Its been a few months since my experience with Paul and Mill Valley Auto Service (MVAS). Im sorry if anyone missed out because of the delay in my review! My car broke down in Mill Valley. After leaving it overnight in a commuter lot, I nursed it the half-mile to MVAS on a Sunday and left it at their door. Throughout the next week I was in contact with Paul (and John), who worked hard to fix my car at a price that I could afford. Long story short, years of outdoor east coast life have rusted a lot of the underside of my car. The critical components are there, but as Paul made clear, "every time you have work done, there will be additional costs for materials and workarounds." I needed a lot of extra stuff, and he got it to me all at a discount. Im pretty sure I only paid for the service and major components, but the front axle he managed to scrounge for me was free. I got the car back and I was pleased. Paul took the time to put my car on the lift and show me what hed done. He reassured me that my car still had life left and was safe to drive. Over the next week I noticed a noise coming from a front wheel well - Im pretty convinced that this was caused by driving my broken car the half mile to MVAS. I brought it back (just in case) and after taking a test ride with one of Pauls employees, I had a bearing replaced. Turns out that wasnt the bad bearing; when I got the car back for the second time, it was still making the noise! They ended up replacing the other bearing for free, and did some work on my brakes as well for my trouble. I had a fantastic experience with MVAS. It was a lot of back-and-forth, but in the end it was so worth it for the patient, honest, and fair service. When you take your car to MVAS, you will be treated like family. Everyone is friendly and helpful and will take the time to explain to you the condition of your car, the work that needs to be done, and the costs of that work. Paul, MVAS, thank you for everything youve done for me and my car.

I totally disagree with Michael J.. I brought a 94 4Runner in with a bunch of rattles and noises that I wanted fixed. After he worked the labor hours listed in the original estimate, my mechanic Kenny worked for many more hours (unbilled!) just so that he could say that the truck had not got the best of him. I have never seen a mechanic take more professional pride in a job. I love these guys. I recommend this shop to all my friends.

I recently drove my car across the country and wanted it checked out, oil change, and to address a noise which turned out to be bad struts. Paul & co did a great job making sure everything was taken care of, and Paul did his best to work with me and figure out a plan for what I could afford. I am extremely appreciative of them and the massive amount of work they did and care they put into my car and me as the customer!

Paul and his crew are awesome at Mill Valley Auto Service. They take great care in doing the usual factory service, as well as finding out and fixing whats wrong. Ive been taking my two vehicles there for about 7 years, and they run better than they did when I was taking them to the dealers. Plus, theyre a lot cheaper...

Been doing business with this local shop for 5 years on my familys cars and SUVs. The result of a planned maintenance program with Paul has keep my vehicles free of major issues and at far more reasonable prices than dealerships. I drive from San Francisco because I can trust every bit of work on my car. Ive had minor service and larger work done. I referred a friend. His car had a problem that only the manufacturer could fix, and Paul didnt charge for the diagnosis, even though it took a day to determine.
