BETWEEN THE REVIEWS w/ Rodney S Q) You recently attended a yoga class at Crunch Gym, Rodney. Whatre your thoughts? A) Rodney, Ive been to a fair amount of yoga studios previously, but never at a gym. My first time at Crunch Gym began with a Yoga Body Sculpt class What struck me was the yoga instructor gave off the impression that she learned yoga by watching a couple yoga videos and now instructs it here. I was in the middle of the multipurpose room, and I couldnt hear the yoga instructor over the music. The routine went well, but I couldnt shake the feeling that the instructor didnt have a passion for yoga. I enjoyed my yoga session, but I much prefer dedicated yoga studios. Q) How was the gym and its amenities? A) Im a member at the 24 Hour Fitness Supersport on Bellflower & Spring, and this gym is smaller compared to what Ive been accustomed to. The machines looked newish and there were lots of cardio equipment. I was there around 6pm and plenty of gym traffic, causing wait times for equipment. One thing I did like was the motion sensor water bottle refiller at the water fountain. Just place your water bottle by the sensor & its top filled with water to quench your thirst. Towards the back of the gym, there are heavy bags & matted floors for MMA enthusiasts. I can imagine intense sparring sessions suddenly erupting into a full on cage fight ;p Q) Any other things you noticed while there, Rodney? A) The restroom was clean, and an employee was servicing it at the time, so it seems the staff keeps up on having the restrooms neat & tidy. Parking can be hard to come by during peak hours. Its in a private lot shared by Papa Johns, Dollar Tree, 7-11 and Hobby People. Whats cool is that In N Out is across the street for some post-workout protein, yo! ;p Q) Do you recommend Crunch Gym? A) Ill stick to 24 Hour Fitness. Always open, more amenities with my monthly dues only $12+. Crunch Gym does offer a decent gym experience, especially for newbies, but not enough for a gym rat like me.

Bad customer services, i tried to reach the manager this morning one of the workers said she will have manager call me. Its 1pm and i didnt receive a call. Then i had to call again and talk to the assistant general manager and said her manager was busy with emails and calls. That wasnt my problem though. So I freeze my account on the 7th. I called to ask if i was going to be charge and one of their worker said no, so then I assume i wasnt going to get charge, so I budget my money to my own expenses. Then when I check my bank account this morning, it was negative, due to crunch fitness Lakewood charge. The assistant manager said she can credit me a month but couldnt do anything for the annual fee. I got three different answer from different workers. I ask for the district manager number and she gave a email, that goes directly to them, which mean the district manager will not know of the problem. I use to love crunch fitness, but now i hate it. Due to bad customer service. They need to hired new management!

Overall, the gyms atmosphere is great but it lacks organization. Several months ago, I canceled my membership due to needing to find a gym with child care. They continued to charge me every month AFTER I canceled. This is still a problem even without being a member for the last 3 months. They apparently had a new system installed and rebooted with my (& husbands) information and charged us, once again. Its a complete pain to have to call and ask for or money back, which is no longer authorized to be drafted by them. I guess the solution would be to get a new bank account instead of having to make the monthly phone call just to wait another week to get my money, money that Im not expecting to be taken from my bank. Some people dont have an extra 20 dollars to be drafted unexpectedly. Completely annoying & careless on their part.

Management is trash. They are unclear with policies and any reimbursement deals. When signing on I was not told that after a year of paying it would continue to charge my account. Four months after my membership was "over" I noticed I was still being charged and i had not been going to that gym for those four months. I come in to talk to management and they said they would give me four free months and after those four months Id be free to go. I check on my statement and they still charged me for the month after. I had to come in and cancel my membership again and did not receive any reimbursement. Also the annual $60 maintenance fee wasnt mentioned when my brother and I signed on with them, so keep in mind its equivalent to $15 a month when comparing with other gyms that probably have better hours

Thought the place was really cool disagree with the cleanliness comments, it was cleaner then most gyms. Only complaint was the front desk (pretty sure it was the manager as it is mostly am) person came here a couple times as a guest with a buddy who was a from a crunch in Placentia, constant problems just trying to sign in... to him pesterizing us like criminals because we were unaware of the towel policy, cant make payments inside and the list of reasons this guy wouldnt let us work out go on.. Was looking for a new gym but il stick to working out at home to avoid people like him.

Great gym with low membership cost, exactly what you would expect though, little machine variety for strength training...It tends to get crowded in the late afternoon so getting a machine can become quite the challenge.....Mornings are usually the best time to go. The staff is friendly but lacks in numbers, on busy days it takes a while before they can get to you if you have any questions. Great members whom most are amiable go here, really makes the experience enjoyable.

Restrooms need to be cleaned a little more often but I think its their members responsibility as well. Other than that their facilities, including the showers, are very clean. They have plenty of paper towels and provide filtered water to refill your water bottle. Staff is very knowledgeable and nice. Their equipment is always working. If something does break they usually fix it very quickly.

When I started on my healthy and fit journey back in 2013 I started with Crunch Lakewood I love the feel and size of the gym and that people of all types and sizes came there and there was no judgements everybody was there for one thing and that was to workout. I love all of the machines, free weights and the classes that they offer. Im #TeamCrunch for life!!

Comparison: I transferred here from Cerritos crunch. There is a noticeable difference in equipment and staff quality. Theyre not as good as what Cerritos has to offer. My biggest gripe is that theres only one squat rack here compared to three in Cerritos. Overall, I expected the same quality from Lakewood as Cerritos. But what I got was far from it.

I joined Crunch in November. I had GREAT customer service when I was deciding on which plan. Then, I decided to hire a personal trainer, Kim. Kim is WONDERFUL! I bumped my sessions from once a week, to twice a week, and have recently increased them from 30 min sessions to 60 min sessions. I will and have recommended Crunch to others!
