Starting going to this gym after being a member of the 24 active that was closed down across the street for 2 years. My membership was upgraded without cost, but I dont know how long that will last for. I think a comparison between the old active is appropriate here. Something I loved about that gym was the huge amount of space. Thats not the case at this gym, overall, it looks big, but is cramped. This gym, the supersport, has better ventilation and lighting which is great. Also, the customer service and cleanliness has changed for the better. I dont know how much others pay per month, but at my pricing this gym is fantastic. My one complaint is that they reused a lot of out dated equipment from the active...and Im worried that Im going to start having to pay for a super sport membership (if I do, I would probably cancel my membership).

The Good: Cleaner than the other 2 clubs nearby (Raleys and Irvington) by orders of magnitude. Machines are typically in a good state. Doesnt get too crowded at the weight machines. Nice locker rooms and showers. Nice Group-X training room Well ventilated open working space The Bad: Isnt open 24 hours Too few tread mills and too many stationary bikes (That dont seem to be used) Older equipment that could use some updating Conclusion: I really like this gym compared to the nearby alternatives. Its cleaner and a much better experience but it could still do with some updating and a few more treadmills.

Not enough options on machines, its mostly Hoist rocking machines, way to cramped, bad layout the old 24 had alot of options seems more of a social gym with a bigger cardio rooms and full court basketball the auto mall is better with the layout. with all the stores leaving they could take more space for equipment. This is actually a really big gym but the use of space and layout is bad.

Its new. I like the floor mat. Its a little weird that all the flat benches and adjustable benches are occupied when all the Olympic bench presses are vacant. I dont like the floor plan. The weight lifting area is on the second floor!!! When I take yoga class, there is always someone throwing the Olympic barbell on the floor, the whole building is shaking!

The gym is nice which should be expected because of how new it is. They could use a couple more options when it comes to the machines. The negative of the gym is their limited child care hours. If they would adopt the hours that the Whipple location has, that would help out a lot.

First time in a new club but cramped lockers parking is limited to cars and shortage of free weight equipment like barbells. The mall probably wont help draw new members. Otherwise new weights and benches are dam nice and feel safer.

This is a serious gym kinda old school people here put away their weights and staff is of the culture old skool keep it straight. Love this type of environment. Respect is big here at this gym.

Just found out they only stay open until 10 p.m.!!! Because the city of Newark doesnt allowed them to stay open 24hrs. Great gym,, Great staff,,the hours arent so great!!!
