I LOVED this place! Background story... I moved from Massachusetts to Phoenix to go to school and I have had the most hellish time looking for a hair stylist. I have had so many awful and horrific experiences. This was probably the 8th salon I visited in Phoenix. I have AFRICAN AMERICAN HAIR and every time I call a salon, the first thing I ask is: "How well are you guys with African American hair?" They usually reply something skeptical, so I dont go. I recently decided that I wanted to grow my hair out, so I needed someone to help me get on the right track. Yesterday, I was looking for a salon. It being Sunday, there werent many options. I yelped "hair salons" and checked "open now" and this was on the list. It isnt far from my campus so I decided to call. Again I asked how well they were with African American hair. The receptionist said that they had someone. Of course, I was skeptical, but they were able to take me in that same day!! I got there, and much to my surprise, it was a white girl! First, let me just say that Kelley is AWESOME! She told me her background before she started. She said that she was originally trained in ethnic/textured hair (she was also from the east coast, which automatically made me trust her ;]) and she had family members with textured hair. She explained to me what she was going to do, the products she was going to use, and told me how to maintain my hair and what to do to achieve hair growth. The thing I liked most about Kelley is that she was able to make me feel comfortable and I was confident that she knew what she was doing. My hair turned out AMAZINGLY! I personally think its the best it has ever been. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here, and I have already recommended this salon (and Kelley) to my friends and colleagues.

I love going to Downtown Salon Phoenix! The staff is so nice and the salon is always clean and accommodating. I get my hair cut there and have been going to see Ruth for years now. Besides always loving my cut and color, I have also received other services and have never been let down! I would highly recommend this place, as it is chic, trendy and fun. Downtown Salon Phoenix really values their customers and appreciates our business. They always create an experience for you and will always remember your name. This is without a doubt the best salon in town.

My first time and it is the worst experience Ive ever had in my life. I had a pedicure and the guy who did it completely messed up. He couldnt put the polish on right, be barely clean or cut my cuticles, it looked as though a seven year old did my pedicure. Never again in my life would I go back or refer a friend. He even asked if I can pay him in cash for tip. Wow.....really? And he wanted to open up a salon in Southern California?? Good luck with that because the service was by all means NOT up to par.

I have been going to Downtown Salon in Phoenix for a couple years now. My experience has always been extremely positive and I have always found the staff to be very friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. My stylist, Adrian, always does a great job and is excellent at mens styles. His outgoing and fun personality always makes my day. My masseuse (and owner), Trankie, is amazing! I have never had such a great, relaxing massage. I highly recommend this place!

Every trip I am greeted by friendly and knowledgable staff, that really take pride in what they do. I regularly get compliments on my haircut and always send them to Ruth at Downtown Salon. My husband and I visited the salon--he got a pedi and really enjoyed the experience. I had a manicure and the regular manicurist was not available. Not only did the back up person "burn" my nails by scraping off too much top nail, he had no idea what he was doing with the polish. I had to remove the polish and allow my nails to heal. I get manicures every week--worst I have ever had.

I went in for a haircut and it turned out nothing like I wanted or asked for. I didnt feel comfortable enough in the stylists skills to go back and get it fixed, so I went to a different salon and was told by my new stylist that it was one of the worst haircuts she had ever seen. I called to try to get a refund and was not able to get one. Expensive price, poor quality.

Ive been going for massages at Downtown Salon Phoenix regularly now for about half a year (about once a week). The staff there are super friendly and welcoming. A great environment to get your hair styled or nails done. Or perhaps a massage interests you...Trankie is the absolute best; best smile, best hugs, best massage. A real standup guy. A real standup place.

This place was a find. Got done with meeting and yelped massage and this place came up. I didnt have an appt and and the nice receptionist called the therapist who had just left and called her back. Yvonne was friendly and competent and the massage room nicely appointed. So hard sometimes to get a good massage on the road but that wasnt a problem here!

Ive been going to Ruth since I moved to Phoenix three years ago. Shes always super easy going and very skillful when it comes to achieving the look and style I want. The other stylist and the owner are always super friendly and not overbearing. Its a great salon for men and women that offers earnest price points and stylists with a great skill set.

Best Salon experience, Frida is amazing! Loved my manicure and pedicure. The massage hands down one of the best Ive ever had, highly reccomend Michelle. The staff was great friendly and attentive, they even ordered my lunch for me. Excellent customer service. Definately worth going to if youre in the Downtown Phoenix area!!!!

Ive been on tour since April all across North America and this is the first great cut Ive had since I left home! The cutest little gal named Kelly cut my hair later on a Monday night. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job. The entire staff was super cool too. I will come back when Im in Phoenix.

I have found the best stylist in Phoenix. Ruth is wonderful! She always does exactly what I ask and my hair always looks great. I was nervous about parking the first time I went, but there is a parking garage on 2nd, and the salon validates your ticket.

I got a massage here after I had a long work week. It was the best gift I could have ever given to myself. I was a little bite sore the day after but besides that I felt better than ever and ready to tackle any obstacle.
