I have worked with AppleOne (Act-1) over the years and had very, very good luck with finding work with them. In fact, through different recruiters I was working constantly. Many gigs with government offices were extended, and I was hired full time with three jobs. I got a lot of experience working here. I commuted to all of these gigs by MTA and never had problems getting to work. I was laid off recently and didnt hesitate with contacting AppleOne to get a job. But I found my experience this last time to be frustrating and a bit demoralizing. If I have any advice with dealing with AppleOne, its to look up and prepare yourself for their administrative tests "PROVE IT!" (I get shivers thinking about it) DO, DO ask for practice tests in all the required programs, and dont attempt to perform the final test until you feel you got the hang of it. I found, even though I work with these programs EVERYDAY, the PROVE IT test was easy to screw up on. A part of the problem is that most programs have multiple ways to complete a function in the real world, and the PROVE IT tests will only allow for one or two variations. Not for the shortcuts that many busy admins learn when doing our day to day jobs. So, right out the gate, my scores were poor. My experience and resume didnt seem to mean squat anymore. Also, it seems AppleOne has seen a shift in the types of office jobs they offer. (Or at least, thats what I was told.) So many of the gigs require Bachelors or Masters Degrees by the employers for just answering their phones and filing. (At least, thats what I was told.) And they seem to have an aversion to the fact I commute to work by MTA instead of driving. (Surprisingly enough people, it is a reliable form of transportation. Ive been commuting by train and bus for YEARS in LA, havent had any issues.) So, its been months and I havent been called out to anything, and when I have tried to call or email them (always in a very professional tone), the responses have been short and curt, giving me the impression that Im bothering them by asking for a follow up. So in short, if you have your s@#$ together out the gate, AppleOne might be able to find you work. Practice those unforgiving PROVE IT tests like your job depended on it. (It does) And when they ask if you have a reliable form of transportation, never tell them you commute by train or bus.

I have been registered with AppleOne Beverly Hills for over 2 years. They have placed me in several temp positions, and a few of those assignments turned into an offer for a perm position. They helped negotiate between these companies to get me the best salary. This is not something I would have been able to do on my own. I was placed in a perm position for over a year with a great company. Last year, the job market was bare. Things are starting to pick up, so I would give them another chance. For those of you who want to trash them, I wonder if you are actually the one getting in the way of finding work. I know that the other successful temps I have met are hard-working and positive. Some of you sound very negative and entitled. I know that being out of work is one of the most stressful situations, but keep going out, sending your resumes, and registering with several temp/work agencies. Create resumes that tailor different types of jobs & industries. Good luck to every one- I hope we can all find a stable financial life so we can focus on the things that are important.

I registered with AppleOne because I needed extra cash, even though I doubted their ability to find me something in this economy. I shouldnt have doubted though-- theyve given me lots of work! I did have to go through several hours of testing, but the upside is that now I work 3-4 days a week temping! The turn around between my testing and my first day of work was very fast-- only six days. I really like Cora and the staff; they know my name and sometimes call to ask how assignments are going. I think it definitely works in my favor that Im a fast typer, and its probably not possible for them to give every person lots of work. But if you type quickly, are friendly, and do well with Word and Excel, you should get a lot of work! I have been very happy... my wallets growing! :) I also think its fascinating to see so many different offices. Looking at some of the other reviews below, I think that there will always be some people unhappy with how much work they get. But my experience has been nothing but positive.

I walked in with 20+ years of admin experience and within 60 seconds the recruiter managed to completely dismiss my skills & work experience, and killed all possibility of finding work for me because I had not been doing admin work for the past 2 years. She then went on to very obnoxiously state that their clients were paying $7,000 to find a viable candidate and she really didnt want to take 5 minutes to actually read my resume or find out anything about what type of candidate I was. Although I spent an hour basically re-typing my resume into their on-line application, she didnt want to waste either of our time by actually interviewing me or testing my skills. Im not being negative, just stating my experience with them.

Ask for Dominique! She has gone above and beyond to assist me with finding employment here and there and right now Im working a Temp Job that is inspiring. I am thankful for the experience. She hears you out on what your looking for and she does a great job at getting the rate your looking for. Im still searching for steady employment but thanks to her diligence I can still survive the tough time Im in. If you dont communicate what you will and wont do then your going to be disappointed but when your specific everything starts moving quickly. Best of Luck Everyone!!!

I went to AppleOne in Downtown Los Angeles, took the test that youre required and after a week, got called to various temp postitions. One that I got called for was for the County of Los Angeles Agricultural Commissioner/Weights and Measures, I temped with them for 8 months, till the company wanted me permanently, I really dont understand what the problem is with the people that rated AppleOne 1; I would definitely be back to AppleOne if my current employment is terminated.

This company SUCKS. They were completely unhelpful and a waste of Time. I went to the Culver City branch and they laughed me right out of the building. If you must go to this branch AVOID Yhenin. I could tell she did not want to help me. Now they send me an e-mail one month later stating how my job search is going. Really? Its going great no thanks to you. They probably want to pump me for information because they have NO jobs. Sheesh.

For what its worth, here it is. I found that while AppleOne couldnt help me today, as they have too many people currently vying for positions in my skill set, they did help me to several other agencies that could work out. Was it a job, no but it was an honest and straight forward approach which I do appreciate.
