After being charged like 500-600 dollars to sign up to begin with two years ago as my first gym experience I thought that was normal, which after having left these guys and gone to a new gym and being charged WAY less and having way more options, I realize that was false and I got suckered in by a salesman while being naive. But thats not even why these guys suck. And that alone is reason for them to suck as the membership was pretty basic with no real perks. Fast forward a year~ I was stagnate in my results and wanted more personal training so I signed up for a training session a week. My membership dues went up to 75 a month, with a 250 dollar down payment to upgrade my membership. You heard that right. They charged me to upgrade. I ate it up. But I made progress with my trainer, she was great. She helped me get it into gear a little bit, showed me how to PT a few hurting things etc then a few months into training with her they fire her for some reason. For the next 6 months I went through like 4 different trainers and none of them were sure exactly why they were training me or what kind of membership I had, or anything really. They half assed their end, barely contacted me at any times all the while I was paying for the 75 dollar a month membership and that included a weekly training and I maybe met with a trainer 5 times in the next year of paying for that. Why continue paying so much? They kept telling me theyd make it right. The last straw was when they called me, finally, but not to schedule my WEEKLY appointment, but to ask if I wanted to get my free monthly training session as part of my basic membership, while paying for their signature membership they actually called me and said that. They didnt even know I didnt have a proper trainer since the one I mentioned got fired left. That motivated me to get aggressive on my end and stop taking their crap and asserted that I wanted to bump my membership down to continue going to their Stone way location while I found a new gym as I was moving and trying to save money. I did this, at a cost of 60 extra dollars deposit!!!!! they wouldnt let the downgrade deposit go, even though they failed on their end. The general manager gave me assurance that I would be able to "just go" to the Stone way location and sign in with the key tag just like I did in Monroe, even though I was downgrading to 24 a month. So thats what I did, while scouting new gyms that were closer to where I lived and saving some money as im broke at this point from moving. But it gets better, check this out, my 5th time in the guy at the desk stops me from entering and says im not paying enough money to go to the stone way location and my membership is only good in everett and monroe and that the front desk girl made a mistake the first 4 times she let me in. After all of that, 2 years of membership, all this frustration and mistreatment, to be told im not good enough to enter. Blocked and then put on the spot and embarrassed in front of the other people. I tried to cancel, they said a manager wasnt even there. I left, signed up for a new gym and called them to cancel. They wouldnt let me do it over the phone. I had to go back. They told me a manager was there the whole time. I cant honestly believe this all happened but it did and I feel other people should know, and read this hugely legitimate roast of a seriously crappy business. These guys seriously blow. What prompted me to leave this now? I just checked my bank statement and they charged me for another month today. I cancelled 2 months ago and having paid first and last month when I signed up I shouldnt be charged again, and it wasnt 24, it was 27 this time, so they lied there too (lol?) and they lied when they told me I wouldnt be charged again.. Am I legit getting scammed now?? Cant wait to see what they have to say this time, I hope perhaps a good refund over what they just charged me, to make up for being so absolutely horrendous to someone.

I was kind enough for seven months not to rate the very poor treatment that I received at ECA, hoping that the staff and administrators would do the proper and right set of actions to amend their negligence. I had been a member a few months and was part of The Fit Lab class for a few weeks before my accident. The instructor asked us to go around the facilities performing lunges with a barbell over our shoulder; I did as instructed. A janitor, who was fired shortly after my accident, was cleaning the narrow hallway, where they entire class was performing the forward lunges. Without any wet floor signs or mopping bucket, he moved out of the way and with a hand gesture he gave me the good-to-go, through the area he had just cleaned. As soon as I put my front foot forward, my legs open on a complete split. My front knee hit the floor and my lower back brace the entire barbell weight that I had over my shoulders. Two staff members and instructor came to help me get up. They told the janitor not to clean again during Fit Lab, questioning his actions in an upset and frustrated tone. After that day, I never went back at ECA. No one contacted me asking how was I doing, which is incredibly sad and eye opening. That night I came crying in pain to my house. I couldnt take my shoes off. I was in so much pain all night that missed work the next morning to go to a specialist. I even had to do X-rays and PT shortly after. I couldnt drive for two days or get dressed without help! When I contacted the gym, one of the managers told me: "If the owner finds out he will be extremely upset at how we managed the situation." "We will pay for your physical therapy, doctors visits and give you free personal training to help you heal faster." All of these never happened. I file a claimed, and their insurance has denied my request arguing that it was my fault. Extremely disappointed with their customer service and overall safe and customer relationships practices.

Writing on the behalf of my significant other, who has found cancelling her membership an extremely frustrating experience. She signed up for this gym thinking I might join her, but upon trying out the facility, I was not as easily sold as her. The weight area is (if I was to guess) 20 feet by 20 feet, with the other probably 1,000 square feet dedicated to cardio equipment and machines. Dumbbells only going up to 85lbs if I remember correctly--just clearly not a gym for the workouts popular in this day and age. The facility itself does not justify my 1 star review, though. The cancellation policy requires coming into the facility or sending a notarized letter. We have moved out of the area, and both work very long hours during times notaries are available. We attempted canceling over the phone a number of times, but they would make no exception even though we canceled in similar ways with other gyms, from the largest franchises to local mom and pop facilities. During my last call, I mentioned having no choice but to place a hold on the payments with our bank. I was hung up on by the extremely helpful gentleman on the other line (this was today, July 19 at 7:45pm, Stone way location). This policy is very clearly in place to intentionally make it difficult to cancel, or give their salespeople one last attempt to talk cancelling members into maintaining memberships by having them do so in person. I find it hard to believe this policy is in place to protect members from random people prankingly canceling on their behalf. Not to mention you have our emails on file. And phone numbers. Well, the strategy worked. You got 3 months and $120 out of us. unfortunately I will vehemently advise against this gym to friends, family, and coworkers, especially the active ones that live in the area. Im frankly shocked this shady business practice is still in place in this day and age.
