My family and I discovered The Banana Hut in Eureka on a road trip. We were walking to the Lost Coast brewery restaurant when I happened to spot The Banana Hut Hawaiian BBQ sign. Having been born and raised in Hawaii, Im always looking for places that serve island cuisine. We decided to give it a try, and boy were we glad we did! This place serves the best Hawaiian food Ive had in 16 years of living on the mainland! I was pleasantly surprised to see that every meal is served with actual fresh poi! We ordered an ahi poke appetizer and it came with limu seaweed on top, just like home! I ordered a "Local Boy Kine" plate: kalua pig, lau lau, macaroni salad and two scoops of rice (an island standard). Both the kalua pig and lau lau were PERFECT, tender and moist--not dry and tasteless like other places. The Banana Hut Hawaiian BBQ is the perfect place for displaced Hawaiians.

What an absolutely scrumptious satisfying mouthwatering lunch I had today! I met a friend for lunch at The Banana Hut, and we ended up chatting over two hours because the food, the atmosphere, and the service were so great! I had the kahlua pig sandwich with fries. The kahlua pig was delicious, and the fries were cooked to perfection. My friend had the kahlua pig salad which she let me try. I am definitely going to order the kahlua pig salad the next time I go to The Banana Hut (which will be soon--its just that good!). David was our server, and he made our experience a positive one. Jennifer made me one of the best chocolate martinis I have ever had. That was such a treat. Yes, my lunch with my friend at The Banana Hut was definitely the highlight of my day. Five stars!

The service was very friendly. I had the new york strip steak which was super juicy and cooked to a perfect medium-rare. I would have liked a little bit more glavor but if that means it would be less tender then i dont want them to change a thing! The garlic mashed potatoes were awesome. The side salad was satisfying. The piñacolada was a little strong for me but is was still good - i dont drink more than once every few months so i have no tolerance to alcohol. My father-in-law had the Maui Waui Mahi Mahi. He said it was delicious and the perfect portion. He didnt have any left-overs but said he was full but not bloated-full. My husband had the lemon chicken. He said was too sweet, but it was a gopd deal. He is not a fan of sweet things. He likes sour or spicy.

Been here a few times. Non-vegetarians really enjoy the food. As a vegetarian, there isnt enough on the menu and whats there is too pricy. Ive ordered the two different grilled veggie dishes. For the price, theres not nearly enough tofu. Next time I might try the salad, if I can get it without meat. Meh, not much on the menu for me to be excited about. Maybe I should check out the desserts instead next time. The sweet potato fries were okay, but Im guessing theyre cooked in the same oil as the meat because they tasted a bit off. I didnt eat them all or take them with me. I didnt really like the dipping sauce with it. It would be really aersome if you could offer seitan substitutions instead of meat. That would really open up the menu for vegetarians!

Delicious, festive, and fun a bit! As beautiful as the north coast is, sometimes you still need something to color your day and warm your stomach amidst the famous Red Woods and infamous grey weather. Their drinks are more colorful than a Brazilian Carnival and twice as tasty! Then there is the food... from delicious ribs soaked in a sweet pineapple sauce (or gravy) to more authentic dishes such as Lau Lau and then onto the hybrids like Kalua Pig Nachos, they have something for everybody! Couple the delicious food with great service and the husband/wife owners wholl personally prepare your meal, check on you and even crack a joke, it just doesnt get much better than that.

Today, my husband and I had a delicious lunch with pineapple ribs which were so tender and moist and accompanied with homemade macaroni salad and 2 large portions of steamed rice smothered in homemade pineapple gravy. YUM! There was so much on our plates that we took half of it home for our dinner tonight, so after almost 50 years of cooking, mostly from scratch, Im going to have the night off from my kitchen. What a treat! As far as improvements? How can you improve on perfection? I know how much work and time it takes to make homemade food instead of microwave junk, and Fatima and Ken are perfectionists when it comes to cooking homemade, which is always the BEST!

I was there with my family on vacation on the 15th and wish wed have had time during our stay to dine there again...and again. Incredible food comes from Fatimas kitchen and I regret not being able to thank her personally. Im sure wed still have enjoyed our visit if Ken werent there but his presence in the front of the house put our experience over the top. There wasnt anything we didnt genuinely enjoy on our plates and I highly recommend going when Ken is there as his timely and very amusing occasional visits table side added a whole new dimension to our meal. Whod have thought that some of the very best Hawaiian food and aloha spirit could be found in Eureka, CA.

Lick the plate clean kind of place, but no i didnt really. I had a feeling about this place when they first opened, i dont know how i could have been passing them up this whole time. I can sum it up by saying wow! I met the chef and said thank you for the great meal. you have to try it if you havent before. second i want to say, who the heck is this urbanspoon? they must have been in a bad mood that day, i wouldnt listen to them. I am definately coming back and bringing some friends and i even met one of my friends already in there when i sat down cause they like the place too.

I am always very pleased with the service I receive when I eat at Banana Hut. The food is delicious. I havent had a single dish that I have disliked. Their mocktails are to die for as well. The banana colada and mac mania are the best in my opinion. They also have a very good customer rewards program. As a member of their royalty rewards program I have seen incredible return on my purchases. They also have drawings and giveaways every month for members. My family and I will continue to eat there and I encourage others too as well. You wont be disappointed.

We are coming through Eureka on vacation, as Im sure many others do, and found The Banana Hut online. We decided to go there for dinner because it was something different and had good reviews. All of the food we ordered was so delicious and the atmosphere was fun! My mom got the coconut shrimp with a green salad and pineapple gravy on her rice. My dad got the mahi mahi dish with macaroni salad and pineapple gravy on his rice. I got the Kalua Pig sliders and sweet potato fries - those are some of the best sweet potato fries Ive ever had!
