So I call ahead and ask if I can try the gym out before signing up, the guy on the phone assured me that was fine. When I arrive at the gym Im met by a manager who tells me that in order to get a free trial I have to go online and print out a coupon; that the guy I spoke to "doesnt know what hes talking about", but that hell "be nice" and wont "kick me out of his gym." About four feet away his employees are sitting at a table handing out stacks of promotional "3-day passes". (This is in the mid July) He lets me try out the gym; when Im done Im waiting up front for him to give me his sells pitch and so that I can ask about pricing and holiday hours. I notice the table with free 3-day passes and ask the front clerk what they are. He immediately begins filling one out and answering my all of my questions. At this point I was pretty much sold on signing up anyway, I just have a few questions. The gym is very small, but is has all the basics, the pricing is cheap, and the hourly staff seemed very helpful. Then... The manager finally comes to the front and grabs the passes from the employees hands. He says that the deal he has today is so good theres no reason for me to wait if Im serious about joining a gym. He then begins throwing around a bunch of numbers in an incoherent way. The guy is just rude to his guest, and even worse rude to his employees. By this time Ive had enough of his shenanigans, I head over to Golds Gym and get a sweet family package, 6 months later Im making all kinds of gains. Overall not a bad gym, just cant support those kind of management practices.

Great Neighborhood Gym with nice, well maintained equipment. Im a retired, disabled veteran currently on a fixed income. I want to stay in the best physical shape as possible on the cheap. This place allows me to do it for only $10 month! Full body Bowflex equipment with cardio would cost me $105 a month for 48 months! As a retiree, I can use the military bases for free. However, my Helotes to Lackland AFB Gym commute is hectic, time consuming, and adds up the gasoline costs very quickly. Fitness 19 does not have shower facilities, but it does have clothes changing facilities and lockers. However, Im so close to home that the lack of wet areas is not a deal breaker. Put a beach towel on your car seats if necessary and then shower at home. This gym is truly a case of getting more than what you pay for when compared to other gyms in the San Antonio area. As far as location is concerned, Ive had no problems getting in and out, even during the 1604 & Braun rush hour. I hate to sound stuck up, but I was concerned that the low price of admission, would only attract the "low rent" crowd. To my amazement, all of the members there are very friendly and courteous. Proves again that having income and having class are two separate things. All of the members take excellent care of the equipment as well. There are also quite a few members there driving Porsches, Hummers, BMWs, Mercedes, Audis, and other high end vehicles. This proves again that you dont get rich and stay rich by being stupid with your money. Five out of Five Stars!

I had a free pass for me and my wife,at Fitness 19 Loop 1604 ,but when i went there with my wife and kids , the manager ,(Garret Swaim) at the location on 1604 and Braun was very roud he cut my free pass and my wife,s ,and asked me to get out ,i think because we are muslim ,and he noticed the scarf covering my wife,s hair ,when i asked him why he did that while we just on the door coming in,he replaied i,m the manger and i do as i please. and you can not do nothing about it ,i sign the checks no body above me,I swear this is what happened i was in shock ,really I was thinking of joining because i just had 2 open heart surguries and the gym is close to my house ,but i will never join till they change this roud so full of himsef manager. that emparess me for no reason just to show off that he is the manager ,if this place keep hiring managers like this ,i dont know why they open up a business in the first place.I hope this will not happen to anyone else specially infront of his loved ones by a foolish manager like that.and please look out for him ,again his name is Garrett Swaim .by the way the rest of the staff are very freindly and polite ,but not him because he is the manager ofcourse.

So far it has been very annoying. I cancelled my membership since November 2nd and they charged me an extra month on 11/16 for not cancelling a month ahead. Ok. Then on December they charged me again, I called to ask them to refund the money and the girl told me she would call me back and did not. I have the cancellation slip so I called my bank, they refunded me my money and had the gym blocked from drafting any more money from my card. Some woman called me on JaNuary saying the draft could not go through, I said "no because I cancelled since November", its April 3rd and they are saying I owe money. I had to send a copy of my statement. This is soooo annoying. They are disorganized and I would not go back even if I had considered going back after having my baby. Always save any documents of cancellation that is for sure. Or else they will say you did not cancel and say they cannot find your paperwork.

not a bad gym overall. good equipment and the cardio machines and rowing machine is all up to par. the free weights and cables are fine. the place is a little small, and no showers..but i guess the only real gripe i have is to keep costs down, they use microfiber towels and spray bottles to wipe down the equipment. its disgusting. a bin on the floor with a bunch of used rags, with someone elses sweat on it that you then pickup to wipe your bench off with... but really, for the price- the space is reasonable and the hours are understandable. aaaaaaaaand its in between a liquor store and a bar. cant beat that. LOL

This gym isnt to brag about, the facility is very small and the owners walk around with their head up their a**. The staff is friendly, the owners are money hungry and rude, youll find them working out instead of working their business. Besides that, the hours are inconvenient and the location is pain to get to; located off 1604 and braun - good luck getting there. For example, Sunday is a nice day to workout..thats why youre stuck looking for a machine, but dont come after 6 because theyre closed! Pros: Price Cons: Environment, lack of equipment, bad location and no wet areas.

We love this gym. Simple, no frills, low cost. Great staff, ordinary, real people. This isnt a gym for models and the beautiful. Its a gym for out of shape people, people returning from injuries, teens, elderly, everyone. I like that. Yes, there are a few people who are in excellent shape, but it a normal mix of normal people working to improve themselves with mutual encouragement and a staff that has the same attitude.
