Im new to the area, and figured out that its kind of hard to find store chains around here. Its like an east coast San Francisco. Its not a bad thing, but its different. So what the hell, why not just go local? The only problem is that the community here is much smaller than other places. So with so little reviews to go off of, all I have is a bunch of polarized people. So when reading the reviews of this, there were either just a bunch of really pissed off people and some people who thought it was ok. I tried it either way. Hair will grow back. Well, let me tell you that this place is pretty cool. I got my haircut by Adam, himself, whos been doing it for over 55 years in the same place. Apparently, its much different from those salon people cutting hair. Hes trained differently, and uses a straight razor to clean-up the edges. And that was a new experience, a little scary, only because my last memories of a barber cutting with a straight razor was as a kid...on TV...in a horror movie...where the customers head was cut off...and than vampires drank his blood. But that didnt happen. And I dont expect it to happen. At least I hope not, as I plan to continue going here.

Okay looks like Im the only female reviewing but it is from my perspective with my son. Mr Adams gave my son his second haircut when we moved here, he was about 2 years old and terrified! Mr Adams said "Mom put him down on the chair and go sit down, Ive got this" My son thought about crying, seriously thought about it for about 2 minutes and Mr Adams whispered in his ear then he was good to go! My son is now 10 and his father takes him while they both get cuts. We love Mr Adams, he is like family. Always opens the soda machine and gives the kids a drink when the cut is over. Moms if youre looking for a stress free haircut for your little one then I highly recommend Mr Adams. Old school barber, just the way it should be!

Older dude was great! Mr. Adams was super cordial and def gave me what i asked for, even though he faded me a bit high. BUT the younger dude in here was atrocious. the fella working with mr. adam is a total biggot whos pretty trash at cutting hair, the whole time i was there he was cursing and giving me and my friend the evil eye, and the ENTIRE TIME he was talking about how liberal student protestors should be RUN OVER AND KILLED. this guy is absolutely out of whack, mr. adams is alright. If you go here MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR HAIR CUT BY THE OLDER GUY. Do not support this younger fool, he also gives terrible haircuts along with that terrible attitude

Pretty nice place, I have gone here for the last few years and always been pretty happy with my hair cut. Mr. Adams (the man on the back chair) does an outstanding job and is pretty quick; Bill (the man on the front chair) is ok but he never seems to get it as good as Mr. Adams. I get my hair cut pretty short so i havent had the issues a couple others had with them free handing stuff (other than when Bill tried to touch up a little spot and took a bit to much but it wasnt bad). If you need a more traditional cut or a little trim to clean up these guys are great, if you need something a bit more unusual you probably want to look else where.

Adams is how I envision what a trip to the Barber was like back in the 50s-60s. $12 Haircuts, no appointments, no women, no awkward conversation, only men cutting hair. The haircut is solid, shave your neck and sideburns with warm cream and a straight blade, and vacuum your head. There were two other gentleman in Adams when I showed up, one college age, and one in his 40s and both walked out with nice looking modern haircuts. If youre looking for an quality haircut, with old school flair, at a great price, than I recommend Adams. Open 8-5? M,W,Th,F and 8-3on Saturdays. Closed Sun and Tues.

This place was ok IMO. Small shop like 4 or 5 chairs. The guys working there were older gentlemen all of which were friendly. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because they dont have a good range of clipper guards! Honestly the longest they have is probably a 3 which I think is unexceptable for a barber shop. Anything longer than that expect to get a free-handed cut which will probably come out uneven. So unless youre getting a 3 guard length or shorter you may want to look elsewhere. Other than that, decent shop.

Ibwent in and the older man was very friendly and welcoming .. The younger guy was cussing about the phone and in a bad mood .. I got my hair cut and the sides were obviously and clearly uneven .. There were spots where my hair wasntguybrefused to help and closed his eyes inbthe chqir and was shaking his head .. I was told no charge because ofbthe horrible haircut .. But paid anyway .. Im not out looking for free handout haircuts .. Worst barber shop ever that i have been to .. Definately will not be back

Ill just tell you about my first experience: I walk in the barber asks, "whatll it be, son?" I reply, "kinda short on the sides with a trim on top." (standard crew cut). Howard laughs and says, "I know what you need buddy!" This place is a very friendly, male-only barbershop, run by a veteran barber of 56 years and his business partner, Dave - who is equally skilled in classic mens hairstyles. Camaraderie, small-talk, and a quick clean cut is what youll find here. Great price too.

Ive been going to Howards shop since college at VCU in the late 80s, and Ive worn one of his signature flat tops ever since. If youre looking for a great haircut at a great price, this is the place to go. Adams Barber Shop is a page cut from the annals of history, and youll enjoy the old school experience as much as the compliments youll get from one of his cuts. See you there every three weeks or so! - Thom [>:-)

These guys are great. I like an old fashioned clean cut look and they have that down quite well. This is an old fashioned manly hair cutting establishment, dont go here thinking youll get pampered, if thats youre thing the salons up the street will be more helpful.

In this place you get the Henry Ford cut. You can have it anyway you want- short, short, or short. Might want to wear ear plugs too- the shop vac in the ear was not pleasant. The haircut price is inexpensive- but the haircut is cheap. 2 thumbs down...

I was an out-of-towner visiting needed a quality hair cut fast and this place hit the spot. An old-school place did my military style quickly and quite well. At $12 it was a good deal. A pleasant experience and if I were a local Id be come a regular.

For a reasonably-priced, old-fashioned haircut you cant beat this place. BEST PART: They still use hot shaving cream and a straight-edged razor to trim around your ears and neck. Freakin Awesome!!

Classic barber shop feel from the chair to the straight razor and warm shaving cream cleanup in the back. Dave does a great job. Good price as well
