LA Fitness as a whole is awesome... I first became a member many years ago up north at the Mill Creek location. After several moves I had to cancel my membership, no problems there. January 2010 I re-enrolled after moving down to the Des Moines/Federal Way area. I attend the Redondo La Fitness, the reason I keep the membership is because it is less than 2 minutes from my house. The staff there has never been friendly to me or been personable whatsoever. Now, after my experience today I am considering canceling my membership. I brought my cousin into the gym after printing him a 3-day free membership pass. On the website it did not mention any type of promotion or walkthrough or any type of small print jargon. When we got there the front desk didnt say anything to me or my boyfriend (who has been a member for over 2 years) until I said I brought in someone new. They immediately jumped on him like vultures, ushering him away to their office area, and not even acknowledging myself or my boyfriend. As we walked toward my cousin several staff members came up to us saying "do you want to sign up as well?", "are you a potential client?" so on and so forth.. I was asked this more than twice which really made me irritated. The fact that I have been a member for more than a year and none of them knew I was a member is soooooooooo unprofessional and kind of rude. It shows their lack of care for their members and a severe lack of attention. We just left because my cousin was being hounded and after we told the staff members that he was only visiting they wanted to charge him $20 for a one day pass, which I understand charging if youre a non-member.. but, $20 is a little much. I am not saying all LA Fitness locations are horrible... but Redondo does not get a thumbs up from me and may lose a customer.

There are two LA Fitness gyms in the general area that are HORRIBLE. One of them is this one at the Renton Landing & the other one is on hwy 99 near Federal Way. Both of these places need to start over and mandate that members take a class on appropriate behavior. AND both of these locations need bouncers! I have never been in a gym environment in my life where I felt threatened all the time. These places are like what you see on TV in those prison shows. I mean really, whats with the HUGE number of gang-bangers and convicts? You can tell by their gang & prison tats where many of these thugs are from. They claim all of the equipment, push people around, scare off other citizens that also have memberships and are just trying to get a workout in for the day. So again Renton Landing & hwy 99 in federal way are both THUG- Vile. I would not recommend either of these locations unless you want to get shot or beat up. Hey LA Fitness you should just turn these two gyms over to the bangers & convicts and the rest of us will find a different gym that actually gives a crap about all of its customers. This is why the local LA Fitness is doomed and they keep losing customers. Youd tink theyd be smart enough to figure it out. But guess not.

This is not a Bad Gym, very clean and nice equipment. I have enjoyed it for years. When the time comes to cancel your membership it is another story. I figured canceling would be easy given I had been a member for +3 years so i walked in and they say they cannot cancel in the gym I have to mail a request to texas. texas? really? So I figure it was no big deal maybe I could do it online...Nope same thing. So I send in my request form that has to be picked up at the gym and send it in. Also they will charge you for another 30 days after they get the request, snail mail taken into consideration it could be up to 6 wks. before you actually get your final bill. good god. I justify All that pumping Iron, swimming, running, pain and sweating as preparation for the "Final Battle" Save yourself the headache, ballys on 1st have and up by 320th are just as nice, I actually Like the Cave style weight room on 1st ave more than the auditorium like gym, and wierdos in the parking lot cant undress your girl in the pool like LA. Also They dont try to pull a racket on you when its time to leave either, Ballys is much better in my opinion.

I have been working out at this LA Fitness for about a year. I was at the Enchanted Parkway LA before. I know when I go to do a leg workout that the squat racks will be empty because there are 4 of them and I can always get my Glutes totally pumped! Yeah!!! Then when I want to pump up my massive bi-ceps I totally go to the free weights before the machines because I want to get pumped before I go where the chicks hang! YEAH!!! Then I can go show everyone who the boss is at this awesomely clean club by going to the front desk and chatting up dat dime piece who be chillin up dere! YEAH BOOOYYYYY!!! WhooH! She is total eye-candy for us buff meat heads and the gym is basically devoid of any other hot broads they just dont compare to the BABE at the front! MAN, WHOOH! If you want a serious workout with open equipment and not to much lolly gagging this is a good gym. A little ghetto sometimes, but thats Fed Weezie!

DONT GO HERE! Most incompetent staff members. Signed up in January and was promised to pay $40 a month. Thats $20 each for my wife and I. We were charged over $400 within a week. No one could explain why we were being charged and they could no issue a refund. I had to call corporate. They issued my a refund for the overcharge. This was in the beginning of January. Every time we go there they say we owe them $99.34 for the first and last, even when we show them our bank statements showing charges for Jan-->March. We talked to at least 5 different staff members at all so that they would call us. No person ever called us. We quit the gym today, less than two months after signing up. The manager Britney, and sales person Melissa are the most fake and incompetent employees Ive ever encountered. They will say whatever they think you want to hear and not do anything to fix your problem.

Terrible service.... Staff is generally on personal cell phones and distracted when you ask for help. I had a couple of scheduled personal training sessions that mysteriously werent in the system or were scheduled for different times when I showed up. When I signed up with one of their trainers, they were unable to print the contract and despite being reassured that it would be mailed, it was never sent. I didnt worry about it because I figured the only thing I needed to worry about was the cancellation policy, which I inquired about at the desk. I was told the membership would continue automatically, but the training was for a specific term length. After I was charged when I thought the contract was over, I was told I should have known thats how it worked and it was my fault. A few members of the staff are very nice, but overall service is awful.
