I would never recommend this company. Upon signing up it was all love and kisses from the staff including Carlos who is nothing more than a high pressure used car salesman. We were promised two personal training sessions with him, never got them and when we asked him about it he acted like we were out of our minds. We were also informed we could bring our grandchild in our package, oh upon further review there is a additional charge. We could add people to a VIP list which we did. When we brought them oh you HAVE NOBODY ON THE LIST. We also signed up on a Saturday and gave them the VIP members information and phone numbers and were assured they would not be called or solicited. Everyone was called that Monday. High turnover of employees. My wifes initial call to LA fitness was to ask a few questions. Every hour upon the hour people called probably 5-10 times a day about coming up and joining yada yada, we will do this, we will do that. Once in and they get you to sign they could care less. Carlos has spoken to me once since I joined, and before he was all buddy buddy, all about money. Before you sign on the dotted line they act like you are the only member in the world once you do all the hidden tactics come into play and your lucky if you get the time of day. The other reviews say the same. I feel this company is dishonest. After about two months the bringing the grandchild issue made me want to cancel, I actually told a employee to cancel us, his reply if its that important I will take care of it personally, bring the child and im so and so. A few weeks later oh you dont have that on your plan. BS. Beware of Carlos and his bag of promises.

I think its hilarious that the employees are leaving reviews. I can understand why some people would be upset about that, but to me it doesnt really have an affect on the gym. Ive had nothing but positive experiences with this gym. Sure it can get REALLY crowded, but theres nothing they can do about that. I usually just plan my workouts around the busy hours and its fine. Theres a great variety and amount of free weights and machines. I can almost always walk straight in and get the equipment I need to do my workout and get out fast. The equipment and machines are clean and show minimal use(besides a few dumbbells, but hey theyre dumbbells). My complimentary training session that I received when I signed up went great. The majority of the pointers I were given were basic stuff that I already knew, but for someone just starting up it would be very helpful and the employee(Rich) had a great attitude and gave me some great exercises that I still use. The employees Ive come in contact with seem to genuinely care and are passionate about their job, or are just really good at faking it. The only thing that bothers me is it seems half the water fountains dont work or just barely work. All in all I highly recommend the place. There are always great deals and sales going on as well that can help you out with the steep start up price(but its not bad considering theres no contract). The gym membership is a good deal for the quality of the gym and also there isnt a contract so you can drop your subscription anytime you want. If you dont want to go based off the reviews here you can also sign up for a 3-day VIP test pass. Definitely check it out.

I initially had nothing but good things to say about the gym. For the most part, I still do. However, should you be entertaining joining their ProFitness personal training, please keep in mind that this is a service driven contract. The thought of this being oriented as "service" driven is laughable due to the inconsistencies of availability, the high rate of turnover associated with their trainers, the inexperience of most of their trainers (Christina is great!), and the HORRIBLE customer service element. My wife was suckered (putting it nicely) into a 1 year contract. The relationship started out wonderfully, until they decided to promote her trainer (again, Christina) to a master trainer position. Christina absolutely deserved her promotion, however, it left my wife and most of Christinas clients in a bind. My wife and I have been fighting with LA Fitness and ProFitness for 6-8 months to have her agreement absolved due to zero trainer availability at the times she can train, and one trainer in particular, over training her to the point of her destroying muscles in her back (a costly ER visit). In my mind, this is a direct reflection of the LA Fitness organization as a whole. Should you be compelled to sign up with LA Fitness, you could quite possibly enjoy the gym, but be warned, they will do their damnedest to try and get you to bleed away your hard earned money through their "separate" ProFitness company. My suggestion is that you stay away. RUN away. Im now off my box. :)

Mediocre at best. Ive been going to this gym for a while now because of the convenience of the location, but thats the only reason I havent left yet. Im very close to leaving and sucking it up to drive a bit further to another gym. The staff doesnt give two s**ts about you or their gym. It is clearly evident that the management takes no pride in their work; the gym is consistently unkempt. I have rarely seen a staff member pick up weights and re-rack them, and members dont do a very good job of re-racking either. Locker rooms arent filthy, but definitely arent very clean. The equipment is dated, although most is kept in good working condition. If a machine breaks however, it takes a long time for them to service it. I dont use the pool much, but when I have, its always seemed like the staff just tosses in loads and loads of chlorine and other chemicals instead of actually cleaning the pool. The gym is frequently filled with disrespectful high schoolers who think theyre big man on campus, which just adds to the annoyance factor for those of us who actually take fitness seriously. LA gets 2 stars from me; only because of the location and the price. If it werent convenient and cheap, itd be completely worthless. You certainly get what you pay for here.

I have been a member here for several years and referred multiple people. The facility itself is nice, well kept, and clean; however I cannot say the same about their staff. The GM Sean is rude, has no management skills, will not listen to reason, and picks and chooses who he allows to workout for free!! Someone please tell me why I had to pay a registration fee and monthly charges when I personally know of people he allows to come in and have specifically told him they would NOT purchase a membership!! Its unethical to allow individuals special treatment especially when you are in the customer service industry. I have read multiple reviews concerning this GM yet nothing has been done about it. One can only assume he is unhappy only being an La Fitness employee, but that does not give him the right to overuse his very limited amount of control he has. I will continue to frequent La Fitness ONLY bc 30/mo isnt bad considering all the amenities it has to offer but something needs to change w their staff.
