I grow my hair out to donate it to different cancer associations so when I get my hair cut, I want it to be a great and stylish cut since I wont be cutting it again for a bit and I want it to be a cut that grows back nicely with not much effort. I dont want a difficult cut! I was in Kyoto and although it was getting to the length to donate it, I thought- while in Japan, why not go and get a cut because Japanese hair stylists are known to be the best. I found a place after doing some shopping and having some real ramen and was so lucky to have found a place that was still open. I had two stylists working on my hair and my mom was watching the technique that they used to cut my hair and it made her want to give it a try. I have very thick hair and they worked on doing such an awesome job in doing an undercut that it was amazing! I had been to Yosh across the street and also to their Maiden Lane in San Francisco location and tried out Juut but it wasnt for me. Im so glad that I had walked past Edge Salon so many times before that I thought I would give it a chance and I will never go to another salon. They cut my hair exactly how I described it. It was easy to maintain and grow out. I like the salon because it is clean. They have that cool vacuum cleaner that sucks all the hair up so I noticed that the floors are always clean. The staff was also very nice asking me if I wanted anything and I got these cute square Japanese candy on the way out! Cant wait to cut it again- its almost long enough to donate and Ive got the style that I want chosen and I already know that I will get that cut cause they do such a great job and I trust them!!!

Called to schedule appointment for cut and color. I had a choice between an advanced stylist and a senior stylist. I requested a quote for both senior and advanced for a cut and a color. The color was quoted at $100 for both stylists. The cut for the senior stylist was $65 and $45 for the advanced stylist. Since I was on a budget, I opted for the advanced stylist. I arrived at the appointment to find out that I needed to wait a half hour due to a scheduling conflict. This was inconvenient, but fine. During the consultation, the stylist was surprised that I also wanted a cut as I was only written down for the color and explained that I would have to have the cut done by another stylist. This was also inconvenient, but fine. When I was halfway through the color the stylist informs me that once the color is done, I need to wait an hour before I can have the cut done! The second stylist ended up having her canceled client arrive for the slot they had given me for the cut. Stylist number 1 ended up being able to cut my hair. Not sure how the time miraculously appeared in her schedule. The cut was alright. She did a horrible job on my bangs and I am waiting for them to grow out so that I can have someone who knows what they are doing cut them again. When I went to pay, nearly 4 hours later, I was not only exhausted, but the cut ended up being $20 more than I was quoted over the phone. Had I known that the price for the advanced and the senior stylist was the same, I would have booked with the one with more experience. Not to mention that if I had originally gone with the senior stylist, I would have been double booked! AGAIN! Very unhappy.

Unfortunately I cant remember the name of my stylist but she was asian and was very short. She only works on weekends and this is her part-time job. I asked to have my hair cut a certain way and specifically asked for certain things NOT to be done. Well she did what I didnt want and now my hair looks horrible. She also scratched my scalp really bad when it was being washed. My head still hurts from her nails. I noticed her license expires next month. Hopefully she wont be staying. Im sorry to write such a bad review but I dont want anyone else to go through what I went through!

comfatable place, good sSo I was feeling ambitious one day and just decided to go out on a whim and have my hair cut short. I have been reading reviews by other yelpers on here about Edge and it gave me a lot of confidence about this salon. So I tried it out. Shoji cut my hair and it looks amazing! I am very satisfied! I love my hair so much now and its so easy to style. I told her what I wanted and she gave me even better then what I asked for. Plus he is so nice and he holds conversation well, which I love. I couldnt have asked for anything better.

I saw Shannon and was thrilled with my new shorter cut. I normally go to International Hair (or whatever it is called at Stanford mall) and go cheap. I wanted a change and not a mom-bob so I made a random appointment online with Shannon. She asked what I wanted, then told me what she thought would look good given my very oval-shaped face. She was professional, friendly, and gave me styling and product tips - much much appreciated since I have been doing ponytails for way too long. I will be back for sure!

The salon itself is nice and its a good location. The hairdresser was very nice. The only thing I didnt like was that I paid over $200 for my perm but my hair didnt take. Later other hairdressers told me that my hair is too long and too heavy and that it wont work and they wouldnt recommend it. It just damages the hair. @ Edge they said it will work! But it didnt! They could be more honest with their customers! My hair is still completely straight!

Ambar is just fabulous for curly hair cuts. Anyone with curls knows it is difficult to find anyone who will even try to cut it. Ambar is a professional, and even though her own hair is straight, she has years of experience cutting curly locks. Dont hesitate to call her. She took my wedge cut and turned it into soft, beautiful curls and I can even duplicate it at home. Wow is all I can say. Thank you Ambar!

Ive been getting my haircut here for 1.5 years by Sarah. I am very particular about my hair. I wear it short and its not an easy cut. I lived in LA (dont hold that against me) and went to several top salons. Most recently Juan Juan Salon in Brentwood. They did a good job and have very good stylists. But Sarah is above and beyond the best Ive had.

These cosmotologists may wish to elevate themselves as self-styled "master stylists", but their pissy treatment on the phone (four interruptions) and their requirement of a deposit for an appointment when following a new stylist to their salon adds up to attitude over substance. Granted, this pretense may add to the appeal for fashionista types.
