If you have no patience for avaricious auto shops with cantankerous service, I highly suggest you look elsewhere. Initially the owner seemed apathetic but understanding when I declined his services after an outrageous quote that well exceeded the value of my disabled vehicle. He agreed to let the vehicle stay on the lot until I could locate a used transmission and arrange for the repair at another, more reasonably-priced mechanic. When my alternate mechanic went to gather the VIN number and production date of my failed transmission he was denied access to my vehicle and given misinformation on multiple occasions, which significantly delayed the repair. The situation finally culminated with the owner rudely dismissing my mechanic and placing a threatening phone call giving me 24 hour notice to remove my vehicle just hours before he closed shop for the weekend.

Ive been taking my vehicles to Dave and the team at Fort Bragg Transmission for years now! They are always professional, trustworthy, timely in repairs and services, and willing to explain things in a manner I can understand as I have limited knowledge of car mechanics. Unfortunately, I have been taken advantage of by other mechanics out of the area and thats why I value having a place on the coast that I am confident in and comfortable with the services and prices they offer! I refer all my friends and family there because I know theyll be treated with fairness and leave with complete satisfaction! I also love the fact that Dave is a local community member that gives back every chance he gets!!!! Ill support local businesses anytime I can and especially when its a great family owned/run establishment like FBT is.

Dave and the guys at FBT did a great job on my Toyota Tacomas drive train! Nice guys, affordable, and reliable. Spot on on the quoted price, not a nickel more than what Dave quoted me over the phone. I was going to do the work myself, but when I priced out the parts and fluids from Napa, it was actually going to cost more to do the job myself, so I took a gamble with them and it payed off. I would definitely recommend them for trustworthy transmission service. The coast needs a place like this since were stranded over here an hour from Ukiah, and not a lot of other options. They could do the coastal gouge like every other business over here, but thankfully, they dont. Definitely going to be back if I need any other repairs, thanks guys!

cost was higher than expected way higher. and was not told the amount over the phone as he said. If so why would i have been so shocked by the price almost 1000.00 more than expected. dont trust that some people care about your interest and will gouge any unsuspecting good person. i make a measly 12,000 a year running a soup kitchen in Willits Ca and am going to find it hard to pay the interest i get charged on my credit card for this. If I had known I would have driven with the broken transmission for as long as I could, it seemed to be working ok. it wasnt clunking or grinding. I went into the shop for a $ 300.00 flush.
