I have been going to Aveda Institute for approximately 2 years. I have always had excellent service. I have never had an issue with my services there. The instructors ensure that the color and cut meet or exceed your expectations. I typically go from blonde in the spring and summer to various shades of brunette in the fall and winter. The stylists and instructors ALWAYS discuss at length what processing will be done to my hair with me so we are all in agreement. I have not been disappointed yet. Many of the students have a great understanding of the chemistry of hair color. I was just in last Friday and saw Christopher. He is AMAZING with color!! I think he is the best so far and this is my third or fourth class since I started going to Aveda. Those that complain of the time it takes to get a service need to remember that this is a cosmetology school. The students always become more proficient as they get closer to graduation. The reason a haircut takes 2 hours is because the student is not just cutting your hair. They provide a relaxation treatment at the beginning and for a mens haircut they give a mini facial. Many times if I at the wash bowl while a botanical has time to condition my hair, the stylist will massage my hands which is not something typical at a normal salon. Patience is a virtue and the reward is 95% of the time is fabulous hair or facial from an esthetician student. My ONLY recommendation/suggestion for Aveda is PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE enforce your dress and appearance code. Most of the classes the students look very professional, polished and show that they are capable by having great hair, make up done etc. However, some classes for some reason get a little...sloppy I would say. Dont allow goth make-up, or not wearing any make-up and ensure the students hair and appearance represents what Aveda is about and DONT be afraid to send them home if they dont adhere to the rules. This is a learning institute, they are not out in the real world yet and therefore, rules and processes still apply.

Ive heard really good things about Aveda, so i decide to try this place out. It always seems to be a problem to get a appointment with them. After my first visit,I bought the "Damage Remedy hair care line" I was told that I would get a credit on my next appointment because I bought product on my first visit. I have tried 2+ more times to book for my follow up to have the actual job done. I even had to change my work schedule to get this done and they decided to cancel on me on the last minute. I confirmed a day before my appointment to make sure its all set to go which they did confirm. The day finally comes and after so long waiting for a single appointment, of course they cancel on me for the second time. It is a hassle just trying to book appointment and changing my work schedule but I am just at the point where professionalism has to come through if your trying to grow a career in this field. Its not client satisfactory. When I told the lady I have been trying to book an appointment for the past 3 weeks she wasnt even empathetic! I keep being told the same thing "Lets reschedule" or "Most of our students are absent". Im done trying to book an appointment with them, they clearly dont want my business.

I have been attending the Aveda Institute Tucson since October 2009. I have been an Aveda product junkie for years and adore the company and everything it stands for, so this was an obvious choice for me when it came to cosmetology schools. Its amazing to be able to work with products daily that are organic, cruelty-free, and also work wonders! Aside from that, the faculty is wonderful. There are kinks here and there (this is only the second year weve been open), but every staff member is consistently working to make this the best institute it can be. Its very refreshing to have a staff so invested in their workplace and in the students who attend. Last, but definitely not least, I cant say enough about our instructors. They truly are amazing at what they do, and they genuinely care about your progress and understanding of every technique. All my questions are always answered and I know I can go to any of them with any questions or concerns and they will work with me. I feel they truly enable me to be the best I can be. The institute is not only my school, it is my second home and I couldnt be happier with my choice in schools! :)

For someone who used to spend $70 and up for a color and cut I was hesitant to go to a school since I thought that the quality of the higher end salons could not be matched. Now that I am forced to cut back and budget on certain things I thought that I might try a higher end school. While in Tempe the Carsten Aveda Institute never disappointed and now that Im living in Tucson the Aveda Institute delivers the same quality of service. Of course you have to be prepared for the fact that they are students and will take quite a bit longer than a regular salon. Thats to be expect however and they tell you that up front. Included in the the price for a hair cut and style is a massage (hand, scalp, neck and shoulder) and while getting shampooed you sit in a massage chair! The students are pleasant to deal with and very professional. I left there feeling relaxed with a great haircut. Will definitely be back.

i just *TORE UP* a coupon i had redeemable for $37 in services and threw it in the trash because i do not want so much as a pedicure from this place. i would rather cut my own hair with my own dull scissors than accept a future service. my experience *twice* is that their employees need to learn the professional importance of *CLEAR COMMUNICATION.* i *DO NOT* recommend the aveda institute - particularly for haircuts if you actually *CARE* about your hair. i do not know how many *YEARS* it will take for the damage resulting from one failed miscommunication with the stylist to be undone. (i thought i was clear by saying a QUARTER OF AN INCH but lost 4 inches of my favorite part of my naturally sun-bleached blond hair - and my hair may well be naturally grey by the time it is capable of growing back). so if you care about your hair, my experience is that it is *NOT* worth the risk.

Ive been attending the Aveda Institute Tucson for about 4 months now and have learned an insane amount of information in such a short amount of time; Im already out on the salon floor performing haircut and color services. The service schedule is always booked, so you get a lot of hands on experience. Im looking forward to spending the rest of my time here focusing on learning the advanced techniques that set Aveda graduates apart from other cosmetology graduates. Not only are the educators amazing but the school is beautiful. I look forward to coming to school every day I have school, and cant wait until Im a professional cosmetologist and get to do this everyday. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone looking to go to cosmetology school in Tucson, there is no doubt its the best in town.
