbucks. Extremely unprofessional. This was the first time I walked into a temporary agency in Austin and had people actually fusing over me like I was of value. Once I got to meet with Jill, she was extremely courteous and enthusiastic about having me register and contacting employers on my behalf. In a single day I was able to fill out their application, interview, test, and take a drug test. Ive never seen a temp agency move this fast. If you come here, make sure to block out several hours for registration as they like to do everything in one go, unlike other places that want to bring you in multiple times.

By far the worse recruiting experience I ever encountered! For one, the recruiter did not even take the time to look over my resume to see how my skills applied to position in which I was interested in. Instead, I was told that my skills were not applicable to the position which I applied for, and that I did not understand what it all entailed. When I respectfully answered all of her questions and gave her work-related experiences, and pointed to specific items on my resume that showed I had all of the "skills" they required, I was told from the recruiter "Well, you should list those in a more visible place on on your resume." I was speechless by the time I left the office because I never encountered such an unprofessional and berating recruitment firm. I will advise anyone and everyone, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!

I have been dealing with Evins since November of 2009. I have gone through FOUR recruiters in that time. Every time I call and ask to speak to my recruiter I am told that person is "no longer with the company." This company is full of flakes with bad attitudes and have not been able to secure even ONE assignment for me in all this time. I am a professional with a good resume and all I get from this rinkydink outfit is stock one-liners about how they will "review my resume and get back to me." They have never ever called me one time. They are the worst and I would recommend everyone out there to avoid at all costs. They will not get you any work.
