My review is for the SALEM BRANCH, and more paticularly the staff members; Chelsea and branch manager Shana Barrett. Ive worked with the Bend branch and the staff was great. The Salem branch however is unprofessional and disrespectful. When signing up i addressed my pay rate as not wanting to recieve less than $12/hr. This was agreed upon by both parties and even adhered to on the FIRST job assignment. With the understanding that each assignment is issued, and details about such position are given over the phone such as; pay, tools needed; duration of assignment, and on site contacts, it is then equally understood that the staff should be precise and accurate in doing so. At the Salem branch THIS IS NOT THE CASE. The office staff was confusing in descriptions and random methods of communications (sometimes by email, other times by phone). Pay was described as,"...The same as last time" as opposed to a definite number. As you can imagine this caused much confusion on my end when reviewing my online check stub (which i still havent been paid, oddly enough) because, "Last time", for me, was $12/hr as discussed with Chelsea during my initial phone conversation. After reviewing my online check stub and seeing it was inaccurate by the amount $1/hr, I called the office staff to notify them of my concern and to hopefully resolve it. I spoke with my staffing agent named Chelsea and she assured me that she would return my call, promptly I might add, to see what can be done. After not having returned my call I waited a full business day and called back, when I was addressed by the very impatient and almost irritated agent, Chelsea she THEN proceeded explaining to me that the contractual agreement with the company that sought their services to fill a temp position was a set rate of $11/hr, and there was nothing that could be done about the small compensation I was seeking. I asked to speak with the branch manager (Shana Barrett) and was, once again, received rather unprofessionally by her as well. After speaking with branch manager Shana Barrett and being told there was no compensation going to be given, it was concluded that I was, " Squabbling over $15.00, irresponsible and not a grown man for not, double checking my rate of pay for a half day position that turned out to be a full day and a half of work." Shana Barrett then proceeded to continue demeaning and belittleing me saying, " What would you have me do? Hand you 15 dollars!?"... My experience was not a good one. I was received with sarcastic tones and irritated responses (you could feel the eyes rolling over the phone) for denying assignments that dont fit your needs as a temp, previously agreed to before being hired on. Shana Barrett said, (and Im paraphrasing only slightly) "..If youre a temp, and not working for a while we figure you will accept a lower wage position than previously agreed upon to be able to put food on the table for your families." I have more concerns i can address in lack of accuracy in communication, and professionalism or their ability for one to properly do thier job as its description entails, but this was the only one that i couldnt brush off as a non-intentional common mistake and felt compelled to write a review. Having read other reviews prior to writing my own, i found this branch to deserve its three star rating. Low rate and bad employee relations. Just use a different agency. Fact: i was disrespected for respectfully and understandably trying to resolve an issue of pay that resulted from the agents direct miscommunication to the temp employee.

I left there after applying, feeling as though I had been treated like they felt I was inferior to them and not at all important. I have been a professional for over 25 years. They did not offer an interview other than the "cattle call" interviews and even though the folks were there sitting and chatting, it was obvious my job search was not of interest to them. I left there knowing I was a bother to them rather than a potential valued client. If it were not for the fact that the position they have open is of interest to me, I would have nothing further to do with this company. It has just been confirmed to me that this is not the spot to go to for a position. They have a position advertised for which I have over 7 years experience in the exact description and I was not called or considered for the position. Sad to me that their priorities are not the job seekers, but their commission on each opening filled. Up date! I may not like the way things run at Select temp, but they got the job done for me and I begin my new position this next week. They seem to know what works well and stick with it. I have been registered with many temp businesses and Select Temp got the job done. Thank you.

I was offered a job by them today, and then later in the day I was offered a better job from a permanent company and it was not seasonal I did a courtesy call to Selectemp so they would not be left high and dry, Chealsea Peterson from the Salem, Oregon location was a complete ass to me over the phone, how about next time when someone gets a better job how about you congratulate them instead of being a jackass to them, no wonder you have low scores on your reviews, this was not the first time your company had been an ass to me, so I should not be surprised by your companies actions.

After reading prior post about this agency , I have decided to not even waste my time looking at positions open . Those that work here trying to help others that want & need jobs, you all "select" those who are worth your time as far as those you think are unworthy, you throw their apps aside or away and move on to those that are WORTHY! Your agency should be ashamed then investigated by state officials! You only look at those that are worthy! WPOS

Its the best temp agency Ive been to in Salem Oregon. They have a computer that tells you what kind of jobs that are available and that you can apply for. No other temp agency had this set up for an applying employee. The lady at the front desk ( ricayla ) has a great attitude and a certain glow that will let you know your in the right place. I give select temp a 5 star rating! :))

I feel the same as Anita. 3 hour wait for an interview this morning. We are human beings searching for even the most basic of employment to fulfill our financial needs, not cattle. I also dislike how I "applied" for a specific position on Craiglist there but wasnt contacted at all...YOU have to stay on THEM. Probably the worst temp service in Salem, and that says a lot.

Ive been using Select Temp Staffing for 10 or more years and always have found them at the highest professional level. They wrote the book on communication and have always worked hard to get the right worker to the right job. Class act and Ill continue to use them...
