My partner and I never pre-appoint and weve been running into problems getting same week, early morning Sat appointments the last couple months, making us wait an extra week or two, looking shaggy, etc. 4 weeks ago the shop had a little sign set up saying "Make your next appointment now, get entered into our raffle for prodcut from . so, we do, four weeks in the future, with our respective barbers at 9:30am. Today, my partner gets the notice for her appointment, I do not. She calls in and is told bluntly "His barber isnt working tomorrow." No call, text or email (I checked), no notice, no care. Barely an apology. They recently raised prices and service is going downhill fast. I came here from Slick and Dapper, but Im running into the same shoddy service, poor communication and less than stellar staff that made me leave that shop. Again, no communication for the cancel. At all. I checked my phone and they had no calls over the past 4 weeks from Peoples to even try to leave me a voicemail. They have my email and cell number on file as well, but no text or email. How do you justify raising prices when you cant even keep appointments that are placed face to face in your store? My partner had to go back to the shop when another barber than her usual cut her hair because the results were terrible. The replacement barber for that appointment left a ton of long hair along the undercut. Sure, they give you a shot and a beer, but Id rather they gave a youknowwhat about their clients. The correct response to this would have been honoring the 9:30 appointment and finding how to do it. Period. Their mistake should not inconvenience me in any way. The fact they couldnt even be bothered to contact me about the cancellation AND theyre screwing up my schedule for the day, with barely an apology at all, shows how little the management here cares about their clients. Just fleece them out of cash and forget them as soon as they leave. Barber cuts are about precision and details. Peoples Oakland is not detail oriented.

5/5! I cannot tell you how much of a relief it is to be able to show a barber a picture and then have them really talk to you and actually ask questions about what you want! I have gotten 3 cuts here and all of them have been spot on! Shevelle is my go to guy now because he gave me the best haircut I have ever gotten in my entire life. He really took the time to sculpt a work of art onto my head. He also made a real effort to modify anything I had wanted changed with the cut. His patience is unmatched! I am so satisfied with my haircut, that you can consider me a lifelong customer! Thanks again Peoples Barber!

Ive been a regular patron of Peoples Barber in San Francisco, I love it. Oakland is a very nice location very trendy and spacious. The cool thing about Oakland is theyre not very busy right now so its easy to get an appointment. Tristan cuts my hair (twice now) and hes done a great job. Im very particular about who cuts my hair and Im happy. Check them out if you like ambience, style, and a little pampering.

Very nice Barber Shop with an awesome ambience. They offer complimentary beers and such while youre waiting/getting cut. But the quality of the haircut seems to vary each time I go. Overall a great atmosphere but Im not convinced that the price is worth the services. Would give this an extra .5 for the friendly staff if half star ratings were available.

Amazing service. On the pricey side of haircuts, but dont assume every barber will do as great as the next (it wont be a terrible cut though). If you dont get a great cut, get a hot towel treatment and try someone else next time.
