no good; females beware It bums me out to write this review, but I feel it needs to be said. My hope is that it spares another person from what I experienced. I have historically taken my car to Encinitas Foreign & Domestic, and received good service. Ive even referred a couple people to go there. Tax return time recently came, and I wanted to make sure I was taking care of my car as a monetary priority. Though no lights were on, I needed expert advice on services I should perform on my car to keep it healthy. My car was running rougher than the day I bought it, sure, but I wouldnt be able to tell you the difference between a valve issue, a major transmission problem or just running low on gas. On the phone and in person, I explained my position to Encinitas Foreign & Domestic, and the employees told me that they would take the car for a spin, check out my repair history, thoroughly check the car "as if it were their own", check out what the manual says, & give me a priority list. When I went to sign the greenlight for this discovery work, the line item said "Diagnostic" which to my knowledge & in prior EF&D workings means checking an error code. I asked why this was the line item, and they mentioned that they didnt have a line item to properly describe what theyd be doing. They gave me a priority list, & performed the work. $1,700 and 2 weeks later my check engine light came on. I called them, mentioning how disheartened I was that my light was on now. They mentioned that they can waive the diagnosis fee if its related to their work. A week later and lots of phone calls back and forth, they had not figured out how to fix a misperforming fuel injector (reason for my check engine light being on). My new, rough subtotal was over $1,000 for the diagnosis fee that was back on the table, labor, parts & rental car. I asked for more details on what type of diagnosis, service & attention was done to my car in the prior $1,700 job. They slipped up twice, mentioning that they only did a "Visual Inspection" of my car, and that they didnt drive it until all services were done. 2 descriptors that were an extreme departure from the level of attention they had told me my car would be given. Throughout our calls that week, they seemed very fixated on saying that they dont have a "crystal ball", and "dont I understand that?". I wasnt blaming them for my misperforming fuel injector; I was expressing my disappointment in uncovering the level of service that wasnt given to my car after $1,700 worth of work. The separation of those 2 ideas did not come easily for anyone I spoke to at Encinitas Foreign & Domestic. I felt misled, and started looking at the services I agreed to, now knowing this information. I asked to speak to the owner, as I figured hed want to know about an upset, loyal customer. The phone call with the owner was dismal. He spoke to me in a condescending manner and cut me off multiple times. Regardless of the kind of care 2 of his employees had expressed Id be given, he asked why I didnt read what the line item had said when I signed. I said I most certainly did read the line item, but that I was told there wasnt a proper description option for what would be done. He made it clear that that wasnt his problem. Then he said in a horrid tone, "Is there someone in your life that can help explain these things to you?" I am a 31-year-old, single, female, BA in Business-Economics, DI Athlete, and Website Manager. In hindsight, I think I should have said, "Its 2017 Sir, not 1950. Is there someone in your life that can help explain that to you?" Thank you technology, progression, reviews, and the ability to have your voice heard over chauvinistic pricks like this. ...I am still getting the oil off my steering wheel and inside my car that they left and didnt clean. My fuel injector is misfiring & my check engine light is still on. Safe to say, I will never go to nor refer anyone to Encinitas Foreign & Domestic again.

I am writing this review in direct response to the one posted by Johnathin Chase. I met Johnathin at Encinitas Foreign & Domestic that morning for a pre purchase inspection of his 1992 Lexus SC400. Since I did not drive with him to the shop, I can not say whether his car was running well that day or not. I test drove his Lexus the night before and it seemed to run ok. The pre purchase inspection came back with a laundry list of items that needed attention, some much more severe than others. I did notice that his car sounded different than the night I drove it, but I do not believe in any way that Encinitas Foreign & Domestic had anything to do with it. Over the past several years, I have taken my vehicles to this shop and have never had an issue. The owner and his entire team have always provided me with the highest level of car care and maintenance. I have referred friends and family to this shop as well, and they too have only good things to say. I will continue to take my cars to Encinitas Foreign & Domestic because I trust them and their prices are competitive too.

I always walk out of Encinitas Foreign & Domestic feeling good about the experience. From the moment you walk in and are greeted by either Jonathon, Kelly, Carlos or Ken you know that youre patronizing a business that cares about their customers. Their staff defines professionalism and keeps you informed as to what is wrong with your vehicle, estimated completion time, and what options you have. I feel that I pay a fair price for work done, and the quality of work is EXCEPTIONAL. I have been a customer for 6 years, and I have always felt good about referring family and friends to their shop. Many of my family and friends are now loyal customers as well. A huge thank you to the team at Encinitas Foreign and Domestic.

I brought a car here for a inspection today. Car was running perfect when it went in. Came out running horrible. There was no acceleration and the car was smoking. I asked them what they did to my car and asked them to fix it. They told me to put in a complaint with the bureau of auto repair and to take the car to a different shop or at least off the property. Now im stuck in a legal battle. My car had to be towed wich came out of my pocket and is now sitting on the street and i am stuck with no transpertaion due to this incedent.

The best place to go if you are facing an expensive bill and need a place that cost less. They give decent rates, and even have a shuttle service in a very nice Hybrid. They handle little things too. I go to them for every thing! They have always made things right and have always been patient with me. All of the employees treat me with respect and are very polite. They treat my car with care when they have it. I could not recommend a better shop, I drive from San Diego for their great service. There is no better shop.
