I finally found a great salon in Pasadena. Funny enough its actually in Arcadia but thats only a few minutes away. I love this salon first I was really unsure about it. I read the reviews on Yelp and saw that it only had 3 stars and there were others that had 4 and 4.5 stars but I also checked out that the others had a lot less reviews. And these guys have about 100 reviews but Yelp is only showing 20 something. Either way I chose them because it was on my way from where I am currently staying. The place is nice and clean and the clientele seems pretty varied. I like the fact that they seem to do very high end stuff without any of the pretension. I LOVED this a lot. Before I go on I am going to say the negatives. It seemed a little disorganized, and the place like I said is clean but it does seem like they are still trying to find their look and feel. It was a mixture between industrial and then that Faux-glam style "juicy" look which seems to be more of their norm...but I wish they would avoid that. Ive always felt that whole pink and rhinestone look is really cheap in general so guys if you read your own reviews PLEASE stay classy! LOL with that said the service was spot on they have some coffee and cookies in the back and I was helped by Frances. Everything was great I really felt good there, I do feel however that they need to relax and just breathe. They have a great service and AMAZING shampoo! Their products are nice too I didnt know that they had Bumble and Bumble as their product line and they used Aveda Color. I was totally unfamiliar with these so I literally came in blind but it worked out really well. One of the things that really surprised me was that in terms of the service that I received was by far one of the best and because of the type of business Im in I have gone to the the big guys in the West Side and Santa Monica places that A. Were VERY pricey maybe overpriced and B. Really really unwelcoming you knew who the regulars and the cliques were and if youre a stranger careful. However it was a real find to be able to go here and find that they a high class service in the area!

This place is really really nice! I love their location its really close to everything and for a couple of times theyve been able to squeeze me in to a spot on my way from or to work. Especially for just a touch up which I really appreciate! Their facilities are very clean I saw the girls cleaning their areas and always making sure things are in order and I was talking to the owner and I found out that they hire a cleaning crew that comes in every night which really surprised me I know some of the haute places do this but it was nice to see that these guys at 1st Avenue were that serious. I hate to say it but in the San Gabriel Valley area were not so known for this type of standard. Usually you go into Pasadena and beyond for something like this. BUT onto the service they had it right on the ball. I asked for a suggestion and I was walked through the reasoning of how to do my hair once I am home and as for the products they also taught me some best practices for conditioner and proper shampoo tecniques which I really appreciated! Thank you so much! I will be going back again but I suppose after 4 visits you know I am serious lol.

This place is great. The staff is wonderful but it was a little crowded as they seemed to have overbooked but I suppose its a good thing that they have the demand. My girlfriend had come here before and she mentioned that they did mens cuts and skin care treatments. After going to supercuts for a lifetime with some upscale salons for special occasions it was nice to find a salon with great service in Arcadia. The San Gabriel Valley is lacking for upscale treatments and the only touch of class in the area can be found in Old Town Pasadena and even then some of the salons are just overpriced. With regards to the service the shampoo was great and the cut was good a little shorter than usual, I expressed what I wanted and then my stylist suggested I try something a little different and I actually really like the look. For just a little more and by that I mean about 5 dollars more you get a great shampoo with quality product and personal service so I will totally recommend them.

THANK YOU FRANCES FOR A GREAT EXPERIENCE! I moved to Arcadia a few months ago and I was so nervous to try out a new salon, I had been going to the same person for over 10 years! I desperately in need of a haircut, basically I had resorted to ponytail every day for the past month. I found 1st Ave Salon on line and then checked out their Facebook. I called to see about making an appointment and spoke with Frances who made me feel very comfortable. When I got to the salon, it was easy parking in the back public parking area, I entered the salon and found it to have a nice positive and warm atmosphere! I met with Frances and explained how I would like to have my hair, we talked about the color and then she did her magic…My color was perfectly matched to what I already had, my cut was perfect…. I felt like a new person. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

Well, I went to this establishment to find that the paper work that printed from gruopon wasnt the correct paper work to get the deal. The owner Veka came to the rescue she called the groupon rep. They called her back and the deal was on. I put myself in her hands to do a cut color and highlights. I always have issues of my hair turning orange red or green if the color isnt done right. I told Veka this I have never sat in a chair that the end results came out with no issues. In fact my hair came out fantastic. Thank you to Veka for the cut, color , and highlights. Also one of her staff did a brow wax which I never had before and it was great too. Thank you for the best service I have had in 20 years. I will return as soon as its time to get this all over again. On a scale from 1- 10 I give them a 18 they are over the top on the service they gave me. Thank you!!!!!!

1St Avenue Salon is worth the price! I made an appointment and had Veka as my hairstylist. I was doubtful if I should have an Ombre or an overall hair color + caramel highlights and lowlights. Veka was very accommodating and gave me some suggestions that helped me decide what hairstyle should I have. She did a perfect haircut which made my hair look healthier especially my hair ends. So I decided to have a brown Ombre color and wanted my ends not too light/blonde (wanted for a sun kissed-like effect hahah). I was very, very, very amazed and satisfied with my hair!!! It was perfect, just what I wanted! Got a lot of compliments with my hair too! Veka did an excellent job! It takes one to know how to satisfy their client. Bottom line is, I highly recommend & 1st ave not only for their skilled hairstylists but also with their great customer service.
