I have loved my experience at YMCA up until I moved further away from the location and had to cancel. The cancellation process is difficult. It had to be done in person, I would call every month or few weeks to see if I could mail in my request as it was inconvenient for my husband and I to make it to the Downey location. When I finally got a chance to come in late on a Friday I was told by the rep that I needed to come in 15 days before my payment date in order not to be charged. I was fuming. After all this time on the phone, it was not something they had mentioned to me prior. She was clearly new as she called over another representative for help trying to get the account pulled up. Thank God for Jorge, we told him our concerns and he made an exception, asking why we were looking to cancel. We mentioned we had moved much further away and the YMCA was no longer an option for us and he understood. 5 stars for some genuine understanding!!

Seems like they couldnt fill the spots for the basketball league for kids 11 and up. My 9 years old son is part of the 8-10 league. SO... the organizers make 9 years old kids play against 12 years old kids. I know that EVERY child must have the same opportunity, but theres a big growth difference between this two ages. The smaller kids barely get to touch the ball. This is supposed to be an enriching experience but rather became a frustrating experience. The score keeper lacks common sense, the score board is 40 to 6 and they keep adding and adding and adding points instead of stopping at certain point -specially if they see the kids sad faces. NOTE: its not that I want my kid to win all the time, when they play against kids the same age, the score is pretty tight and fair. Very disappointing.... hope someone does something and doesnt allow other kids to go through this again.

Gails water aerobics class is the best. My friend and I have been coming here since 2014, and we love the workout and the friendship. We are like family. Gail is a great instructor, and she cares about her students. Whats cool is she gets in the water and workout with us. The music, which shes respectful of all the various cultures, is an added bonus as we have a ball working out to anything from jazz, Big Band; Gangum Style to the Cupid Shuffle, and western.

First visit was different from my Vegas Y but still the staff and was nice and the facility equipment was a bit older but still good workout so no complaints. I appreciate it was very clean and enjoyed they had Wi-fi. Fairly close to my moms and in a nice neighborhood. Liked much better than the Del Amo Y on Long Beach. Great place for away from home visits.

Front desk guy with glasses is an idiot. Couldnt find the account. Then didnt know how to read the account. Couldnt give me definite or reasonable answers. Then blamed the director for setting up a new system. Ymca personell need more training on how to manage payments and their own computer software

Friendly staff. Old but quality weights and dumbells/barbells. Would recommend this to others. Especially as their first gym.
