Wanting to support Austin grown businesses, I walked in about an hour after opening with no greeting and no one else waiting (pretty much empty) at least 2 stylists were open and a couple others were already cutting hair. After checking in, the receptionist stated a 45-60 min wait time. Of course I was puzzled and double checked I didnt miss a horde of people, the receptionist, to her credit, caught the vibe and said shes expecting a lot of "call a heads" to show. However, my hair is typically cut in a leisurely 20 minutes so Im positive they couldve cut my hair before more people started to show. I have been to other Birds and the stated wait was never more than 25 min. This location has a nice atmosphere just didnt want to spend my late morning there.

I like this one bc its really close and kinda hidden. Its not a madhouse like the other locations. With that said, its really expensive for a haircut and they rush cutting your hair almost every time. Also, for the life of me I dont understand why they cant get a fade done right. I always go home a cringe in the mirror. Still, its really close so I go here and put up with it. Edit 9-5: IM DONE WITH THIS PLACE!! SHE SPENT MAYBE 5 MINS ON MY HAIR THEN ASKED "Hows that look?" ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! I ASKED FOR IT SHORTER AND SHE SPENT ANOTHER WHOLE TWO MINS ON IT!! WOW, SOOOOOOO PROFESSIONAL. WHAT EVER YOU DO DONT GET THE SHORT LADY WITH RED HAIR. SURE, SHES KINDA HOT, BUT I FEEL LIKE HELEN KELLER COULDVE DONE A BETTER JOB!! Good bye birds barbershop......

It was a cool environment but since the stylists get paid a flat rate they want to hurry and get as many people as they can. I was in the chair maybe 30-35 minutes and thats with a "shampoo". I asked for a face frame and some layers, she did a little bit of the face frame and she barely even cut the split ends off. She maybe cut an inch up and called it a layer. It was totally my fault for not speaking up and not wanting it shorter. I guess it was the way it was blowdried it look different because when I got home showered and styled it myself it looked very choppy and was done very quickly. Probably wont be going back unless its an emergency.

Just left this place after waiting 25-30 minutes, hair dresser walks out and calls my name at the guy who just walked in apologizing for the wait the guy stands up shakes hand and walks to the back. Guy even said he just got there. I had enough time to put my phone in my pocket and half stand to see this interaction. Instead of making a scene I look to the receptionist for assistance and the dude turned around and walked away. This on top of all the other little problems Ive had with all the birds Ive been to leads me to one decision. Never bringing my business through their doors again.

Came in for a beard trim and neck trim the stylist didnt seem too amused. She missed several spots on my beard and mustache. She also cut my neck with the buzz cutters and didnt say a word about it. For a "barbershop" this place doesnt have any capable barbers... The front desk associate right in front of me said I was gonna charge him for a scissor and beard trim when the stylist never used scissors. Like Im not standing there. Tipped $8.00 on a $10.00 service. Kicking myself in the !@# for being nice in retrospect. If youre a man who gives a crap about your beard dont go here.

I waited at the front desk for a few minutes as there was no receptionist. One of the hairdressers told me to sit down and that someone would be with me shortly. Meanwhile, another customer arrived and took my place in line. He was called before me and the hairdresser who asked me to sit said nothing. I left after learning that my haircut wouldnt be for another 30+ minutes (after waiting for 30 minutes already). Im taking my business elsewhere. Rude customers and unprofessional employees. All the free Shiners in the world wont make me come back.

I like the atmosphere and the convenience. However, its pretty ridiculous I cant schedule an appointment for the next day, and I have to call the day I want the cut for my son to get the appointment. Also, I took my daughter there (11 years old), and they charged me $5 to dry her hair. Had I known theyd charge for a simple thing like that, I would have had her walk out with wet hair. A cut for her was $45, which is too much for her age and the basic cut she got. Fun Austin place, but a bit ridiculous on some of their prices and policies.

Both of the ladies at the desk were nice. They gave me a wait time of 45-60 minutes (I knew it would be busy on a Saturday) and I think I only ended up waiting 20-30 minutes. Red cut my hair. It was pretty quick. She listened to what I wanted and did a great job with my hair. It was $35 for the cut (with shampoo it would be $45)

Make sure you make an appointment before you go. I was turned away because they where booked for the evening. Would have been nice to know. I could have spent time with my kids instead of taking the 30 min detour. I wont go back. Not even a barbershop, more of a salon.

Ive taken my son to birds on east 6th but never went myself. While the atmosphere is nice I was not happy with my cut (buzz cut and beard trim). The buzz cut was fine, but the beard trim could have been better. And I have hair all over me which I am not happy about.

Haircuts here are fine, a mens haircut will set you back around $25 plus tip. I generally stick to one person cutting my hair whats a find a good one. The free beer is a nice bonus. They often have long wait so call ahead if you can. They do have Wi-Fi.

I got a haircut from Heather. There was a short wait, but they had plenty of magazines that were recent and wide ranging in mens interest topics. I also received a beer to drink while I waited. Very good experience.

Im always amazed at how during the 2 minute drive from my house to the shop the wait goes from no wait at all to an hour. That or the receptionist isnt being honest. Have been there 4 times and only gotten 1 haircut

The stylists here are great. And you get a free beer or water if you want it. Unfortunately the only option is shiner. Also the mens hair cut is a little pricey for my tastes at $25

Its an Austin staple, you wont find a better place to get a quick cut. Because of its popularity, Id call ahead for a place in line. Enjoy your complimentary Shiner while you wait.

Went for hair cut and my 5 year old son. Charged 25.00 for each of us. Pricey for a 5 year old who all that he needed was hair cut in the lower back side. I wasnt offered a beer.
