If you have long hair BEWARE. I got my hair done by the owner/manager, Mahshid. I cant even begin to express how frustrated I am by the whole experience, so I will list the main complaints. I called in ahead of time and talked with Mahshid she scheduled a hair appointment and a manicure/pedicure for me (or so I thought). Hair with Mahshid: 1. She criticized my hair color. 2. She rudely said my hair was too long. 3. She complained that I was too tall (I am an average height). I guess it made her arms tired, (for someone who claims to have done hair for 25 years…you’d think her arms would be used to it by now). 4. She talked poorly of another client saying that the woman was practically crazy (I wonder, how will she talk about me when I leave... (too long, too tall, etc. ?). 5. Mahshid also made a nail appointment for me over the phone; I said I wanted a manicure and a pedicure, but when I got there all I was scheduled for was a manicure. Then she had the gall to argue with me about how I only said a mani over the phone. When in fact I said both mani and a pedi. She never admitted she made a mistake, and she never apologized for the fact that I couldnt get my pedicure. Whatever happened to “the customer is always right”? 6. When she was prepping my hair for an up-do she was brushing so hard that my hair was breaking off… there were so many broken hairs all over the cape, by the time I got up it looked like she had cut my hair. My hair was very healthy and long before I went in there. It has been 2 full months since and my hair still hasn’t recovered fully from her carelessness. I didn’t spend years getting my hair to grow to my waist only to have it broken off in one day. 7. Finally, as I was having my up-do done I thought ok this looks nice…as the process continued the look kept getting worse and worse. By the time she was done my hair looked dull, matted and not at all the radiant, chic up-do I was looking for. This up-do was for a special occasion and instead of a beautiful up-do all I got was an empty wallet and pictures of the special event that were ruined because of the hideous hair do. Nail appointment: 1. The lady (can’t remember her name) who did my manicure was certainly a lot nicer than Mahshid, however that only goes so far. 2. The shape she shaped my nails as was out of date and out of fashion (I didn’t know people still did nails like that, so I didn’t know to tell her to do otherwise and by the time I noticed it was too late). 3. She made several mistakes on them, which was sad because like I said this all was for a very special occasion. 4. To be blunt, I could have done a better job myself. Needless to say I highly do NOT recommend this salon. Maybe all of the other reviewers had better stylists than I… So if you must go to Shadow’s don’t get your hair done by Mahshid and don’t get a manicure or pedicure done there.

I am a faithful hair stylist customer, I saw my last hair stylist once a month for nearly 5 years... then she ended up moving away so I was on the prowl for a new candidate. I first tried that sports clips in Irvine and holy crap I have never had a worst haircut in my life!!! The middle of my hair came down to my nose and the left about halfway down my forehead and the right side a little shorter. so naturally it took I hesitated to find another one. I found Shadows on google and saw the reviews and felt I had to give it a shot. I went in as a walkin on a Saturday afternoon and Marjan took me. From the moment I sat down she greeted me and made me feel comfortable right away. She spent a good 5-10 mins discussing my hair, how i wear it, if i change styles ever, etc. I have never had anyone ever do this before. She did offer suggestions, which was really scary, but she completely understood the texture of my hair, the styles I wanted, the shape of my head... I agreed hesitantly and it turned out amazing!! I received many many compliments, I think 3 on Saturday and another 2 on Sunday. This is a definite strong 5 stars :)

For the past 4 years, I had been looking for an expert to do my hair ever since I moved from West LA. I finally found the Stylist, Mahshid, and the Salon, Shadows Hair, on Barranca. The staff is friendly and welcoming. The products used are of premium quality, and my expert stylist, Mahshid, the owner, is a perfectionist in her work. Ever since I have used her services, I have received more compliments than I can remember: the best of them all? When I was in Sax Fifth Avenue in Washington DC., and Georgette Kinlger in Chevy Chase, a high-end Hair and Spa Salon. The stylists were asking me where and who had done my hi-lites!! They were so impressed! That says a lot. Everytime I do my hair, from haircuts to hi-lites, to makeup, I am impressed and receive compliments. But most importantly, I feel I am definitely getting my moneys worth and I TRUST the work. That is not easy to find. I referred my cousin and she was so pleased. This is the place to go for your beauty needs and my choice is Mahshid.

I am very picky when it comes to getting my hair cut. Thats why I dont do it often since Im afraid all the time it took my hair to grow would be chopped off in minutes. I was paired up with Nancy as my stylist and she did an awesome job. I printed out a sample of the hair style I liked from the internet and she cut and styled it perfectly! I am truly pleased with Nancys work. I would definitely recommend a cut from Shadows salon. The staff is friendly, the location convenient, and the decor is very modern and warm. I am definitely coming back- couldnt be happier with my cut!

After we moved to Irvine 2 and 1/2 years ago, me and my daughter started to go to Shadows Hair which we have worked with Arezo and Mahshid ( The owner) and I LOVE their work especially Mahshid which has introduced & encouraged me to different styles and colors that everybody including me loving it ( I have received many many compliments about my hair style). My daughter is 15 and loves this place and does everything needed including Brazilian and fixing her eyebrows. I recommend this place which has experienced stylists to everyone who is looking for quality and beauty.

Onésima is a hair goddess!! I had a terrible cut (it looked like a 3 yr old got a hold of scissors) and had one bad experience after another following my move to California. I was VERY hesitant to try anything else and even considered flying back to Colorado to my original hair guy just to get it fixed. I read the reviews, even the bad ones (everyone gets a bad review here and there) and decided to give it a try. Low and behold onésima fixed my hair and was patient and amazing and I love her!! I will forever follow her anywhere!
