I love coming in to have my hair cut/colored and to have my brows waxed. In most cases I can schedule all three appointments with all three specialists in an afternoon. It can get busy, but I have never had a problem. The spa area is very relaxing. They go the extra mile there. I can use the term specialist because GJ makes their employees choose an area of expertise. My colorist Effie (who is a little more expensive because of her vast experience) only does color. My hair color has been amazing every time. My hair looks shinier, feels softer and looks great for weeks after an appointment. My stylist Jen only does hair: cuts, blowouts, updos etc. She takes the time to hear what I am saying, offers advice and she taught me how to flat iron my hair like a pro. I am very grateful because it has saved me so much time and frustration! This place is expensive. This is not Fantastic Sams or Supercuts! This is not the Barbie Doll Factory either (unless you want it to be for yourself). These are real people doing what they love in a corporate environment that seems to encourage a fun and relaxing environment. I appreciate that they specialize and they receive extra training in their area. I appreciate the attention to detail and the friendliness of the staff. I appreciate that they offer me water or tea or coffee even though I usually bring my own soda. I appreciate that they do special surprise treats sometimes: One time I was offered a hand massage while I was under the dryer (free) and another time I got to try a hair gloss for free because that was the special that day. I appreciate that the location is easy to find and parking is free and plentiful. You can shop before or after or meet people for lunch or dinner there.

My friend and I were beyond excited to get our hair done for the first time at Gene Juarez, the girls we had were very nice nothing wrong with that! We explained what we wanted but came out with the total opposite of that. My friend wanted a semi balyage with a few inches taken off, the color didnt look any different than her natural hair and took a ridiculous amount of length off. I asked for my hair to be a full balyage, but my stylist bleached my entire hair (with no highlighting or nothing like a balyage) my whole head of hair is blonde with crazy patches of yellow/orange spots. I could tell everyone at the salon was starring at the way I looked because it looked atrocious. I didnt like the fact that the stylist put on a fake smile saying it looked good, when my friend, myself and my family think otherwise. Were never going here again, spending over $200 plus a $40 tip will be spent somewhere else. Thanks a lot.

The environment at the Redmond town center GJ is beautiful and very calming. I love being there, and it is in a very convenient location if you want to get some shopping done before hand, or even after. (You can show off your brilliant new style) Not to mention, the people their are very welcoming and kind. I dont know what the other reviews could possibly be talking about, people being "rude." Ive seen "Marlisa" for my cuts the past couple years and shes awesome! Ive never been the one to find someone comfortable with my hair, but she has really changed that. At least to the point of trusting her with my hair. I havent let anyone else cut it or style it since she cut my hair for the first time. Shes also really nice and she doesnt make the situation awkward. Shes a great stylist and I would recommend seeing her anytime you need a haircut. I promise, you will not be displeased!

My haircut was and always has been great, but this time I also got an eyebrow wax, and it was horrible. I was taken about 10 mins late. Her room smelled like BBQ sauce. She BURNED me with the wax. She spent a total of about 90 seconds shaping my brows, and it hurt! I have had MANY eyebrow waxes before, and Im no wimp, but it was like she was TRYING to hurt me! Then I noticed my brows were not symmetrical, and she told me it was because MY eyebrows were not symmetrical. Now I have NEVER had a problem before like this - and certainly have never been told it was MY fault! To top it all off, she left all this oily goo all over my face and didnt wipe it off or put cooling gel on, as everyone has always done before. Have had great experiences in the spa before, maybe it was just a fluke or a bad day... I hope so, because going there is so convenient!

Busy, hectic, noisy environment during my afternoon appointment. A gift card made me a first time customer. I thought that $47 was a bit much for a simple trim of my thick curly mid length hair, but then again, it was on someone elses dollar. The stylist was Hannah, she took the time to listen to what I wanted. She had me stand while she cut it, she made sure that the front sides were even with one another. This is the first cut I have had in a few years that has turned out perfect. She must have been allotted enough time to cut and style my hair with care and attention to detail, she took her time and it turned out great...its been two days, so I know it was a great cut. Thanks Hannah! Love it. I will probably have her cut my hair again even though I found the price to be high, and the atmosphere less than perfect.

No one told me my stylist was sick until I had been waiting at the salon for 45 minutes. They checked me in to the fancy computer system 15 minutes before my appointment. Then I sat in the waiting area while the 10 or so employees at the front desk (the employees paid for by the salons inflated fees) stood around and talking and joking with eachother. No on inquired why I had been sitting there so long. When I finally asked why my stylist was running so late, they did some investigating and realized she was out sick (it said this in the computer system but no one noticed when they checked me in). Their way of making this right was to offer me a reschedule. No manager talked to me, no offer of a discount, no nothing. I will never go to this salon again, and I dont recommend it to anyone else.

Ive been a half dozen times, and Ive been able to get the same stylist - twice. Stylist turnover is high, and its a cattle-like experience. The team doing the bookings doesnt seem to know the various stylists strengths and weaknesses, seems to assign stylists at random - regardless of what your needs are and what you are asking for. Ive received 2 good hair cuts out of 6. My daughter is batting 1 out of 3. For what you get at this GJ, its an expensive service, and a tip is demanded. I miss my old independent stylist who moved to South Beach. He was twice the price, but consistently the best Ive ever had.

I have curly/wavy hair, the call center booked me an apt with someone who obviously had no experience cutting curly hair properly. The stylist cut off over 2 inches even after I explained I just wanted a trim as I was growing it out. I have never been in tears over a cut before - they did schedule me with someone who knows curly hair better for my correction... but I ended up loosing another 2 inches of hair. Will continue my search for the perfect hair dresser here on the eastside.
