Coming from a top of the line salon, I was a little disappointed here. The stylists are very nice and super friendly and the owner is a great philanthropist! The quality of work, however, is not outstanding. I have received two cuts from the salon, a highlight touch-up and an all-over color. The cuts were fair. The stylists do not own or use thinning sheers, but instead use regular scissors haphazardly to thin thick layers/sides. My second cut landed me with a "dog-ear" on the heavier side of my side-part. I ended up going to my old salon to have things fixed -- a few clips of the thinning sheers and my hair was perfection. The stylists are fairly green. The stylist who gave me the all-over color, while a very kind soul with a talent for conversation, was incredibly unsure of which color to use. I had brought a picture of myself with the hair color I desired and described my desires (multi-tonal, warm brown, hint of red, etc.). Instead I ended up with obvious highlight grow-out (they applied toner without touching up my 8-wk old roots), a cool colored brown, and not a single hint of red. Needless to say, I dropped by my old salon and had things fixed the next day. They accomplished exactly what I wanted with a single look at my photo and very little instruction. Salon 904 is a friendly place, but if you are a tad obsessed with your hair (its my pride and joy) you may not be satisfied. The four staff members that have serviced me were novices and I saw that in their work. If you low-maintenance hair or are not particular about your look, by all means. They are not bad... not by any means. But, they are not amazing.

The haircuts are almost always subpar and the price does not help. The stylists just go through the motions without taking into account the texture of your hair or the shape of your head and face. On the last occasion, the cut was finished and I had some issues with the length. While I was describing to the stylist what I was thinking, the hostess brought my jacket over to the chair and hurried me out. I recommend any other salon on Mercer Island, even Great Clips at this point. At least you will be treated like a respected customer for half the price. The haircuts will be about the same quality too. Dont waste your time and money at Studio 904.

Voted Best Salon in Mercer Island, and I can see why! Ive been a loyal customer for years as I always get great service and walk away pleased with the results! Kay, the owner, is an awesome philanthropist, who is dedicated to helping animals, the environment, and the community. What an amazing role model for a staff who really appear to enjoy their jobs while continually expanding their skills! What more could you ask for when choosing a salon? No tipping policy...they have that too!

I dont often write reviews but I was so pleased with my haircut that I felt compelled. I moved to the area in May of last year and have been searching for a great stylist with varying results. I tried Studio 904 on Mercer Island for the first time and Joy was my stylist. I thought she did a great job with my fine, straight hair and gave me a style that had volume and texture. She really listened to my input and gave me exactly what I was hoping for. I strongly recommend her.

Love visiting Studio 904 Mercer Island! Ive been using the salon since I was a teenager and keep going because theres no other salon like them. Their stylists listen to you very well and give you the best haircut/color that you wanted. The staffs are very friendly and the salon atmospher is very comfortable and I love the parking is always free :) I saw the news that they got 1st place as the best hair salon in Mercer Island - I totally agree!

Ive visited Studio 904 twice now and each time I was pleased with the outcome. The hairdressers are skilled and professional people. And Studio 904 has a good rebate program, too
