I have been going to Hairport since December 31, 2008. Ryan is my primary person, but I have also seen Gina and Elizabeth. Services I have received are haircut, color, and highlights (both funky and traditional); I have also had a pedicure in the spa. The good: 1) I have always walked out of there with a smile on my face; 2) they take the time to TALK to you about how you take care of, style and maintain your hair, products you use, and your vision of what you want; 3) they will help you work within your budget (I have $X and this is what I want.. .how can we accomplish that); 4) I have only been kept waiting ONCE in 4 visits, and the owner came to me (without my saying a word) and offered to comp me whatever products the stylist recommended for me. Customer service is important to me, and im very impressed with theirs. The not-so-good: 1) As someone elses review mentions, their hair color room is terribly boring and ugly and the chairs are frankly ugly, uncomfortable, and feel off-balance (I ask them to do my color at their station where I can be more comfortable, and they always accommodate this request. I LOVE their hair washing stations as they seem to fit me "just right" (Im 510"). 2) The receptionists can be a bit abrupt/snotty on the phone or seem disinterested when you arrive; interestingly enough, they are quite friendly as you are paying and leaving. The bottom line, in an effort to save money, I went to a Hair Cuttery (my formerly "usual" place to go), had a language barrier (which is also "usual") and ended up with a cut that was nothing like I had asked for. Took the same picture in to Ryan at Hairport, and shed fixed my "do" adjusted it to better fit my hair type and face shape, and I walked out happy. My happiness is worth an extra 20 or so dollars every couple of months. Isnt yours?

I have been going here for 7+ years. I keep going back because they are convenient and I have grown to like my stylist, and Im lazy...finding a good salon can take alot of effort. If it wasnt for her, Id choose another salon. The interior is run down, the "color" room is depressing at best. It has half-finished murals on the wall, TVs that are not on/working, no mirrors. You basically sit there staring at a white wall. The chairs are as comfortable as sitting on wooden benches (actually wooden benches are more comfortable). And the sinks for washing your hair are REALLY REALLY uncomfortable. I get a bruise on the back of my neck every time. This salon charges premium prices, but the comfort and ambience is more on the level of Hair Cuttery at best. I do wish the Owner would consider upgrading the salon and lowering prices. Oh, and beware of the stylists being "promoted" You will be going to the same girl for years, then shell have some card on her desk that says shes been promoted to a higher stylist position...well that only means that YOUR costs are higher. So the same services you have been recieving will just cost you more. IE, the owner passes on their raises to the customer. Its a dirty little trick that I cannot stand.
One good thing, there is a ton of eye-candy for the men. Some of the stylists look like models. ;)

I had an absolutely superior experience with my first "revisit" today in over 10 years at Sterling, VAs Hairport Salon & Day Spa! I am very surprised at the less-than-4-Star Reviews but I guess everything is relative. From beginning to the end of my appointment, the entire staff could not have been more friendly & approachable - all of them seemed happy to be there and made each customer feel welcomed from what I observed. I was most impressed with the vast knowledge, professionalism, and sensitive disposition of my hairdresser, Adrea. Usually a consult (with haircut) is 15 mins. Adrea spent well over 45 mins. just with the consult in addressing each and every question and/or concern I had. My drive time to Hairport 1 hour + 20 mins and the experience was worth every mile of it! Hairport is a bit more costly than what Im used to spending, but that was also worth it. (Get what you pay for!) Furthermore, a few reviews I read were of the diappointment of Hairports atmosphere being equal to a Hair Cuttery. I could not disagree more! It was exactly the atmosphere one would expect to find at a Salon and Day Spa. I am a new and satisfied client and look forward to trying the other services in the future!

Ive had facials and massages here - they have always been excellent. However, the receptionists are arrogant, cold, and unfriendly... they are the worst part of the experience. The rooms are also a bit cold, and therefore uncomfortable because of the temperature. Their products and services are a bit overpriced but not too much. The worst part is the receptionists... on the phone theyre fine but in person they SUCK.

I emailed this salon through their website twice to schedule bridal hair and makeup for 7 women - only to have to call and talk to an extremely rude receptionist. I am a litigation attorney, so my time at work is limited and thus email is the best way to schedule - still havent heard from their "manager." Im sorry, but with the way the economy is now, they lost out on at least $1000 worth of business - their loss.

I have been going to Hair Port to see Shelley Collins for 8+ years. I have never had a bad experience. She has always taken care of me and I couldnt be more happy when I walk out of the salon. Not to mention, all of the stylists are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. I recently had my hair professionally colored by Shelley and couldnt have been more impressed. She did a phenomenal job!

I have been getting my hair cut by the owner Shelia for about 3 years. She does a fantastic job on my hair. I have frizzy dry curly hair....I have never been able to find someone that just knows what to do. I usually just let her do what she wants. It is a small christian owned business. So for Chance...sounds like you are used to an upscale over priced salon like, Hair Benders.

I have been going to Hairport for 12+ years and have used a variety of their services each of which I have recommended to friends looking for the same treatments. Currently Ryan is my stylist and I couldnt be happier. From a simple haircut to mixing a custom color for a change she can handle it all. If your looking for a salon in Ashburn try this one and see if it fits you too.

This is a DISGUSTING place with at least one of the TRASHIEST hairdressers Ive ever heard of. While my friend was waiting to get her hair trimmed, her hairdresser sat there and gossiped, lied, and talked trash about about my friend to the person whose hair she was cutting. Needless to say, PATHETIC.

Ive been going to Adria for everything to do with my hair for years now. I live in Manhattan and I take the train down to VA just to go to Adria, so you can take my work for it, its worth the wait to book with her.
