We contracted with Atlantic Craftsman, LLC for a replacement window project. Prior to choosing this vendor, we called 6 companies, got 4 returned calls, and 3 who showed up to give estimates. Our project was replacing 27 windows on a two-story home in a suburban neighborhood. We chose Atlantic not because they had the lowest price, (although they were very competitive) but because they required no deposit to order the windows and they offered 6-months-same-as-cash financing. Upon signing the contract, Bill, the “office guy” assured us the project would be completed in “2 days, 3 at max”. Our problems began early, when there were scheduling conflicts related to our start date. It was obvious there were huge communication issues within Atlantic. The “office guy”, Bill, doesn’t speak to the foreman, Larry. Larry makes promises on site, then doesn’t communicate those to the office. After 2 scheduling snafu’s, our project began on 8 May, so should have been completed by 11 May, at the latest. We communicated early that we absolutely needed the work to be completed before 12 May. 2 workers came on 8 May and began work. It was 11 May before anyone showed up again. On 9 May, they drove by our house, stopped, and left again within minutes (we learned later they were “called away” for another job) without explanation. We contacted Bill, the “office guy” and Joe, the OWNER early in the project and expressed concern. Between 13 and 21 May, various crew members showed up sporadically, never knowing where the project was in terms of work or completion. We contacted Joe, the OWNER, again. He was too busy with a “honey doo” (sic) list to come over (as he had promised he would) to evaluate the work. We were concerned about quality of the work; the caulk looked as though it had been applied by an 8 year old. There were bent screens. They cut through the inside trim of a window with a Sawsall. We were concerned about the clean up process; they left nails, aluminum, cigarette butts, lunch/drink trash all around the yard. They leaned the new windows up against the side of the house and caused damage to our siding. They leaned old windows against our second garage door for 6 days, thus prohibiting us access to our garage on that side. Despite communicating all of this to Joe, the OWNER, he was just too busy with his “honey doo” (sic) list to come visit the work site. Finally, after 3 text messages and 11 phone messages, Joe found time to come visit the work site on June 2. Twenty three (23) days AFTER the project should have been completed. While visiting the work site, Joe, the OWNER, told us of his woes. His best foreman had fallen off a ladder and shattered his hip. The entire crew left him. The crew he sent to do our project were “not window guys, they are metal guys”. He promised to “make it right” for us and said he “wants it to be like it was his house”. He never did; he is a liar. He did some work for us that he offered for free, then, he turned around and charged us for it. In the end, he gave us about a 10% discount for a project that ran over on time by thirty seven (37) days, had a filthy worksite, shoddy workmanship, and that we will incur hundreds of dollars to have repaired. If you are considering Atlantic Craftsman, LLC, I would strongly recommend you reconsider. I’ve never in my life had such a horrible experience with a contractor.

I had multiple estimates on our new roof, which was installed on May 9, 2014. Another company, beginning with “Rey” and ending with “nolds Exteriors” wasted 3+ hours of my day off with my family (reviewing their ridiculous 5 inch binder of commendation letters and samples of business licenses) with their high pressure spiel about how awesome and qualified their company is and how no one else measures up, as they badmouthed several of their competitors. Oh wait, one of the salesman did take some bogus measurements from the yard (the results of which he would not share with me). This was prior to providing a quote for a roof that must have been made of Spanish tile coated with pure gold. In contrast, the final estimate was from Atlantic Craftsman Co., specifically by the owner Joe Glazebrook. He personally spoke with me as he took measurements and discussed the state of my roof and what specifically would be included (all top-rate materials and roofing methods-the exact same materials the other guys quoted, except Joe included water-proof Tiger Paw materials beneath the shingles). He even let me keep several samples to review colors at my convenience with my wife. He never even turned off his van. Within 20 minutes, during which time I never felt rushed, he provided me with a very professionally prepared estimate and portfolio with detailed description of the materials and methods, as well as information about his company (which, again I was allowed to review at my convenience). Wait, you mean Atlantic craftsman also has a “A” rating with the BBB, is a class A contractor, is a “Master Elite” certified roofing company with GAF, has a Good Housekeeping seal of approval, insures all of their workers to the hilt to protect consumers, provides a consistently great product with excellent customer service (and warranty) before and after the job is done, and didn’t put my savings in the red like the other company attempted? That’s correct! Donny, Atlantic Craftsman’s logistics guy, and Joe are always accessible via phone, and you get the peace of mind knowing that the owner provides the very reasonable (the most reasonable, in my case) estimates and they offer financing, if needed. Our roof was done in less than a day; the workers were polite and careful to protect the plants in our yard and cleaned up well afterwards. Despite this, another member of their company arrived 2 days later to ensure all nails and debris were removed (maybe 4 nails total). These guys are top-notch. Our roof looks great and many of our neighbors have been informed of our experience. Thanks guys! Trey Black, PT, DPT, OCS

Pre-sales: Joe was great. He answered all of my questions and helped me make the best choice between contractors. Another company gave me a cheaper price for the Golden Pledge but Joe was willing to meet the price as I felt more comfortable working with him. Joe was not the typical "pushy" sales person -- he was just plain helpful. Installation: Joe has a large team (~10) and they were able to remove all the shingles quickly. Unfortunately, I had a lot of rotted plywood they had to replace. I recently paid $1500 to wrap my Mansard windows and they had to remove the wrap. They cut the wrap off with an X-ACTO blade when it could have been possible to remove the wrap by popping out a couple of nails. I understand it would have cost them more time to try to remove the wrap but it would have saved me from having to replace it all! I feel the installers could have also been more careful with their ladders. Joe told me they have blocks which go in the gutters to prevent the ladders from leaning directly on the gutters, but my three month old gutters got scratched by their ladders. They could have put cardboard or something similar between their ladders and my gutters to protect them. Post-installation: Joe and I came to a reasonable agreement on price to have his crew re-wrap my Mansard windows. They cleaned up all the trash, shingles, nails, etc. on the ground. However, I would have liked to see them clean up some of the scuffs and black tar marks they left on my gutters and the aluminum siding. Overall: Joe was informative, helpful and he gave me a great GAF roof with the Golden Pledge warranty for a great price.
