It was a bad experience not for the True Sushi eater unless you like bland ugly sushi! This place was so horrible! My sisters and I have been eating sushi since we were children long before it became a trend of everyone along with Starbucks and boots. I went to the downtown Sacramento location and I decided that it would be fun to eat sushi in the Uber-cool ambiance of downtown Sac and this was a mistake. I realized after the gyoza came that we were just paying for the rental space and not for good sushi. I ordered their version of a "spider roll" and went simple with a california roll. This was a mistake i also ordered my all time favorite nigiri tako and this is a necessity when I go out for sushi. So my sisters ordered the katsu and teri chicken and this took about 45 minutes between the gyoza and the rest of the food. They brought my sisters plates of chicken first before the rolls which was awkward in the timing usually you should get the nigiri first around the time of the appetizer as well as the rolls before the meals. They brought my nigiri last which was only a small part of the problem. First the "complimentary" miso soup was cold and seemed like it was from a packet from the 99 cent store. Then the chicken teri and katsu were both brought with a reminder a large wait around 45 minutes and they were cold, not warm, very very cold ( i thought miso was served hot) Then when the rolls came it became almost unbearable the waiter when he brought the 2 chicken meals that it would be another 5-10 minutes for the rolls and nigiri. The rolls finally came and they were rolled horribly with cold soft shell crab not freshly fired at all. And the california roll came with a roll of fake crab which looked so horrible. I understand that california roll is imitation but in a roll of imitation crab i have never seen, it should always be flaked. So finally the nigiri came at a price of $5.95 for a pair which is about $2 increase from the excellent sushi i have been in San Diego, Vacaville, and Fairfield. The rolling of the rolls and the nigiri were the worst roll i have ever seen. With all this said it was a thought that the look and location of a place should make it good. But this is not true it is not the look or place that determine the goodness of any food and I now know that I can find better sushi in Vacaville a much smaller town than in Sacramento. I went to the manager about the food and he sounded totally surprised which really scares me that he thinks their food is good. They put me on a credit for a future visit if i would like to come back and get the same bad dishes again, Oh how nice of them!

There is NO place better- except the other Mikuni locations... Some of my favs- BBQ tuna (I ask for the Zig Zag Sauce for dipping), I also love the tuna sliders- YUM!, The pepper fin is a tender buttery delicious dish, and of course lots of rolls, but my favorite is a tie between the Tommy roll, and the incredible roll with brown rice and lemon added. Flaming mushrooms are bomb- but order them to be cut in half, otherwise there too big to try and eat sometimes. Going to Mikunis has RUINED me from enjoying sushi anywhere else... Talking about all this food just made me hungry! I think ill make my way there now cause they open at 11:30!

There are multiple Mikuni restaurants around the Sacramento area but in my experience, the quality of food and service differs in each of them. This one off Hazel is their original and has been the most consistent in good taste and service. If Im near this location, this is my #1 pick over other sushi places, but if Im near any of the others, it would really be a toss up. The Iron Chef combo is a good choice, you get a good balance of fresh fish and roll. My least favorite combo is the sushi illustrated; its all rolls, and imo, theres too much heavy fried items on the rolls and not enough fresh fish.

This place is one of the best Sushi Restaurants in America - hands down. I have had Sushi everywhere - and this little place in Sacramento of all places (one of the worst cities on the planet) has some of the tastiest sushi. Try this: 3 piece tuna appetizer with red sauce Puff Daddy Roll Michi Roll Incredible Roll You will not be disappointed. This is my favorite stop for sushi - I have their number on speed dial. Definitely my favorite restaurant in town and is one of the few great things about Sacramento....

Sacramento ultimate sushi place, must come and eat. So many sushi restaurant in Sacramento just trying to copy them. Great ambiance, keep coming back always, never disappoint. Try their BBQ tuna, Black and White, Pepperfin, Benjamin Roll, Incredible Roll, Sha Salad, Japanese pasta. Never fail in the freshness of the fish, always fresh, dont forget to ask any new coming fish, and ask for a nigiri, always fresh and melted on mouth.

I cant imagine anyone not giving Mikunis 5 Stars. I may have eaten there 50 times and it has always been perfect. They have half a dozen locations in the Sacramento area, and the quality of food and service could not be better. I love the limited time specials (DeMarcus Cousins roll anyone?) I also appreciate how active they are in the community - you can often see Taro at charity events.

Always come to the fair oaks location. The past 2 times visiting Ive had horrible customer service. So unprofessional to ask a frequent customer how was the service last time due to little tip. You received a lower tip because you constantly interrupted and messed up my order! Will be taking my weekly sushi to the Roseville locations for better service. Worth the drive

Seriously? The service was terrible! We ordered the 4 course dinner which arrived at the same time. Really? Then the waiter disappeared. Come to find out he was moved to another section, leaving us with NO waiter. The sushi chefs were too busy talking in their own language and laughing to give us service. Taro - I am so disappointed.

Quality sushi. Always good but its a little on the expensive side. Really a great place to try new things and there are a lot to try. Always been a fan of Mikuni but as prices go Blue Nami is just a little cheaper. Not better but cheaper. So for me this is about once in every five choice.

My best experiences at this location have been the two times my work team of 9 - 11 people have gone as a group. The staff was very attentive and willing to answer all our questions. We usually order a couple party platters (B & C).

We had no reservation but came with a party of 12. Within 10 minutes we were seated and our waiter, Matt, was incredible. Everything was perfect and we thank you for this finale for my son being promoted to Captain in the USNG.
